Kiefer was having an off day. Or perhaps an off week. Months? Life. Of course, if his life was off...well that pretty much means he isn't actually off at all. Dead on, in fact. But he certainly hoped it would stop eventually.
Kiefer had been rather lonely lately. So lonely, in fact, that last time he ran into his friend Journey, things got quite out of hand. And he wasn't sure how to deal with it. He wanted to take his actions back, but that was not an option. He hadn't seen her for a few days. He didn't know what to think, or what he would say to her if he ever saw her again. So awkward, all stemming from feelings that seemed so natural in genuine at the time. Now, however, they were dead and gone, and leaving with themselves only the stench of regret.
But he wouldn't deal with it at all if he could help it. A poor decision, of course, but the stallion wasn't the type to think on things too much. No, he would only avoid it. He, some how, some way, thought that being with Journey would have solved some of his problems, but it just made more. That was how it always seemed to be. Acting on a stupid impulse to help himself, and ended up hurting himself and others.
Maybe it was best that he stopped having friends entirely. Obviously he did nothing but mess up. So making new friends seemed like a very, very bad idea. But being so lonely...it was the loneliness that brought on such issues. What a vicious cycle.

What a day, she felt exhausted, even if it was barely afternoon, or something like that. Her wings drooped to her sides a bit before she stopped and looked around. Dark ears perked up as her golden eyes glanced about the snow covered world. As her long locks waved in the slight wind that accompanied the day, the brisk air made her skin prickle. It was a strange time of year, the time of year she was born into.
"What a strange world and time." She muttered to herself walking again. "Though everyone else seems to hate it.." She pouted at this thought looking around, wondering where everyone was...

Kiefer looked down at the snow. It was so pretty. But it was almost mocking him. The way it held his hoof prints. One could see exactly where he had been, but the snow lacked the ability of giving him any indication of where he was going next. A blank slate. Nothingness. And you didn't even know what was under it, all you could see was the white top, pseudo ground with waves and dents that hardly reflected what was under it.
He brought his eyes up from the crystallized water, seeing someone in the distance. A mare, with wings. Just like Journey. Oh god. Please not let it be Journey. He didn't want to see her again. That would ruin his plan of avoiding any sort of ramifications of his actions. He considered turning around at that very moment, run, and hope she didn't see him, or his tracks. Horrid tracks that he couldn't cover up.
The wind blew, and a long mane and tail cascaded off the figure. It wasn't Journey. She had a shortish mane. This mare had a long mane. No, it wasn't her. Thank goodness. He still wasn't in the mood to speak to anyone else, but at least it wasn't Journey. How horrid that would be. Absolutely horrid.

Stopping again, Wica turned her head to the side a little, something had caught her eye. Something that wasn't the snow or anything that came with it. Letting her wings fluff out at her sides in a way to spread the warmth from them over her back she watched. Wondering what it could have been. By this time the winds had let her snow and lavender colored mane and tail fall back to their normal places, though the long bangs did happen to fall across her eyes every now and again, annoying that.
Shaking her head, she turned toward the figure in the distance. Her own dark body standing out against the snow she had come to love in many ways. Besides the fact that she was always seen by those that fed on her kind... If they could get one alone and down to biting range. Letting her hooves take her down the small incline, it wasn't long before she found herself sliding down the incline, pretty much upon her rump.
"Eeek!" Came from her throat as she slipped, there was more ice then snow where she had been walking and it had let her down.
At the base of the incline she came to a halt and merely flopped onto her belly as her front hooves stretched out before her. She could have sworn that something would hurt in the morning, if not her rump. Shaking her head, she looked up again, what a display she had created, yet another of her qualities, a fool. Standing too quickly she slipped back on the ice again, this time landing on her back, her wings folded in close to her sides.
"Oiy" Wica muttered softly as she stared up at the skies, "What a fool I must seem to not only slip once, but twice in front of someone else who is sure to laugh..." At this came a small pout as she rolled over to look off toward where she had once spotted the strange figure, hoping they hadn't been watching.

