She trotted along the path with a joyful expression on her face. Her paws skipping her through the grass as she left the borders of the Bahari'mtoto far behind her. She was free again, as free as a bird and no one was going to get in her way - especially her mother.
She thought back to the slanging match she had been involved in, her mother's voice piercingly sharp in her memory.

"Nissa, get back here this instant! I won't have you running off like this!"
"Argh! Just leave me alone mum! I'm fed up of having this conversation with you! I just want to explore."
"It's dangerous out there!"
Nissa halted, turned her head slowly back to her mother. Her mother was pale green, unlike Nissa in looks. In fact, looking at them they hardly seemed related.
"Take one more step Nissa and you won't be leaving the den for a whole week!"
Nisssa smirked, twitched her whiskers and took another step. Then, before her mother could yell anything else she was tearing off, her paws beating a great rhytm below her.

Now she was out in rogue lands, moving confidently with her head held high. There was a reason for her being here and that was partly due to Elly. She wanted to find herself some awesome looking jewellery! So, she was searching for feathers and vines, anything to make a headdress to mimic her new friend's hairstyle.

Strange pink eyes watched the rather different looking lioness as she went along, seemingly searching the ground. His head cocked to the side at this strange female, but he was far too bored to complain. He hadn't come across another creature for a few days now.
He smirked as a thought came to him, and slowly, he lowered into a crouch, stalking with a skill one his age should not have, but practice would do that.
Closer and closer he crept to her, his eyes narrowing in focus, until finally, he saw the perfect opportunity. With a large leap, he covered the rest of the distance to the female, knocking into her roughly from the side, and following her to the ground. He smirked from on top of her, leaning down till they was almost nose to nose. " You should really be more aware of your surroundings. " came the intelligent, and obviously amused purr.
" After all, you're a very obvious target. " He seemed content to keep her pinned under him for now, studying her more closely. She had some very strange markings...

Something pushed her roughly from behind sending her bowling forwards. Her heart leapt in her chest and her eyes widened. A strangled cry was halted by another's voice, a young voice. A very young voice. "Maybe you shouldn't go round pouncin' strangers kiddo." She shifted, turning her head up to get a better look of him.
"Obvious target? An' what's that supposed tah mean?" She blinked. "Woah, dude, you have crazy colours!" She absorbed in the odd, abstract markings that covered almost the entirity of his body and remember what Elly had said about lions who traditionally covered their bodies in tattoos.
"Are you one of those Ela things? The ones I heard about? The best lion tattoo-artists in the whole of africa?"

" Tattoos...? " The slightly younger lion quirked a brow at her, slowly shifting aside to let her sit up. " I was born like this, they ain't tattoos. " He said in almost an offended tone.
" And ya. " He smirked again, bringing a paw up to examine his claws. " Pretty, bright colored young lioness wandering around alone and distracted in the middle of nowhere. Ya just scream 'fresh meat' darlin'. " He said innocently, his tail slowly swishing back and forth behind him. " I'm gonna guess that you're new 'round here? "
" Leave yourself open like that out here, an you'll be pounced by alot worse than me, got it missy?"

She sat, shook herself and narrowed her eyes at him, scanning the patterns of his awesomely decorated coat. "No need to be grumpy. That was a compliment boyo." She raised her eyes to meet his own, defiantly perhaps. "I'd kill for tattoos...markings like yours." She wrinkled her nose and tried to imagine what she would have printed on her own fur one day.
She'd look even more beautiful and her mother would freak.
"Yeh I'm new but I'm just passing through. I gotta be heading back as soon as I've found what I'm lookin' fer."
She stood, flicked her head and tail high and then drew in a deep breath to puff out her chest. "Hey, you're one to talk short-stuff." She giggled. "Quite an attitude for such a little guy." She didn't dislike him. She was just sizing him up to see if he was worthy of her respect.

He smirked at what most would consider an insult, not even trying to make himself look bigger as his tail flicked out, to swat at her. " What's that say 'bout you, darlin'? This 'little guy' just had you pinned. "
She was definatly entertaining. He slowly got to his paws, stretching with a short huff, before he began to circle her. " Names Cit. Only thing I'll answer to, anyhow. What's it you're lookin' for? Might help to have a local with you, hmmm? " He asked, once against stopping infront of her, looking up to her thoughtfully.
" Then again, I'll probably follow you weither you want the help or not. Don't feel much like continuing on my way home, get what I'm sayin' darling? " She would have had to have just up and left her home as well. There was no way she would be out in the middle of the rogue lands alone otherwise.

"Sneak attack." She replied with a little shrug, though the boy did have a point she would never admit it. She was too proud for that!
"A local? So you're from around 'ere are yah?" She glanced around as if expecting a pride of lions to appear. "Rogue cub?" She asked, turning her eyes back to him. "And why would you follow me, eh? Not like I'm very interesting, besides, like I said, soon as I've done with my hunting I'm gonna have to go back to mum. Much as I hate her, she does give free meals. Besides, I want to see her face when she sees what I've done." Oh yes, this would be good. "You dun wanna be around when she's spitting fire like some grizzly ol' dragon." She laughed.
"But I s'pose I can't stop yah if yah really wanna come with me. Besides, you might come in handy." She padded away a little and paused to cast him another look. "The name's Nissa."

