This was the first day that Jicho had dared to leave the entrance of the home that he had always known. He knew that there were many more things out here, and though it was normally forbidden to leave, and speak to 'heathens', as what the older folk of the Mteo'nyungu called strangers, Jicho knew of the face that there were very few of them left, and it didn't help that nearly all of them were related to one another. Someone had to take some action, and being the heir to the throne, Jicho took it upon himself to begin this action, of at least learning a bit more about these outsiders.
His black coat had always stuck out from the rest of the pride, and out here, it seemed not a whole lot different, at least against the foliage and grasses. He didn't mind, though, as long as he could keep himself out of the direct sunlight when the sun was at it's highest.
Picking his way through the grasses, he made his way to a small group of trees, wanting to rest there for a moment before looking for a watering hole to take a drink.

Siri had felt the need to wander afar again, getting complacent with the area she had stayed in for the past few moons. She wandered south, into a new territory. It wasnt quite like the sea, but it was beautiful in its own right.
Grateful to the breeze that made it bearable for her to move in midday, Siri began to look for a place to take a drink; and possibly a rest. She finally found a pleasant place to get a drink, only to find another lion already there.
Or nearly there, anyways. She tilted her head at the sight of him... she had never seen another lion who was black like her. Sure, there had been that grumpy lion she had met a while back, but he was an unusual pitch black.
No, this lion was almost exactly the same shade as her, with a bright white mane and strange markings.
Slowly padding down to the waters edge, she began to lap tentatively at the water, making sure to keep an ear out for the other lion nearby. After all, she didnt know if she was in another prides territory.

(fyi, the purple mark is a snake marking on his back *should of mentioned earlier, probably*)
After his quick rest under a tree, Jicho suddenly developed a terribly thirst, and wanted to find that pervoiusly thought watering hole to try and get rid of this annoying feeling. It seemed so much worse to him then the rest of his family at times, but it must of been his black coat.
He slipped through the grasses again, walking a bit speedily so he could reach the watering hole before the sun seemed to get him too much again. Of course, moving quickly wasn't too smart, since it was harder to see the things you might trip on. And while he wasn't physically super close to the othe rlion, it still startled him to see another so close without him noticing.
"Oh!" he started, jumping back only a tiny bit since her sudden appearance startled him. He took a deep breath, letting his heart slow down a bit. Yikes. "S-sorry," he apologized, "you startled me there. May I...take a drink?"

Siri was slightly surprised by his reaction to her presence. Normally, it was she who asked for forgiveness, always afraid of stepping on others territories. At least now she knew for certain she wasnt. If she was, the other lion certainly wouldnt have asked her for permission.
Not much for words, Siri smiled and nodded, then continued with her slow lapping until she was content. Sitting back on her haunches she studied the males markings. They were interesting to say the least. He had some white one him, like her. But his markings were more complex, and a little strange.
She decided quickly that she liked his mane the most though. So pretty and white! Shaking those thoughts out of her mind, she decided she would strike up a conversation, to get some footing on the territory.
"Are you a rogue?" It seemed rather abrupt, so she added in the next part to make it polite. No use starting a fight over something small like that. "I have not traveled to this part of the Savannah before, and wish to learn about it."

A rogue? Was that...like a stranger? He was unfamiliar with the term, but taking into thought what else she had added onto that question, perhaps she meant something like that. Well, he was, in a way.
"Sort of," he answered hesitantly, still thinking about his reply. "My home isn't too far form here, and actually everything out here is still very new to me." Especially the fact that tripping onto strangers, other lions and creatures that he never knew about was all a bit to take in, though he didn't feel anything against them, like some of his 'home' would.
"BUt I can guess that you are, then?" Maybe...so many things he would normally say, but he tried to speak a bit more...adult-like?...while out here. He did need to act it, especially if he was scouting for potential members. THat is, if he remembered ot ever mention that part to anyone.

"Ah, so you have a pride then?" Siri guessed as much from his answer. Normally roving lions did not have a home persay, unless they had a family.
Siri inclined her head slightly. "Yes, I am a rogue lion." It would be interesting to see this pride, especially if they were all strangely marked like this lion. However, it probably wouldnt be possible. Often times, the prides she had met were territorial and protective of their homes... which was to be understood. Not everyone had good intentions.

"Home, yeah," he confirmed, nodding his head. "Pride's probably the proper term for it. The Mteo'nyungu." He always felt an ounce of pride when repeating the title of his pride, mainly because of the warmth he felt there (most of the time, anyway), and how that someday he would take on head, when his father passed. Bittersweet, though, at the same time.
"We're uhh....not too far form here," he said, though he didn't really point out from what direction, since he didn't know if that would be a dangerous stunt or not. She seemed nice, and alone, but maybe he'd feel a bit more confident if he got to know her a bit more.
He filed the fact that she aws a rogue away, and would maybe ask her a couple things later.