Kiefer watched the mare, contemplating on weather to leave or go. She had seen her, and would probably think of him as a weirdo to just suddenly run off. But who really cared what others thought, particularly if he never saw them again. Still, it was never good to make a fool of oneself. Even if you never saw them again, it was a bit unnerving to know that others were forming opinions of you. Although that happened all the time anyway. Kiefer shook his mane a bit. Being alone made you over think things.
Of course, his fears of making himself look stupid melted away as he watched the mare trip. She slid down the snowy bank like he and his sisters had done for fun during their first winter. Well, it was actually only himself, and he got hurt. Not horribly hurt, but just a foalish injury. He hoped the mare didn't hurt herself. If she felt on a piece of ice, she could cut her leg. And as he had thought on before, you never know what is under that snow.
Having no real choice anymore, Kiefer walked over to the mare to make sure she was ok. He watched her move, and then fell again. He couldn't help but laugh. Not a loud, annoying laugh. Just a chuckle to himself. Hopefully she wasn't really hurt, because then he would feel very bad for laughing about it.
Still with a bit of a smirk, he reached the mare, and looked over her. She didn't look to hurt, but did look rather embarrassed.
"Are you OK?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. She didn't look like Journey at all, and he felt rather stupid for confusing the two before. This mare didn't have any of Journey's grey. In fact, she was mostly brown, and purple, and blue. Interesting colors.

She was ... Alright. Just cold, wet and a bit bent out of shape. Shaking her head, she stood again, making sure to not slip on the same ice a third time. Finding a good footing, she stepped onto the snow where she couldn't slip again. Or at least she hoped not. Turning her gold eyes toward the stallion that had come near she nodded.
"I'm alright. Just forget that with the snow comes Ice." She giggled shaking her head, trying to get her long bangs out of her face. "You?" she asked tilting her head to one side
Wica was still quite the foal at heart, even if that heart was within the body of a fine young mare. Blinking a couple times, she looked away and around at the white landscape, before looking back toward the golden colored stallion who seemed to stare at her a lot. Was he studying her or something? But that was a question she would save for a later time... If she remembered to ask it...

Kiefer smiled, at least she was ok. He was never much help when someone got hurt. In fact, most of the time it was he himself who got hurt. And in that case he would often try to shrug it off. Which usually meant he would hurt himself more. The stallion had more then a few scars from when he was too proud or careless to seek help from a two legger, or a unicorn when he got hurt.
He laughed at her comment, unsure if he was out of line or not. "Well, in the future, it might be best that you take it a bit slow and watch where you are going" he said, jokingly. The stallion brought his bright green eyes down to the ground. It was hard and almost shiny, despite the crust of snow on top. It seemed they were over some sort of pond. He wondered vaguely if the river he was by with Journey flowed into the pond, and then forced the thoughts of her out of his head.
"I'm fine myself. Just....traveling" he said, unsure if that was the right word to describe his actions of the moment. Perhaps wandering would be a better word. Traveling implied that he was going somewhere. Although he was going away from somewhere, he couldn't honestly say he had a destination.
"Are you on your way anywhere?" he inquired, hoping he wasn't being too nosy. The last thing he wanted is for someone to think he was pushy and annoying. He hoped he wasn't.

She let a shiver travel down her spine, out her wings and finally out her tail. What was left of the snow that had been resting upon her body and within her wings Her ears flicked a bit before coming to rest to listen to where she listened to him. Wica nodded as he spoke of being alright, that was good. Her long tail twitching behind her much like a canines would when happy.
Though she had to tilt her head to one side as he spoke of going anywhere. Was she? Not that she knew of. She was just looking around at best if that's what one could call it. Wica had once again lost herself within the clogging thoughts of her own mind. Losing the sense of her surroundings, making herself vulnerable to anything man or beast.
"No, Just... Looking around." She slowly nodded before turning toward the stallion, "Just looking around." At this she tilted her head to the other side, her senses slowly coming back, too slow mind you, to really matter...