" Nissa. Hmm. " He smirked again, moving to head after her to.. well, where was it they were going exactly? He wasn't sure.
" Care to share what is is we're lookin' for then, darlin'? An extra pair'a eyes won't help much if I don't know what ya need. " He asked as he came up even with her so they could continue on together. " As few earlier.. Ya, my family left their pride to live out here. But they live on the other side, few days walk from where we are now. " He said shaking his head. " I don't like stayin' in one place, so I don't really live anywhere. Just like to move around this place. "
He raised a brow at her, shaking his head. " Why go back at all? Ya could live alone, ya just don't wanna yet, hmmm? "

"Feathers." She replied, matching her stride to walk alongside him. "Pink feathers to be precise. I'm out to make myself a headdress." She flicked her tail. "It'll look so awesome when it's done! Maybe I should start a club or something, for cool looking lions." She eyed him. "I'd even let you join if you were nice to me." She laughed, yes she had sized him up and decided he wasn't so bad after all.
"Staying in one place sure is boring. I can't wait to strike off on ma own. I guess I jes dun wanna be by myself. I like to have others around me, yah know? Lions can go insane without good company."
She shrugged. "Me and my mum dun see eye tah eye but I guess I jus ain't ready yet. Give it a few more weeks an' I prolly will be." She gave him a nudge with her shoulder.
"Let's search over there." She directed them towards a clump of trees. Birds liked trees so it was as good a start as any.

He smirked, returning the nudge, before prowling forward towards the trees, the twitter and chirping letting them know long before they reached them that there were indeed birds there. He pressed down low, tail twisting out behind him as he eyes the pink tipped white feathered birds ahead.
" Wha'cha think, darlin'? " He murmurs to the girl, claws flexing slowly against the earth. " Those'd make a fine headdress... " He faced her a bit, with a teasing smirk, letting his fangs show. " Supposin' o'course.. Ya think ya can catch 'em with me... "
Challenge issued. Who could knock out the most feathers before the birds all took off into the air? Without waiting for a reply, his claws sunk into the dirt, and with a heavy pull he launched forward towards their target.

"I think the white and pink would look stunning." She imaged a headdress full of those bright feathers and new then that she wanted them. Hey, maybe Cit was lucky after all!
She lunged forwards a split second after him, snarling and spitting in a rather brutish fashion. Her claws raked the air as they took flight and she was pleased to see the feathers fluttering all around. She leapt again, twisted and caught an unlucky bird against her paw. It screeched, was knocked to the ground, flapping miserably.
But Nissa didn't have the intention of killing it, she just wanted to pluck a feather or two.
"Here birdy, birdy." She stalked towards it longingly.

He couldn't help but chuckle as she terrorized the bird, leaping up to bat another one down from it's attempted escape, stamping both paws down on feathery masses as it escaped again, leaving the feathers behind. The rest had taken off by then, and he turned his eyes to watch Nissa as he moved about, gathering up the stray feathers.
He really rather liked her. That was a bit surprising. But she was just so much like him, perhaps it shouldn't be?
"A'right, Darlin'. Pluck'em a few an' ya'll have plenty'a feathers. "

Nissa was excited at the prospect of a headdress, a headdress as bright and rebellious as her soul! Then when she met up with Elly again she'd learn more about these tattoos. She wanted a tattoo as well, something intimidating and bright. She wanted everyone to notice, to not forget how big and strong she was.
The poor bird shrieked as Nissa leapt upon it, pressing it to the ground. Then, carelessly, she began to pluck feathers with her teeth, almost choking on them in the process. She shook her head, sneezed and the feathers cascaded around her.
Then releasing the poor bird she stepped back and began to gather them herself, scooping them with her paws. By now the pink and white bird was using the remaining feathers to flap up into a nearby tree.
"Look at how many there are! These are going to look so beautiful! I guess I should thank you Cit, I sure am lucky I came across a useful little punk like you." She grinned. "Now I just gotta make these into my headdress." That would be the hard part.

He couldn't help but chuckle at the compliment, before giving a thoughtful humm as he looked over the feathers. " Yer right. It won' be easy, but with som'in as determined as ya, Darlin', we'll manage. " Though, what could possibly hold them together...? His eyes lit up after a moment and his usual smirk returned as he got up to pace around the feather pile. " Snake skin, or vines? Personally, th' skin would be much more interestin', but we wouldn't be able ta let it live, ya understand. Sheded skin wouldn' be strong enough. " He said, looking to her.
" If it's what ya prefer, it could be put tagether with vines. Should be some in the trees at a waterin' hole not far off. " He sat again to leave the choice up to her, not knowing her well enough just yet to know which she would prefer to have for it. He personally wouldn't mind either way. He'd hunted many a snake for a quick meal when he was smaller and unable to take down better game for eating.
Her choice would also let him know a bit more about her. She seemed tough, but it may not really all be there. How much was an act?

Nissa's eyes lit up. "Are yah a jewellery designer, Cit?" She asked, the question was light-hearted, but she meant it was a compliment, or rather, a lead onto a compliment. "Yah sure do know what sort of embellishments a girl wants." She purred contentedly over her feathers, like a dragon guarding it's hoard.
"Snake skin would be perfect, it'd add just the right touch, don't you think? I mean, anyone could get a vine from a tree, but a snake's skin would have that impact, that message."
She clucked her tongue thoughtfully. "But I've seen snakes before. They're fiesty little devils. If they manage to sink those teeth in, we're goners." Her eyes went down to the feathers once again. "We'd have to think of a way to trap one." She glanced around as if expecting the answer. "And we'll have to go back to the long grassy place I passed through to get here. There's plenty of them skulking around in there."
