It was the first day that Ghost could wander off on her own, since her kids had finally grown, and Hesperos needed to go see his own family. The mare was feeling fresh and new, but a part of her was still worried, since it was the first day she had ever been without her children at her side. Even after the kids had grown, they clung around her for a few days, before realizing it was time for them to experience things on their own.
Ghost was happy knowing that her children would visit her, but she was also sad, because she knew how distant she had become with her own parents.
Either way, she wasn't going to let these motherly feelings bring her down, and she decided to happily make her way throughout a field while trudging through small amounts of ice and snow. At least the wintertime was nice and peaceful, and it was helping her change her thoughts to something more controlled and happy.

Aretmis had heard whisperings that she was going to be a grandmother again. even with her last three now fully grown, she hadn't seen them in such a while and here was Bes having more children. She really was starting to feel old!
She moved along the crispy grass, it was a strange feeling walking on the ice and snow and she couldn't help but wonder how Tenebrus and Ahana were. They both showed Kalona traits more then any of her other children and because of it she hadn't seen them for goodness knows how long. She had accepted that the same was happening with Shadrach. Though he did not look like one, in his mind he was as good as one and had been agressive since birth. Thankfully Besyrwan, Thaddeus and Grath were reasonably normal even though her dear Thaddy had his fathers wings. She would find them all at some point, just to check the winter was hurting them too much. She also would have to find Christabel and see how she was doing. Being pregnant in such harsh weather couldn't be fun!
As she walked she let her eyes wander just as much as her mind, however both her eyes and mind stopped wandering when they saw a mare they couldn't help but recognise.
"Ghost?" Artemis called out to the other mare before quickening her pace somewhat. Oh how wonderful to see the lovely mare once again!

Ghost quickly snapped out of her own thoughts to see a very familiar mare. The brown was extremely noticeable to her eyes, and the curls were only proving to her that Artemis had arrived! "Hello, Artemis! What a surprise!" A wide smile formed on Ghost's face, and she could only skitter over to where Artemis was standing. "My, hoe long has it been?"
It really had been too long since the two mares had caught up, and it was the perfect conversation to boost Ghost's thoughts up! "Artemis, you really look great! Tell me what is new in your life? How are your children?" Ghost then realized that she had had her own children that Artemis did not know about! "It has been so long, that even my own children have grown up!" She giggled lightly, while bringing her eyes back on the mare. "I took all of the motherly advice you gave me, so raising my children was a breeze! You really had the best advice of all!" And she could never thank her friend enough for that!
"Have you seen the stallion you spoke of last time, or are you still looking for him? I was always hoping that you could see him again." Since.. she knew now a life without the one you loved was very hard. At the time, she had no idea of Artemis' pain.

Artemis listened to everything the mare said and a smile crossed her face.
"Oh i am so glad to hear you have had your own children! I am glad you found it easy to bring them up! I can not remember whether or not I had my second litter when i spoke to you last to answer your question. I have not seen Thestral since the day my youngest were conceived. Also I am to be a grandmother again if the rumours are to be true, Besyrwan's mate is pregnant once again."
There really was so much to catch up on and Artemis really couldn't remember what it was they spoke about last. She was getting old, clearly!

Ghost really couldn't remember either, and she could only grin and laugh with the other mare. "My goodness, well congratulations anyhow! You are waay ahead of me I am afraid. My children just grew up, so I am sure it will be awhile for grandchildren." The thought was a nice one, but Ghost wasn't sure if she was ready for that sort of thing yet! "How exciting, that you will be a grandmother again. I bet you can't wait!"
Artemis still looked youthful and wise, and Ghost could only stare at her with a certain awe on her face. "And your second litter, how are they? Did you have sons or daughters?" She tilted her head, wondering how many other children Aretmis had this time. "Are you planning on having more some day?"
Ghost didn't know how she felt about being a mother again, and if anything, she would probably wait a bit before deciding! "Being a mother is so wonderful, isn't it?"

Artemis laughed as well and smiled as she listened to Ghost.
"I had two sons and a daughter again! Shadrach, he is strange, he looks like a regular stallion but his mind is that of a Kalona, so he is gone. Thaddeus and Grath are lovely though. Thaddeus has his fathers wings but is a softie really. I would love to have more children one day but you know... it depends on when I ever see Thestral! I miss him so much." She smiled still, she may miss her mate but that was just something she had to get use to! Sometimes he would be around, sometimes he wouldn't.
"It is wonderful, I love it! How is life for you now your children are grown then?" She was curious, she hadn't found it that hard. Then again with her children having Kalona tendancies, it was best for them to find their own way in the world.

Ghost felt awful that Artemis couldn't be with Thestral all the time, but it was what it was. "Heh, it sounds like you had some wonderful children! I hope I get to see them out sometime, that would be nice." She paused slightly, hoping that her own children could meet Artemis sometime.
"My life has been an adventure, that's for sure. I was lucky to have two boys and one girl, and they are all so different and unique. I guess it is a bit strange that they have grown up already, but I am sure my mother felt the same way." With a flip of her bangs, she could only imagine how her mother handled everything! "Once children grow up, you realize how much free time you have for yourself again. I really can't complain, since I like wandering off on my own sometimes." With a light nod, she never realized how similar her experience was compared to Artemis'!
"I really hope you can find Thestral again, I know I always say that repeatedly. Hesperos tends to go back and forth with his family, but I really am spoiled that he is around. You are so strong, Artemis." She meant her words, and knew that Artemis had endured a lot by herself. At least she sounded happy, though! It wasn't all about the gloom.

