Anga was off for an adventure, or so she was convinced. As she jogged along, she could feel her necklace bounce around her neck- which reminded her of where she was going. It wasn't easy to escape mama's vigilant watch, but she'd managed to get away and she was determined that she would go and see her father. It was more fun when he was around, or so the cub imagined it to be- since he was around, but didn't always stay with them.. it just seemed so exciting when he was around!
And besides, she was curious about why he'd be all the way out here instead of with mama and the pride like the rest of them! Angavu had not gotten away completely unnoticed! Mnyama was very proud that she had spotted the girl sneaking off, and honestly was rather excited to have something to do- she hadn't tattled on the girl, she knew that it wouldn't go over well doing something like that! Mn wouldn't like Tuli tattling on her, so instead the dark hare decided to go and fetch the cub herself. "Angaaa!" she called after the cub, hopping along to catch up, "Wait for me!"

Angavu had snuck off away from the den without Shiri, Meme, or Hodari noticing. It if were not for Mnyama's sudden movements, the young male might have missed everything that was happening. Turning to get a look of just where Mnyama was off to, Hodari's eyes went wide. Trotting along at a rather quick pace was his younger sister. Where was Anga going!?
Although Kei visited them constantly, the fact that he was not always around forced Hodari to be more of the father figure than he already was. Hodari took his role as first born very seriously, even without a thrown to eventually take over. He was bigger than his siblings and would need to protect them. He couldn't imagine life if anything happened to any of them!
Scrambling to his feet, Hodari slinked away from his other two brothers and managed to get away unnoticed. Shiri had been speaking with Meme, Cheshi and Sungura and so it was not difficult to disappear. Once he was out of earshot of the others, he sped up and struggled to catch his sister. "Angavu! Where do you think you're going? Mom wouldn't like us out here by ourselves!"

Anga mentally winced at the sound of two familiar voices calling after her- Mnyama had seen her leave, and Hodari too. At least it wasn't mama who noticed, she definitely would have been taken back home in no time. At least against her brother and the hare, she had a chance of staying out and about. Maybe she could even convince them not to go and tell on her! She stumbled to a stop and turned around, sticking her tongue out at them.
"I'm just going to see daddy, Hodari," she said matter-of-factly, since it was he who pointed out that their mother wouldn't like this, "She shouldn't mind that, you guys can come with me!"
Mnyama wasn't so quick to accept that someone else had tagged along as she 'd chased after Angavu. She didn't even really think about it until Anga stopped and talked to them. At which point, she glanced back and sighed.
"Sneaking off, tsk tsk!" she scolded, though she was grinning widely- sneaking off was something she'd done as a kitten.

Sirati did not know the meaning of the word 'lost'. Either that or she simply refused to admit it to herself. However, she was lost. She didn't really mind it all that much. She'd been wandering around the Rogue Lands for quite some time now. She knew that when she finally found her family, they were not going to be pleased. At least she could show them that she could survive on her own. For the most part, anyway.
She was a bit thinner, as food had not been instantly provided for her by her mother. She'd managed to find some food here and there, and she'd been helped by a few other lions along the way. Her bright red paws continued their relentless track through the dried grass, her sky-blue gaze taking in her surroundings with mild interest. Her current goal: water. After that, she should probably find a way back to her mother and father. Her nose had just picked up the faint scent of water nearby, when another of her senses was assaulted. Her ears pricked forward as she hear the sound of voices nearby. Being the curious youth that she was, she delighted in meeting new people, and maybe she could find some friends to play with.
She continued through the underbrush, until she spied two cubs, only slightly younger than her, speaking with a hare. The two cubs looked different than her brother and sisters, and she wondered why. Sirati wasn't shy at all, so, her mind made up, she marched straight up to the trio and said, "Hello."

Hodari's ears lowered when his sister quickly in turned and stuck out her tongue. He often recieved a similar response for his behavior with his siblings, but he only wished for the best for them. Angavu was only a cub and they had so much to learn. Twisting his mouth off to the side, as though he was thinking of some reason why she shouldn't continue, Hodari only managed to say quietly, "Yea...well.. You should have told mom first!"
Angavu's reason for leaving was far more curious to Hodari than tattling or having the two return home. Glancing over towards Mnyama, he smiled and suddenly looked enthusiastic to the idea, "Will you come with us, Mnyama? Mama probably would feel better if we had company.." Hodari still knew that Shiri would be incredibly nervous about her cubs exploring with only the supervision of a young hare, but the prospect of seeing their father was inspiration enough to put it to the back of his mind.
At the sound of Sirati's voice, Hodari's fur stood on end and the poor cub's eyes widened. It was just their luck that on their first adventure they would bump into a dangerous stranger! Upon further inspection, Hodari noticed that the approaching stranger was actually a young lion like themselves. In comparisson, however, she was thin and had other strange differences.
Boldly, Hodari stepped forward before Angavu and Mnyama and spoke for the group. "Who are you? Are you a pridelander?"

