The Book "Eragon" was written by Christopher Paolini and was a best seller in the years to come. It is based on Eragon, a young boy of 15 who finds a sapphire dragon egg out in the mountains of the Spine. After the dragon hatches, Eragon and his newly hatched companion, Saphira are set to go out and train to become Riders, the fabled warriors of old who also rode on the backs of these mythic beasts.
After managing his way along 1/4 of Alagaesia, he manages to find the ones who burned down his home and killed his uncle. failing to kill them, he flees to the southern mountains of the Beor. Meeting with dwarves inside the Varden, he assists in defeating a shade, Durza, but in the process renders a scar along his back.

The sequel, Eldest, follow Eragon as he makes his way to the norther forest of Du Weldenvarden. He then meets with the elves and undergoes training with them. After the Blood-Oath ceremony Eragon finds himself changed by a dragon spirit and from this, looks similar to an elf, also gaining thier abilities. Once he learns about a war between his former friends, the Varden, and the Empire seizing the entire area except for a small country on the border. In the end, he meets up with his cousin, who went seeking revenge on the same people that killed Eragon's uncle, and also kidnapped his wife.