Artemis smiled at Ghost, oh what a lovely friend she was!
"Oh I would love for you to meet some of them at some point. With Bes's mate expecting more children its possible you might even meet my grandkids one day!" She chuckled and looked at the sky for a little while.
"Yes you do, though I find it can be a little lonely without them getting in your way the whole time!" She gave a small laugh and then looked back at Ghost. "Then again I guess thats what grandchildren are for!" Though she had only met one of her grandkids. Well maybe one day she would meet the others.
"Oh I won't fine Thestral, I have learnt that he only turns up when he wants to! I don't mind, he normally finds me when I really need him, which is what matters I suppose and thank you." She didn't think that she was that strong, she just lived. She had a good life really, it could be alot worse.

It seemed that Artemis found a peaceful balance between the grandchildren she was getting, and the fact that she never really saw Thestral. At least the family was continuing to grow, and that probably shielded away any lonely thoughts for the brown mare. "Well, I am just glad to see you so happy. Since that is what is most important of all!"
"And I will look for your grandchildren sometime, since I am sure they will be as kinda and pleasant as you are." If anything, finding her grandchildren would be an utter treat! Ghost wasn't ready for that chapter of her life to hit, and she was glad that her children, although big now, were not interested in having children at the moment.
"Do you have any other plans for your family?" She then asked, while flicking her bangs out of her eyes. "It sounds like you are keeping yourself busy with the upcoming grandchildren, but I just figured I'd ask anyhow." Maybe Artemis had more news going on? Or maybe it was as simple as she said! "I just like to keep up with what is going on in your life." Ghost then admitted, with a slight blush.

Artemis coudn't help but smile as Ghost spoke. She was indeed happy but any more plans? No she couldn't have more children not yet but maybe one day.
"Plans? No I don't think so. Let life just go for a while I think. I could do with some time to just be well, me. Relaxing is probably a good plan, for now at least! Any plans yourself?" Artemis was just as interested in Ghost's life as she was her own. She loved to hear about what it was that was happening.

Ghost never really thought about if she had any plans, and she rolled her eyes to the sky while in thought. "I think I am going to take my daughter off for awhile, so Hesperos can be with the boys. She is a flutter like me, so I'd like to show her, when the Spring permits, areas with flowers in bees, since that is were I most enjoy." She wanted Porsche to experience the simple things she always loved, even if their personalities were so different.
"But besides that, I really have no plans myself. Just as you do, I take life as it comes everyday, and hope for the best." With a big nod, she giggled at Artemis and flapped her wings happily. "Do you think you will be busy babysitting when the grandchildren arrive? That would probably be so much fun!"

Artemis smiled, it sounded lovely, being able to spend that time with her daughter. She could probably spend time with at least one of her's but it was just one of those things that she wasn't really sure about. She loved to give her children space and wait for them to come to her instead of the other way round.
"That does sound lovely. I don't know if I will be or not, Christabel and Besyrwan are great parents and would be able to look after the children well I expect. I would hope to see them alot though and to watch them grow. It might make me feel old but it is such a beautiful thing to see!" She smiled remembering when the last two were just mere foals. They were so cute, a little annoying but adorable.

"Getting old just means we are getting wiser." Ghost then said, with a soft chuckle. "Although it was strange the first time around, I really enjoyed watching the children grow. I can imagine it is just as fun with grandchildren!" Aretmis seemed to be the expert on children, and Ghost hoped that she could continue to be as confident on the subject as the brown mare in front of her.
"So if you have no plans, do you think you are just going to hang around the family for awhile? That is usually the best thing." Ghost didn't want Artemis to be alone or anything, and she hoped she could keep herself busy without Thestral around. "You are always welcome to come stay with my daughter and I."

Artemis smiled, "Oh you are so kind though I would not want to intrude! I don't believe I will be with the family much, each seems to have their own life, though Besyrwan I believe is still the only one to have a family." She smiled though not showing the sadness she did feel. It was lonely sometimes, knowing you weren't needed. She knew she was loved though and she hoped that her two sons would return one day, both off living Kalona lives, her daughter too. At least she had two sons and a daughter she could see sometimes.
"I do hope you enjoy your mother and daughter time. It is a precious moment." She smiled at the younger female. Oh Ghost was such a wonderful friend she truely was!

"You wouldn't be intruding! If you ever need anything you are welcome to stop by." Ghost then nodded happily while sensing the doubt in the other female's voice. She was happy to be there for her, and she would never exclude her like that! "I will be sure to enjoy the precious time I have.. you are the one who has taught me about children and motherhood you know! I was afraid to have children until I talked to you." And Ghost was thankful, since Artemis showed her the wonderful things that come with being a mother.
"And you enjoy the time you have as a grandmother, since before you know it, you may even be a great grandmother!" Ghost didn't want to offend Artemis of course, but it was always an option when having children!