Anga watched Hodari very carefully, fighting the simultaneous urges to grin and yell. He wasn't looking like he was going to go and tattle on her, but she wanted to be sure- when he finally spoke up, she did grin. As long as Mnyama wore that wide, hypocritical grin, Angavu had no intention of acknowledging her scolding. She had a feeling the hare would be on her side, it was Hodari that she had to worry about. She was so intent on watching him, though, that she did not notice the newcomer until she'd spoken up and Hodari had gone and rudely asked who she was.
"Hodari!" Angavu scolded in her best mama-imitation, hopping over to her brother to examine the stranger. Sirati did not look much bigger than them or very dangerous, to Angavu at least.
Mnyama had to bite back a laugh at the pair of cubs, she was heartily amused by the situation- especially by the reactions of the two cubs. She was amused until the stranger showed up, anyway. She surprised herself by having the urge to stop Hodari from stepping forward, but then mentally sided with Anga on this one.
She'd never had a problem with strangers, and wasn't going to hesitate to greet this one whether or not Hodari was there. With a smile, the hare hopped forward.
"Hello there," she greeted the little lioness.

Sirati suppressed the urge to giggle at the two cubs' attitude. Obviously their mother had well impressed the idea of "stranger danger" upon them. These cubs did look rather different. They looked nothing like her or her sisters and brother. Their colorings weren't that different, it was just the way they were built. Sira hadn't realized that there were lions that didn't look like her.
"Pridelander? What's a pridelander?" asked Sirati. As always, she was very curious. Sirati noticed, with interest, the small hare that hopped forward. She was a little surprised, as her family didn't normally socialize with hares, unless they were for dinner, but she didn't want to be rude. She returned the greeting by saying, "Hello."
Sirati wondered absently if either of these two cubs could direct her back to her own lands. She doubted it, but maybe the hare would know. Or the cubs' parents.

Hodari, so used to being the one calling on his siblings, lowered his ears when his younger sister commented on how he addressed the stranger. As intelligent as he might have been at times, he was still a cub and had much to learn. Once his sister had finished scolding him, he slipped farther from her to get a better look at the new cub. She was beige, almost yellow, like some pridelanders, but had a very distinct bright red on all of her paws, tail and head. She was curious, Hodari decided.
When Mnyama greeted the stranger, Hodari's lowered ears raised again and he listened carefully. He was growing more and more interested in this stranger. She was rather far from the center of the pridelands. Was she from somewhere else, or did she simply wander off as they had?
"What's a pridelander?" Hodari suddenly asked, as though he had been entirely shocked that this cub did not know of them. "I'm a pridelander! We're all called pridelanders because this is the pridelands. It's our home. Home to many lions who all live together..."
And with wide eyes, Hodari continued to question Sirati, "So you aren't from here? Where do you live then?"

Anga smiled when Mnyama hopped forward to say hello, and when Hodari seemed to brighten up a bit. She followed after her brother and the hare to get a closer look at Sirati, always wearing a welcoming smile.
"More importantly," she said, interrupting Hodari before he could get an answer and cutting off Mnyama before she could talk more, "My name is Angavu, he's Hodari and the hare is Mnyama! What's your name? Are you lost?"
Lost sounded likely to the cub, the stranger didn't know she was in the Pridelands after all!
Mnyama grinned at the interested look on the small lioness when she said hello back. She didn't really imagine that the girl might only have seen hares as meals, instead deciding she must be the first that she'd ever spoken to. With the cubs doing most of the talking, the hare stood back to just watch- but not without a friendly wink at Sirati.

Sirati smiled ruefully at what she had obviously gotten herself into to, but not without a smile. After all, she was curious, and she liked to meet new lions and other creatures. With a grin, she set out to answer their questions.
"Hello Angavu, Hodari, and Mnyama. My name is Sirati. And no, I am not from here. My homelands are the Kusini'Mwezi lands, and I guess you could say that I am lost. I've been wandering for awhile, away from home, and I don't know how to get back. I'd hoped that maybe I would run into someone who could tell me how to get back."
There. Before this, Sira hadn't wanted to tell anyone that she had been wandering, but she was ready to finally get back home. She wanted to see her mother and father, even though she knew they would be angry with her for wandering away and being gone for so long. Even though, it had only been about a week, to her, it seemed like much longer.

