Anjel, head low, and ears perked, stalked through the darker portions of the forest, foot falls ever silent, as he corssed the damp ground.
His grey-blue eyes looked about, as if expecting something to jump out at him. Oh, he wasn't paranoid, he'd just rather be safe, than sorry. Just the moments notice-- too late-- of an attack could be fatal, and Anjel, the anti-hero, and warrior that he was would not tolerate failure.

He stopped, as cawing crows passed over head, and looked up shaprly, to see in what direction they were flying from. A small growl formed in his throat, as he looked the his west. It was time now, his travels too him off this beaten path, to investigate the disturbance,....

A young female stumbled through the thick brush and fell heavily onto her tender muscles. The sudden movement shook her surroundings and birds took flight from the small clearing. Tehila hissed in irritation at her unluckiness when looking back. A root stuck out of the dirt, taunting her poor strides and her now dirty white pelt.

She had come to a resolution moment ago to set out to find her childhood friend. However, the other thought her as foolish considering she remembered nothing except a red bow. Shaking her head clear of her thoughts, she stood with her leaf-covered hair sticking up untamed on her head. Sighing, she sat down and began easing her rugid appearance.

Twings and brittle bushes snapped as Anjel made his way to the clearing. He could now see the white, and somewhat dirty appearance of Tehila, whom as he cocked his head back, he looked at with something of apprehension.

He was somewhat dissapointed. Part of him had been spoiling for a fight. He was not good at dealing with his own kind, and mentally he grumbled.

"So, it was you?" He finally spoke, voice young, somewhat up a low rumble, with a back-of-the-throat purr.

He stoped his advance just inside the clearing, coming no closer to the other. If not fir the dirt and leaves, he supposed she'd be best described as 'pretty', however, sometimes,...most of the time, the prettiest things were the most deadly. And this one was female, deadlier still!

At the sound of a voice, a low, cool voice, Tehila shot onto her fours shifted her body to face him. It was obvious she was unaccustomed to remaining alert of her surroundings. She was silent for a moment with her head low in an obvious show of her naturally timid and submissive personality. She stared at his dull-colored eyes before satisfying herself with the assumption he wasn't here to initiate trouble.

"Do you always greet strangers so bluntly?" her voice was soft and even, quiet in the sense it couldn't possibly show malice or anger. She didn't seem to have the intention of answering the somewhat retorical question.

"Consider yourself privilaged. I normally dont greet people at all." He said, now taking to walking the circumferance of the clearing. The predatorial air of the ulaya was natural -- everything about him screamed predator, from the calculating gaze, to his very stride.

However, like any being, he was curious, and he finally stopped his circleing, to sit in front of her, once more cocking his head in that arrogant way.
"And what would someone like you be doing here?"

She shrank under the heavy gaze of the stranger like a prey cornered by its pursuer. Perhaps her initial assumption was wrong; something told her he would not normally be considered good company for a peaceful creature like herself. Mentally, she scowled herself for perhaps angering him with her sly comment.

She attempted to keep her weary eyes on his moving figure, tense and ready to retaliate if necessary. "I'm honored, then," she offered a soft reply and a slight dip of the head to his first statement. It could almost be taken as genuine until she shifted her head with a haughty expression that clearly suggested sarcasm.

Tehila couldn't decide whether his question was an insult considering his arrogant stance. "Why wouldn't someone like me be here?"

"Truthfully?" He lifted a brow. "You look more like a pampered little princess, rather then some backwoods adventurer." he huffed, unimpressively.

Her sarcasm didn't affect him in the slightest. If anything, it made things more interesting. Here he was begining to get worried he really had run into some lost little princess.

"Now," He continued, "answer my question." He was arrogant in his demands, but as was said, he was not one for social skills. Detached from his own kind, he stayed alone for so long, it was remarkable that he still nore any kind of 'civility', if that's what you could call his lack of all out savage actions.