She couldnt blame him for not telling her where the pride was; and she filed it away that she was near the pride to make an effort to avoid it later. She hated to overstep boundaries and tried her best to avoid conflict.
"The Mteo'nyungu... whats it like?" She couldnt help but ask. She didnt know much about the different prides and their traditions, but she had always been curious.

"Ummm," he said, pausing a moment to try and remember the bits he knew about the rogues that wandered the lands. Well, maybe they weren't all different in definition as from other pride members, according to the older ways of thinking of the Mteo'nyungu, but they had to be somewhat different, if they wandered alone with nothing guaranteed for them. Admiration grew in his chest for them as he dwindled over his thoughts for a moment longer.
"Well, it's certainly different. We're...kind of secluded with a natural barrier, so we don't have to worry too much about others. My parents sure are nice, as is my younger sibilings, but...some of the older ones are a b***h grouchy about things, but maybe that's just because they're old." He grinned, trying to keep a laugh inside as he swiped at the dirt before him. "Plus, the earth is much redder than this, it's really pretty in the height of the day. Though, with a black coat..." he laughed.

Siri had met a few old lions, and they sure were grouchy. A smile played on her maw at the same time as the other lion. Hopefully not all old people were grouchy though... she hoped desperately that when she got on in her years that she would be nice.
She thought for a few seconds on this lion before her. He was kind of unsettling, in a good way. His slightly childish attitude was calming in a way; she didnt feel nervous around him like she did around others. When he mentioned the black coat, she smiled and finished the sentence for him "Nothing looks good except a patch of shade." Siri joined in his laughter.

"Exactly!" It was so nice to have someone agree and understand just what it was like to have a black coat! Sure, his twin had a black coat, but...they didn't really speak anymore. Jicho didn't like it, but he grew to understand bits of his sister's way of thinking, and knew that it wasn't in his best interests.
"Especially when everyone else around you doesn't quite understand why the sun hurts so much," he said, wincing a bit as if to gain a bit of pity, and maybe even a bit more of mutual understanding from the lioness. "The rest of my family are red and brown, besides my twin."
He swishes his tail, feeling much more relaxed as he did before. Strangers were never always scary, she was proof enough for that!

She remember the teasing from her siblings every time she had refused to go out and play with them midday. She was the only one born with a dark coat, the rest of them were whites and greys with only a few black markings. "I know what you mean." She grimaced slightly also. "My siblings were also light colored."
It was good to find someone that understood her, at least in that regard. From what she had seen, there were not many black lions wandering the Sahara. The rest of the lions statement finally registered with Siri.
"You have a twin? I've never met anyone with a twin before. Do you have identical markings then?" She had heard of twins, but had never seen a pair of them before.

"Oh, yes. Shabaha looks very much like me. She's just got a green snake marking along her back, and picked up our father's face markings, while I got my mother's. Otherwise, we're hard to tell apart! Well, when we were cubs; I'm sure that my white mane makes it a little obvious as to who I am."
Oh! Silly fool, always being rude to those he meets. He took a step back, gearing himself up to offer her a bow. He was always one for being polite; probably because he wanted to be his mother's shining knight when he was just a cub. He still felt that in his heart, though. He wanted to be strong for everyone, so here he'd be strong for the outside world, too!
"I am called Jicho, heir to my pride, but pretending to be more like a bumbling fool in these lands that I myself don't know much about. A pleasure to meet you, miss," he said with a smile.

Siri didnt know that you could still be twins if you were different genders- it was very interesting. She smiled at his mane comment however. "Yes, I do imagine it would be rather obvious to tell you apart now."
She was rather surprised when he stepped back from her however. She was even more surprised when he announced that he was the heir to a pride! A verifiable prince. Not really sure what to do with herself, Siri dipped into a clipped bow; not much more than a head bob. Even though she wasnt technically bound by the laws of courtesy, she still felt slightly awkward at not knowing quite what to do.
"Its a pleasure to meet you as well, Jicho. You may call me Siri." She smiled back at him.

Jicho laughed, happy that she seemed to take humor in his comment. It was the truth, and a bit embarassing when he was just a kid. But hey, at least his parents could always tell them apart, especially his mother. Mmm...his mind wandered for a minute about her, before he brought himself back. He'd see her tonight, and would tell her how he met a really nice lioness today. Hopefully she wouldn't take it wrongly.
"Siri is a pretty name," he agreed, bobbing his head a bit enthusiastically as he noticed that she didn't outwardly do anything about him announcing his title. He liked it that way, since he knew he didn't feel any differently than another other lion, especially ones that weren't 'royal'.
He swished his tail behind him, happily. "Can I ask where you're from? Is it far from here?" He was always curious about the outside world, and learning what he could from others was the only way he was going to learn about it.