When Angavu cut Hodari off and began to speak, the cub's ears lowered and he became quiet. Although he was the eldest and often took this position to mean that he was the one to address situations like this, he adored his sister and couldn't become mad at her. When his sister introduced them by name, he felt a bit embarassed. How could he have forgotten? Mama always said to introduce yourself properly!
And before Hodari could speak, the new lioness began to answer all their questions. Perking his ears back up again, the dark cub smiled and listened curiously. "The Kusini'Mwezi lands?" Hodari asked now, feeling a bit bad for not knowing of the pride. Shiri had told them that the pridelands were only one pride and that many others surrounded them. She did not know the details of the others, however.
Hodari thought carefully and then found himself speaking in a hurry, as though he was worried he'd be cut off again, "I don't know where your home is, but i'm sure we can ask someone and get you directions!"

"Sirati is a pretty name," Anga said brightly, intent on keeping the conversation lighter now that she'd managed to get some control over it. She looked over at Hodari curiously when Sirati mentioned the Kusini'mwezi lands, wondering if he might know where it was by some crazy chance. When he suggested asking someone, she nodded enthusiastically.
"I bet if mama doesn't know, gram might," she said optimistically, "Or maybe if we found dad."
Smiling, she looked over to Mnyama.
The hare listened carefully, rubbing her nose thoughtfully as she did. She'd never heard of much outside of the Pridelands. Her parents hadn't always been so close to the center of the Pride, but they'd never mentioned being near any other prides.
"I'm sure someone will know," she agreed.

Sirati smile happily at the three of them. What an unusual group they made! Two cubs that were both lions as well, yet they looked very different from her, and a hare! Sirati wished that she had hares around her lands for her to talk to.
She hoped that they would be able to help her to find a way home. Her parents were likely to be missing her by now, and she didn't want to hurt her father again. He had a delicate composition and she'd already caused him pain before, in an incident by the river. The last thing she wanted was to bright about his untimely demise.
Sira grinned at Hodari, Angavu, and Mnyama. "Yes, the Kusini'Mwezi lands. My whole family lives there, but I'm just not sure how to find my way back. Who do you think we should ask, though? I don't want to get you guys in trouble."

As Sirati and Angavu spoke to one another, Hodari looked back towards his home that he and his sister had wandered off from. It would take them a little while to return to the den, but once they were there, there would be a variety of others to ask that knew much more than they did. Like Angavu had mentioned, between their mother and grandmother, someone was bound to know something.
It was only when Sirati mentioned the comment of getting into trouble that Hodari's ears perked and he turned back to face them. "Oh yea.. I didn't even think about that.." Lowering his ears against his head, the cub suddenly looked really guilty. Angavu had been the one to run off first, but he wasn't one to tell on his little sister.
"Well.. maybe we can find dad." He remembered that was why they had left in the first place and hoped that his sister had been right. If Kei knew they were only looking for him, perhaps he wouldn't get into as much trouble. "Best thing to do now is to continue on, I guess.." And once Hodari had finished speaking, he began to continue out farther, still bordering the pridelands. "I remember seeing dad around here one--" The cub stopped and then grinned. "DAD!"
As though their wishes had come true, a large beast of a lion could be seen from a few miles out. He had thick black fur and a flowing white mane, making him stand out boldly upon the golden grassland beneath him. As he neared, he could clearly hear the excitement in his son's voice and witness the pleased expression. "Hodari! Angavu! What are you two doing so far out? Are you sure your mother would approve?" Kei was quick to speak, but as he did so, he leaned down to nuzzle his two cubs. Once he lifted his head up, he noticed the other cub. "And making friends, I see?"

Anga puffed up arrogantly at the mention of getting in trouble, sure they wouldn't as long as they were.. selective with what they told mom. They would be just fine, especially if they were helping a lost lion! No one could get mad at them for doing something like that. Before even Hodari noticed, Anga spotted their father heading towards them and immediately she perked up. She hadn't actually expected to find him, or to have him find her, though that had been the point of her adventure.
"Dad!" she cried after Hodari, skipping closer to him and nuzzling back against him enthusiastically.
"Sirati is lost!" Anga wasted no time explaining the situation, "Do you know where she lives?"
Mnyama wasn't paying as much attention to their surroundings and was focused more on the conversation. She smiled at Sira, who was clearly a very considerate lioness if she was worried about getting the others into trouble.
"If we have to, we can just say I found you," she offered brightly, the hare was always getting into trouble- it didn't bother her. She started when suddenly Hodari and Angavu shouted and looked up to see Kei had arrived very suddenly.
"Whoa, hello," Mn greeted him.