She let a soft glare cross her features, denying him any dramatic fit. The nerve of the male! Tehila was furious although she knew his worlds held a level of truth deep in her heart. But that was deep, deep in her heart. For now, she was intent on denying his words to the point of doing something rather uncharacteristic: challenging him.

Obviously, it would not be, in any way, a smart decision; however, years of producing a sweet disposition had been eating away her patience and here, in the freedom of the woods, she did not see why she would abide by her formal social rules.

"I don't see why it would be you're business," she huffed as though putting him down some and proceeded to pass him and move on.

He groweled as she strode past.
"Certainly you have family who will have a fit if you were to wind up dead." Anjel's words were sharp, as he turned to watch her - not keeping the combatant female out of his sights.

he lowered his voice darkly.
"I know what beasts roam this forest. They'd make a nice little meal out of something like you,..." and probably him too, if he didn't know how to avoid them, but he highly doubted this high-society girl would know the slightest thing about real monsters.
Heh, she probably though he was one!

He head lowered as his words stung at her tender form reminding her of all the warnings she had received once everyone had caught wind of her intentions. As he spoke and his whole appearance seemed to darkened, her legs began to back until her white fur was pressed against the rough wood of a tree trunk. She lend heavily against the hard object as though her life depended on the tree for balance.

She shook her head before looking at him. "You don't understand," she spoke quietly; "he's out there. He's out there because of me and I have to find him." She then glared at him, "You don't understand because you have no one." It was so rude and so unlike her. It was as though she was intentionally trying to draw out his anger.

Anjel gave her a cold hard glare, before he closed those storm-gray eyes, and gave an almost amused 'heh'.
"If only you knew,." He gave her a smirk of sorts, as he started through the direction she had been about to go.

"If he means that much to you, dear princess,..that you would snap at me then you either truely wish to find him,..or are more stupid then you look."
It was a little harsh of him, but so had been her words. But things like that, he kept well hidden inside. To show pain was weakness - weakness that one culd not afford in these parts of the woods.

"Follow me." He glanced over his shoulder at her. "I will escort you on this,...quest." He sighed deeply, and looked ahead. "I will not have your blood spilled on my ground.

Tehila stared at him quietly as though trying to undertand his words but, at the same time, failing to. A strong curiosity emersed her mind as she suddenly realized how little she knew of the other party. He was mysterious in the way she knew little of his background which was new to her.

Her anger seemed to disperse as he continued. His words caused Tehila to begin questioning her motives. Did she really care for her friend, or was it fueled from years of guilt? Was it worth it? Those were answers she couldn't find the answer for, and that troubled her.

What he did next was shocked her beyond words. Escort? He was already walking away and she snapped out of her shock to run after him. "Hold on, there, mister! I don't even know your name and what do you mean your grounds?"

"This part of the woods,...is my home." He said, as he took slow steps, waiting for her to catch up. "I am known as Anjel. And you are?"

Name were not usually something Anjel delt too closely with. He never needed to. However, if the girl wanted to know his, he might aswell know hers, aswell.

He stepped confidently through the brush and undergrowth, leeping a sensitive ear out for other noises, and a close eye on his companion. he was un-used to looking out for anyone but himself. Still, if he was to escort her, and keep her alive, it would not do to not look out for her.

"I'm Tehila," the name was a good place to start. She followed him closely as though trying to embrace the warm from his body and shelter herself from the cold of the forest both physically and metaphorically. She shifted uncomfortably for a second as though debated something before speaking, "Do you live here alone?"

She shifted hesitantly through the necessary bushes and seemingly random obstacles that keep popping up in her way.

He didn't answer immediately, but soon answered with a 'yes'.

Some might think it a lonely existance - for him, it was rather peaceful. dealing with others was just so taxing. Not to mention you only had one mouth to feed, one person to look out for, and no annoying jibber-jabber from thers.

This dark, damp place,...was his paradise. Lonely, desolate, paradise.
