Yeah, it gets pretty bloody. It's painfully fake looking though, and I think they really intended it to be that way, which made it more artistic in my eyes. Everything is dark and gloomy, very dank, and then they've got this bright red spray going on, lol.
But really, it's not so bad as you think. My friend hates blood, but she was perfectly fine with this movie. :] She said the use of blood was used tastefully enough, and I agree. xD
But yeah, it's an amazing movie so convince away!!! <333
Though, if your parents are sensitive to odd things, they might not like the idea of people being burned in a furnace and made into pies, lol.

It threw me and my girlfriend off when we saw the trailer in theaters over December... sweatdrop
Cause when Depp started singing it was a tad odd...XD
But I knew of the play from a long time back (my mom's instilled Musical lore into me from a very young age...XP) and wanted to see it. Just thought Tim Burton really wasn't the one to direct the movie... The Play hada grittier feel to it stylisticly and the movie put's on too much of a bleak gothic image as it's made. It's like trying to splice Nightmare Before Christmas with a rather well done gritty noir historical peice. And then you get the film.
But I may end up seeing it eventually...XP