Kiefer nodded. It seemed as if quite a few soquili didn't have anywhere to go, and weren't coming from anything in particular. It was rather sad, really. So many were alone. In fact, it seemed like a miracle that anyone could ever find anyone else to stay with. With all the land and water, and all the different soquili around. It was so easy to just wander off and never see your old friends or family again. That, of course, he didn't want to do. No matter how far he wandered, he didn't want to loose his family. His parents, his sisters....even his grandparents. They were perhaps the best friend he ever had. Which, he thought, was a bit pathetic.
Even his sisters were moving on with their lives. Last time he spoke with Attie she spoke of how she wanted a mate. He didn't like the thought, his big sister being with a stallion. Sure, she was older then him, but only by a few minutes. Kiefer always felt like the oldest. He was the only boy of the three, after all. It was always his job to make sure his sisters were ok. They weren't push overs, that was for sure. But Attie was sensitive, and Tahlia was shy. They needed someone to make sure they didn't get pushed around when they were little. His sisters didn't need him that much anymore, which made him sad.
He smiled at the mare. "I don't really had anywhere to go, either" he said, nodding. Perhaps running into another was good for him. After Journey...well, Kiefer knew that he wouldn't be able to take company again unless it was forced upon him. Again, shrugging off his pain and not seeking help.
And when you didn't get any help for your wounds, you got scars that would never fade away. They would just stay there for ever and ever, reminders of how stupid he used to be. Perhaps it was time he got some help.
"Mostly just going away from somewhere, actually" said the stallion, carefully. He wasn't about to force his problems onto some complete stranger. She didn't need to know what happened, and he doubted she even cared. But it was nice to say his feelings out loud, to admit them. Even if the mare probably didn't notice.
The stallion realized he hadn't even gotten her name yet. "Oh, I'm Kiefer, by the way"

Wica merely watched this stallion, her gold eyes eying him with a curious nature, but then again, it was the same look she gave to everyone and thing. Turning her head to the side her eyes looked toward something else, something that didn't seem to be there at all. His voice brought her back toward the real world as he spoke of just wandering. Sure she had a home she could go back to, and a family that loved her. Wica had a few friends, though she hadn't seen them for a time. She had to wonder how they were all doing, specially Ochoco, he seemed to be the closest friend she had when she was just a foal.
Shaking her thoughts away once again, she looked back toward Kiefer as he spoke of his name. It sounded like a nice name to her, nicer the her own that had a meaning to it. Unlike her own brother whom was named Penny, for how he looked anyways.
"Mine's Wicapi Wakan, though everyone seems to like to call me just Wica, besides one I met a while ago. He always called me Wicapi, so the choice of which is up to you." She nodded quite seriously, though she wasn't quite meaning it. "I do a lot of looking around, the world just seems... Bigger then I remembered it from when I was little." she shrugged stretching her wings a little at her sides.
Ears twitching a bit upon the top of her head, Wica looked around again, as something stirred behind her, Half turning, she glanced back as a couple of birds rose toward the skies without care or worry. To only land again, what grace they had, but she was a lesser of that her landings were... Disastrous, to say the least. Again thrown into the thoughts and imaginings of her own mind, she forgot about Kiefer, her surroundings before something drove her back.
A shadow, a black shadows who's eyes glowed red in her thoughts. She knew not of it's purpose within her mind, but it made her flinch physically and she shook it away, though the red eyes remained fresh within her memory, glaring ever dangerously at her. She wished it would go away, but she didn't know who she could tell that wouldn't call her crazy. A sigh escaped Wica, a heavy sigh as she thrust the creature from her mind, so that she could try and act somewhat normal...

Kiefer watched the mare. Not horridly intently, but he couldn't help but notice that she didn't seem to keep focus very well. It was like every few moments her eyes would glaze over and she would drift off momentarily, then come back to reality. Sure, it wasn't that dramatic, but it certainly was a bit noticeable.
He wasn't offended in the least. He knew what he was saying wasn't the most interesting in the world. There had been times when he was a foal and even now when someone was scolding him or telling him something and he would just let his mind wander into whatever nonsense it seemed to go too. But she seemed to do it rather quickly. He hoped she hadn't hit her head or anything bad in the fall. The stallion brought his eyes to the ground. The ice wasn't that hard. And if she hit her head too hard, she would have said something, or been showing signs that her head hurt, right? No, it was probably just her personality.
"A pleasure to meet you, Wica" he said, choosing the nickname. His mind momentarily threatened to flit back to Journey and the odd nicknames they gave each other, but he pushed the thoughts out of his mind once again. Ignore it, it might go away.
Then, the mare twitched. She seemed startled. "Are you ok?" he asked, full of genuine concern. He had never met anyone with any sort of mental issue before, except perhaps for the extraordinarily stupid filly he ran into when he was younger. But he wouldn't call that an issue. She was just plain stupid.

