As you may or may not have noticed, the Real World section of our guild is very sparse in the way of information!

I am going to let you members make suggestions in this thread as to how the world of the real should be structured and divided up. I already have some of my own ideas, but the more help I have from you, the better it will be for us all.

So far I'm thinking something along the lines of the underground network only taking up the southern hemisphere of the Earth while the north belongs to the machines and their city(ies). Each new 'colony' like Zion would have a representative individual in addition to the council and these representatives would form a world-wide council of their own in a time of global crisis. Sort of like having a president and then a congress.

Sentinels guard the equator letting nothing near the human crop without express permission or formal request due to certain formalities in the Zion-Deus Ex truce.

I'm also considering dedicating a part of the real world as a 'no-man's land' where fights break out constantly between magnetic ships and sentinels and even people on foot trying to survive the desolate wastelands. Possibly some sort of open waterway or irradiated land that even the machines didn't want to populate.

This would open up the 'survival/refugee' aspect of the real world where criminals in the real world may be forced out into the wild surface of the planet or pilots may be stranded due to ship failure.

Any input is appreciated.

* This thread will be moved to FAQ shortly.

I like that idea. The "No Man's Land" thing. That gives us multiple story possibilities as well as opening the story up for combat.
As for the cities, I've already given my input in the other thread. It'd still be nice to see a list of some of the major cities and their charactaristics as well as what unique way that city contributes to Zion. But how would people travel from city to city? Probably be pretty tough, huh?
The councel sounds awesome. Perhaps if something were to happen to Zion or one of her larger sister cities, the leaders of each city like you said, could form a mega councel and meet in a safe location or communicate via holo or even the Matrix itself to speak and plan.

Youve got a bunch of great ideas. The council part sounds like a check/balance system, which i like.

As for the no-man's-land, great. I wouldnt make it a waterway, limits non-ship related possibilities. But i would assume you could work your way around that.

The border system seems like a good way to keep PC's from venturing too far into uncharted territory, as it were.

Last, travelling between cities could be easily remedied. The Subway or doorways. The subway is the easiest. Doorways, on the other hand, are a little more difficult. There could be locations around the city, like a restaurant, where there is one door that leads to other cities.

Thats my two cents, anyway...

Right, right. But what do you mean about doorways? I mean, this is the real world, so Matrix rules don't apply. And there was nothing in the trilogy that could lead anyone to believe that teleportation was invented. I could see the old tunnels, but wouldn't that be rather dangerous? Unless the tunnels were reinforced..

We could say that part of the peace agreement would allow for the use of some sentinel assistance in creating intercity 'highways' and patching up old tunnels to allow transportation that would not cross over the equator (After all, no humans = no power for machines, so they would have to give in to some demands).

In addition I can see an on-going project for the real world machines to seal/guard entrances to all northern hemisphere tunnels.

That way you can still have roleplays where people are trying to sneak past the machine 'construction crews' to get to the north.

Yes? No? Smoothies?

Should make for some interesting rp when both populations grow to the point that they are forced to attack the other side for more room to live. 3nodding

Um, forget what i said about doorways. Bad (and irrationally conceived) idea.

But yeah, maybe we could have a transit system. Like a large subway system, connecting the different human cities.

While we're at it, we could create a new subforum and title it "Gaia". Then we could create people to join the guild. xd

Not sure I understand.

It was a crack at the horrible join rate. We'll have to start creating people that want to join.
Ahem.. Yes well.. Bad joke.

Horrible joke! >P

I'm starting to doodle images so people can see what Passerby looks like since it's going to be a permanant place..

Are people afraid to start roleplaying? I could dump ten of my guys in there at once but that's hardly satisfying.

I see some of you are wearing the guild banner, fantastic! Remember to bump our advert threads and help notify people that our guild is the best to join.

I don't have room in my sig to add it. Which is why I've just been irately spamming the hell out of people's inboxes trying to get them to join. Amazingly enough, no one's been mad yet. All I've gotten are friend requests back. Hardly what I was searching for. I don't want to be your friend, mang! I wanna kick your a** in an rp! Jeeze!
I was hesitant to start until more people joined in at Passerby, but I guess I'm going to have to post first.

the roleplay seems...very technical..
any way a sentinal could be roleplayed as?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2008 4:04 pm

Yes, I suppose sentinels could be played. What are some of your ideas for that?

Also do you mean the roleplay seems restricted? What can we do to make it better?

I think he just means that our style is rather detailed. Rather that or he means technical as in it's a worthwhile place to rp a machine.
