How long had it been since Coaxoch had died...? Three months, by his count. Two months since her mate, and everyone else he had even remotely cared about had left him. All dead. He had always thought that he would never be alone again... not when he had Coaxoch and her mate, and her children... the children. He had never liked kids especially, but he missed them... he even missed them. He clearly needed to stop all of his brooding and think more on revenge. It had been a long time since he had been a con-man.

Longer still since he had been alone... all that time he and his sister had always had each other. Now he really was alone. No good. He needed to get back in the game.

So he wandered the lands, stealing what he could from whoever he could find... tricking those around him into thinking that he was their friend before he took everything he could and then left. He still didn't need to hunt his own food.

He still had all the tricks in the books memorized. He might be alone, and unable to do some of his more fun cons which involved two... but he could be a one-man show. He might be lonlier, but most lions were still stupid.

He lounged under a small group of trees and yawned, thinking to himself. He had taken an entire family's meal, and their small, pretty collection of jewlery only the day before. The father had gotten in his way, and he had... dealt with him, and moved on.

Now... which con next, and who to pull it on? He missed having two lions. It was always more fun with two... but he would never trust anyone like he had Coaxoch.

Tia'fitna was bored. But then, this wasn't something new. It seemed even though she had left her "paradise" of a home nothing got any more interesting. It really was a shame. She had even tried to play a few "games" with those she met and they hadn't been very exciting. There was nothing to do but...keep looking. Life couldn't be completely full of idiots, now could it?

She slipped her runt form through the the blotchy shadows of the trees. At first she was just attempting to do something relatively amusing...but then she caught a scent. Curious she jumped up into the limbs of the nearest tree, moving with expertise. Lions weren't normally good at such things, but coming from a pride in the jungle gave her an advantage. Plus, she was small, that didn't hurt either.

She sliped agiley across one branch to jump to another tree. There she moved slowly down to a lower branch and dangled her tail a bit as she smiled slyly, "Well, well, taking a rest are we?"

Suprise. That was something that affected other lions, but Eztil had never been one to be shocked... He wasn't jumpy. That didn't make it any less odd that a lion was speaking to him from a tree though. He tilted his head and looked up at her, a slow smirk coming to his mouth, showing his razor sharp teeth. The smirk only lasted for a secon though, then it changed to a simple, happy, naive smile. "Oh my... Now that is something you don't see every day. Lions in trees, what will they think of next?"

This was one classy little lioness. Her gold... he had only ever seen that on humans before, and he had only ever killed one of those before in his life. Pretty... good for trading if it came to that, with bigger lions who he probably couldn't kill or escape. They could be useful... which meant he only had to get them from her.

How fun. Now... how to play this little game?

Sadly, this was a game Tia was an expert at. The Innocent act? She had nearly mastered it. When she chose to use it, anyway. "Ohh, where I come from we all do it," she murmured innocently, batting her eyeslashes in false shock. "Are you saying you don't know...?" she took in a breath, implying that it was quite a handicap to not be able to do such a thing. Whether or not she actually felt that way was impossible to tell. But she loved to prod at people and see how they'd react...it was just a small way to get some pleasure.

"Oh no my dear..." Eztil shook his head, standing up and cracking his back as he did so, "Climbing trees is something... I don't really make a general practise of. I don't generally find a need to do it. You, however, seem quite comfortable up there." Which she did. Eztil couldn't help but grin... he had told the truth, he could climb trees... but honestly, he couldn't be bothered most of the time. There was no real trick too it.

"So, what brings a nice lioness like you to a place like this?" He asked with a small joke. Not serious, not really questioning... comfort was his aim, but there was undoubtebly something smart about this lioness. A twinkle in her eye... it reminded him of Coaxoch, and anything that reminded him of his sister needed to be watched carefully. He was not in the habit of being tricked, her prefurred to be the trickster.

"Oh my, you make it sound so awful," Tia crooned, leaning he cheek against the branch she was perched on, "As if only horrible people come way out here." As if he were, in fact, one of those less then honest people that should be out here. Interesting. "But I'm just wandering, you see, left my home a while ago," she continued in the same girly sweet voice.

"Oh? All alone then." Eztil said, his voice the same sickly sweet, as he brushing up against the bottum of the tree where she was resting, "All alone in a tree... very poetic."

"Oh, not so," she murmured very seriously, to the point where one might have assumed for a moment that she had a friend near by. But as she leaned back it was clear her response was not quite so simple...not with that twinkle she had in her eye. "How could I be? You're here," she murmured.

Eztil looked thoughtful for a moment, then he nodded, still all good nature, "Ah, yes you are so very correct. One can never be alone when they are in the presence of another... yet I've heard it said that one can be completely alone, no matter how many are around them." Philosophy was fun... made one look smarter and deeper than they could, or could not, actually be.

...but this girl... she was like Coaxoch. He had never really seen another lioness with that... glint in her eye. They were playing a game with each other... she was playing innocent and so was he. Testing each other, in his mind. Interesting. Fun.

"In an emotional sense, perhaps...but physically, we're never alone, no matter how much we may wish to be," Tia yawned, implying the subject was a dull one. Self pity, feeling alone...such irrelavent things. They were such a waste of time and effort. She much prefered trying to get something done. She didn't care if she was "alone" or not. Life went on anyway and so did she.

"Ah, not one for philosophies now are you." Eztil smiled, "My kind of lioness. Shall we dispose of these pleasentries then? Or are you still having fun?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:11 pm

"Ahhh, now now, don't make assumptions," Tia corrected, as if she were the older of the two, which was obviously not the case. "Not one for philosophies unless it suits my purpose," she edited. She rolled her shoulders slightly in a shrug after that, her earings swaying as she turned her head, "If you call these pleasentries. And there are better games, I'm sure you realize."

"I find I agree with you on all counts." Eztil grinned, "Philosophy is only useful when you can use it to impress those around you. And I do find this entirely pleasent... but pleasent is often not entirely fun. In fact, it can be dull... unless the other party is fooled. Which neither of us is, as far as I can see. And so, as you put it, there are better games."

She leaned forward, murmuring in a still pleasant voice, "If that is what you believe..." The corner of her mouth twitched and her eyes slid to narrow slightly, attitude outright reflected in the yellow retinas, "...why are you still blathering on like that?"

"To put it simply my dear, it is in my nature." Eztil shrugged, a smirk flowing onto his face, though his voice was perfectly pleasent, "I enjoy being... friendly. Even if I don't mean a word I say."