She hadn't really noticed how many times she had phased out into her own thinking. She hadn't hit her head that hard on the ice when she fell, if she had, she would have been a large crybaby in front of him. But she was alright, just scattered brained at times, though she only nodded to him.
"A pleasure to meet you too Kiefer." She said still nodding. "I'm... Alright I guess, just never quite grew into this body." She shrugged.
Yea that was a great answer, make him think that you were stupid, and insane. Again the eyes came back to the front of her mind and she shook them away again, why wouldn't they leave? She mentally sighed looking back up at Kiefer, smiling to hope that he would take her word that she was ok.
He would never understand what even I don't understand. she thought as she backed up to where the ice met the snow and she felt a bit better then just standing on the frozen liquid, with impending doom beneath it, if the ice had happened to... Well Crack...

Kiefer nodded. He wasn't going to question her reasoning. It was odd, sure. But he knew that it was wrong to assume things. With some things he had done in the past, he didn't like the idea of others thinking he was stupid, or crazy. Or any of that kind of thing. Sometimes he just had days where he couldn't sit still, or wanted to do something fantastic. That didn't mean he was insane. Well, it might. But either way, it didn't leave him in a position to judge others.
He realized that in his thoughts the conversation flow seemed rather inconsistent. They had barely exchanged a few words, both of them seemed so deep in thought. "Have you got any family, Wica?" he asked, hoping the out-of-the-blue question wasn't too weird, and added "Because if you were hurt, you might want to go stay with them for a while. Although it looks like you aren't" he said, and hoped that didn't make things even weirder.
He almost laughed at her comment of growing into her own body. That, if anything, was a perfect description for Kiefer. He was still so immature, still so foalish. He wasn't even that young anymore. Heck, one of his childhood friends had had foals, and they were probably old enough to have foals of their own by now. But still... Kiefer wondered if he would ever grow up.

Wica looked a little 'shocked' at the out of the blue question, sure she had family, but they were a great deal of distance away. Eying Kiefer a bit st looked back over toward the far mountains that had been her home when she was little, to her and her brother. Remembering the waterfall she and her brother were banned from, oh those were the days, of making Lucky mad day after day.
"I have family, but they live, way, over there." She pointed with a wing. "Quite the distance walking, if I were hurt." She nodded stomping a hoof, "Which I'm not. Do you have family around these parts?" she asked.
Stepping around Kiefer carefully, Wica let her wings open at her sides. Stretching them almost completely straight up before they folded once more across her back and sides. She pondered on going home once, but she was liking her new freedom too much to go back just yet.
"Nevermind that question, it seems too... Intrusive. And even if I was hurt, I wouldn't go home, I would be too tired to climb the jagged path to the lake where my parents have settled." She shrugged. "That and I like my freedom too much, even if something haunts my shadow."

Oops. The mare didn't seem particularly offended by his question, but she certainly didn't think it was something proper to ask. Of course she wouldn't. It was a stupid thing to say. Just like always, he opened his mouth and something came out of it that shouldn't have come out. Like a stupid personal question to a complete stranger.
"Yea..." he said slowly. "I've got a big family. Lots of aunts and uncles, cousins. I think some of my cousins have foals" he said. In truth, he hadn't really met most of his family. Only his grandparents and a few aunts and cousins, out side of his direct family, that is. "But they aren't around here. That way" he said, nodding in the opposite direction of the mountains.
He never realized how far he tended to wander. Very, it seemed. He would just walk and walk, not really going anywhere, and then, when he got somewhere, he would never be sure if that was where he wanted to be. It was so hard to not get lost, and so hard to keep track of where he was and where his loved ones were.
"Oh...Sorry" he said, when she called it intrusive. "But... I do understand the freedom thing. As soon as I grew up from being a foal I was off. I haven't really seen my parents more then a few times, since" he said, a bit ashamed of how things were.
