"It's so pretty!" Missy said as she led Chris into the park that snowy Saturday evening. "Isn't it pretty? See all the Christmas lights on the trees?"
Christian looked up at the lights in awe, one hand tucked in his mom's, the other knuckled up and on the ground supporting his weight. It was pretty, he agreed silently with a nod. Almost pretty enough to ignore the fact that he was FREEZING.
"Do you want to watch the ice skaters?" she asked him. "They're just over that hill right there!"

"I love the park!" Jamie breathed as the held his arms out, watching it appear in a warm mist in the air before him. His momma had dressed him warmly, with a down filled coat, wool gloves, and a hat jammed over his unruley hair. Only his face felt the n** of the cold and that wasn't so bad.
"You like everything," replied his sister in a drawl. Alisa too wore a coat, but had swapped the hat for a scarf instead. She held a loaf of bread in one hand, for the birds. She might not share her brother's unbridled love of things, but she did like the park if only to see the birds there.
"Stay within earshot," Becca told the young boy, putting a hand briefly on his head before drifting over to sit upon a park bench a ways away. It was slightly removed from the other park goers and would give her a bit of peace. Alisa too left him, moving near a bush where she began to spread bread crumbs and watch as sparrows came to feed.
Jamie, holding his gloved hands before him, looked around with wide blue eyes as if to decide what to do. Then he ran off in a seeminly random direction, arms trailing out behind him. What interesting people were here? He wanted to meet them!

They had made it to the top of the hill and were sitting on a bench there, watching the skaters on the small pond below them. "See?" Missy asked as she pointed at them. "They're skating. It looks fun, don't you think?"
"Nuh uh," Chris said, making a face. Skating wouldn't work for him at all, not with how he moved around.
"Christian!" Missy said, sounding amused despite herself.
"Looks cold."

Jamie ran past the lake before he realized that it was actually really cool to look at. So he was still running forward as he twisted his head to look back. His foot snagged on something and he watched the lake jump out of view as he tumbled to the ground, "ooof!" Recovering like any mobile toddler he pushed himself up on his palms and lifted his head only to come face to face with a lady and...well, someone really funny looking! He blinked his eyes, mouth hanging open a little and forgot to get back up.

Chris stared right back at the other boy, blinking twice before looking at his mom. "Baby," he said in that duel toned voice of his, pointing to the boy.
"Hello, sweetie, are you lost?" Missy asked.

Jamie shook his head and finally stood up with a bit of a wobble. His mouth shut and he pointed at Chris. Instead of saying "you're freaky" or "you're ugly" the little boy chimed, "You're BIG, Mr.!" His eyes then slid shut for a brief moment as he smiled widely. It was neat! He had seen lots of people in Momma's cafe', but never anyone like this!

Chris grinned right back at him, showing off his tiny fangs. "Christian," he said, shoving one huge thumb at his chest. "You?"
Missy sighed, trying not to laugh. Whoever his guardian was, no doubt he or she would show up sooner or later.

"HI Mr. Cwistan!" Jamie chimed, doing his best to pronouce the giant boy's name. He had just begun to talk "fluidly", but some of his words still had a babyish flavor to them. "I'm Jamie!" she replied with a sweet smile, lifting his two gloved hands to put upon his chest.

Mister? Christian blinked. "Who's mister?" he asked blankly when nothing came to mind.
"Christian's just a little boy, Jamie," Missy said. "Not a mister."
"Big boy," Christian corrected.

"Oohhhh," Jamie gasped, his mouth reflecting the shape of his verbal revalation. He stared at Christian again for a moment with wide blue eyes before saying, still looking rather awe-struck, "You're M'azing!" Aparently the little boy had only used the word used on those m&m bar commercials. Christian needed to be on one of those...he certainly was amazing!

"Aw, stop," Chris said. "I normal... sortta." He climbed down from the bench. He was a lot bigger than the other little boy, even on all fours. "Play?"

"Pway what?" Jamie asked curiously, finding it a bit easier to look at Chris properly now that he was down lower. Up on the bench it had been like looking at a grown up! His expression seemed eager; he was always up for some games. He especially liked playing with someone new. It was always lots of fun.

"Hmmm..." Chris said, looking around. Then he grinned. "Tag! You it!" he said before racing away on all fours. It would have been impressive if he didn't slip in the snow and fall on his face. He sat up, wiping the snow off. "Is sipply," he said with a nod before getting up again.

It took a moment for him to realize they had started a game. Once he did, however, he ran off after the other child only to skid to a wobbly stop when Chris fell. "Careful!" Jamie suggested, eyeing the ground with a sudden realization. He took two slow steps first and, finding it was ok for the most part, he started running again, "I'm go'n to get you!" Not that he was sure he could catch the bigger kid at all.

Chris turned, grinning widely at him from where he now perched on top of a small statue. "You gotta catch me first!" he called back, hanging practically upside down.
