She was happy now that she was bigger, as big as her mother even, and could wander further into the water. Her brother still didn't like it as much but she enjoyed the waves crashing around her and the power of it all.
She'd even managed to get used to the feeling of the salt water splashing onto her back. It still stung if she wasn't careful and pulled things open but so long as she was very careful not to flex wings that weren't really there it didn't hurt anymore.
She leaned down to touch her nose to the waves and laughed softly as a small one ran over her nose and almost got in her eyes. The only thing that could be better would be one of her brothers or older sisters here to enjoy the surf with her. Maybe Mama would join her.

The waves hid another, one perhaps as mysterious as Ela herself. Leviathan, self proclaimed god of the sea, lurked just beneath the rolling sea. At times the swirls of his scales could be seen, if one was looking his way.
Had he realized another was present, he probably would have turned and head back to the depths. It wasn't often he dared to come near shore, and he certainly didn't like surfacing when a land dweller was around. They simply weren't something he could trust very easily, unlike the Soquili of the sea.
It was only after his grand finned head broke the waters that he realized the mistake he had made. With an irritated snort he started to go under once more...but something was off The mare before him was by no means normal. He couldn't help but be curious by her odd wings...if they could even be called that.

Her ears had swiveled as she heard something breaking the water's surface but she hadn't thought much of it. She was used to sea creatures, seals occasionally, coming toward the shore. Her mother said they were no worry to them and would often do their best to stay away on their own.
As she lifted her head red eyes widened as she looked at the creature that was before her. She had never seen or heard of anything like this before. It looked like her, or at least the same basic form, but it was covered in things that she usually associated with fish.

Leviathan stepped closer to shore, head held high as more of his body came into view. In his eyes he was a god, and an odd looking land dweller was nothing for him to cower over. He continued to move closer until was just knee deep in the water a bit away from Ela. It was there he stopped to observe.
"...Hello." He offered the greeting after a few moments of silence had passed. It wouldn't hurt him to offer a greeting, but there was no guarantee he'd offer a conversation beyond that.

She tilted her head for a moment before she bowed slightly in greeting. "Hello..." At least he hadn't said anything about her wings, or lack there of, or anything else. New faces weren't always kind.
He also looked like he could be one of those things that might be territorial. She might have wandered off into his land. Though she didn't think she was -that- far from home.

He certainly was eyeing up those wings, but he didn't see reason to call her on them. If one lived with those sorts of things they likely received all kinds of ridicule. No reason to add to it.
As she bowed her head he gave a short nod of his own. At least this land dweller was respectful. It wasn't often he ran across one that had manners. "My name is Leviathan." His voice was filled with pride. "And you are?"

Leviathian? Hadn't she heard something about something called that? Some sort of monster lord of the deep or something like that. She shivered slightly and shifted her weight as one of her hooves started to sink into the sand too much.
"Elattoma ... sir."

"That is a rather beautiful name." He wasn't so sure it fit a creature as weird as she was, but one could not help what they were named. "Do you like the water, Elattoma?" The glint in his eye hinted at a more wild and dangerous side to him. Land dwellers could be tolerated, respected even...so long as they respected the sea in return. Those that dare taint the waters he lived in would face swift justice by the sea serpent.

She nodded slowly as she made sure to keep out of the few larger waves that were rolling in. "My mother loves the water so she taught us all to love it."
The rest of the family didn't always like it as much as her, the salt got to them, but she loved the water. The fish were so pretty and colorful and it was so powerful.

"Your mother sounds very wise." Leviathan gave his own nod, watching as the other shifted to keep out of the larger waves. By the looks of her back, the salt couldn't possibly be comfortable for her. Yet she still made an effort to enjoy it...
Usually, Leviathan would be spreading his own wings to make himself look all the more impressive. But out of respect for the mare and her deformities he kept his wings tightly folded against his body.

She nodded at his comment about her mother. She'd always respected mama's words since she always seemed to know what she was talking about.
She had noticed that along with the fins and such he seemed to have wings of a sort. She'd never seen a fish with wings before. "You ... can fly?" One of her older sisters could and so could her brother and father. She envied them being able to do that and her own little curse than made it so she couldn't. At least maybe she could hope that if she ever had children that they'd be able to fly and wouldn't get her deformity.

The proud stallion gave another short nod. "I can, but I'm afraid I chose not to. The air is not a place for those like me. I belong in the sea, not flying above it."
He had to admit they came in handy when needing to scare off land dwellers. A flying fish stallion was simply something not many would expect to see.

"Oh..." She didn't think she'd be able to have wings and not use them. Then again that could be because she didn't have them and wanted them but how could you not use wings?
He was a fish though, or something like a fish, and trying to fly underwater would be odd.

"If I could give them to another, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I simply don't need them."
He figured it must be odd to hear such a thing. The mare before him would probably do anything for a chance to soar in the clouds, and here he was willing to give that all up.
"The world is cruel, at times."

"It is...." She hung her head a bit and looked down at her reflection in the moving water. She almost wanted to twitch one of the bones that poked from her back but she knew better. It would hurt if she did.
The world had given her sisters good bodies and one of them strong wings. One of her brothers could fly with the best of them and the other was strong. Her? She was just pathetic. She even had some of her Fathers healing powers but she couldn't even fix herself.
