(This is based loosely on the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik)
The year is 1999, but history is not what you’d expect; for you see, there is one difference between this world and ours: Dragons are real. History itself has been changed; sure Iraq is still a shitstorm, but it’s a shitstorm that has access to the fire-breathing Kalizak dragon; China is still an Empire (Not communist!) and Japan is still a shogunate. Cities have fundamentally changed to accommodate our draconic friends, streets are wider, draconic ‘apartments’ have been built, there was even a civil rights movement for dragons (around the same time as the black civil rights movement, though law makers are sure to give a dragon his rights when he begins to sit on top on your house), and last but not least a new (to us) branch of the military, the Aerial Corps. But enough history lessons for you reality impaired kids. How old are you? 15? Well then, let’s get you to the Ministry of Draconic Affairs, I think there’s a Lindorm about to hatch, and you look like just the kid to handle such a big dragon…

Name: Wendigo
Weight-Class: Light-Combat
Length: 25ft
Abilities: Ice Breath
Area: Canada, Northern US
Info: The Wendigo breed is a relative of the Japanese Sui-Riu, it can swallow vast amounts of water and expel the stored water; only that in the cold mountains the Wendigo calls home, the water comes out as ice. The Wendigo breed are extremely violent, hence their name meaning “Cannibal Wind”. Coloration ranges from pale-blue, to deep violet.
Name: Samedi
Weight-Class: Heavy-Combat/Transport
Length: 115ft
Abilities: None
Area: Southern US swampland/Caribbean.
Info: The Samedi breed is the most famous ‘Dixie Drake’ of the Civil War, being the only heavy-weight dragon in the eastern US (The South still lost). Noted for it’s lazy, care-free, and sneaky (for a dragon of its size) personality, Samedi are far more prone to the arts than to war, despite its fearsome demonic horns horns. Coloration is a deep green with brown stripes running along its sides. The Breed is named for the Voodoo god Baron Samedi or Baron Sunday.

Area: Most of the US
Info: The Common Blue is, by name alone, the most common breed in the US. The personality of the Common Blue is a varied a human’s personality. Some are lazy; some are clever; the typical job of a Common Blue and its rider is postal service, as they cannot carry more than one person and some packages without falling from the sky. Coloration is Blue with black streaks.
Name: Diablo Rojo
Weight-Class: Middle-Combat/Transport
Length: 60ft
Abilities: Poison Spitting, Night Vision, Water Storage
Area: South Western US/ Mexico
Info: The Diablo Rojo is a distant cousin to the Wendigo. Widely known as a vicious man-eater, the Diablo Rojo (Red Devil) is one of the fiercest fighters in the deserts of the US. It has been know to drink entire lakes and store the water for later use. One of the three nocturnal US breeds (The others being the Kangee and the Dark Horse), the Diablo Rojo can also spit poison. Coloration is similar to red sandstone, the eyes are completely black, and upon the head is a frill of spikes.
Name: Kangee
Weight-Class: Heavy Combat/Transport
Length: 110ft
Abilities: Night Vision, Chameleon Skin
Area: North Western US
Info: The Kangee breed is named famous ‘man-eating-village’ of Indian myth. As the story goes; a village was so plagued with evil that the very houses began to eat their occupants, leaving an empty town. This story can be attributed to an especially large Kangee. With the ability to blend in with their surroundings and see in darkness, the Kangee make very powerful hunters. Coloration is the same as surrounding area, there is a row of spikes running down the Kangee’s back.
Name: Dark Horse
Weight-Class: Courier
Length: 10ft
Abilities: Night Vision, Fire-breather
Area: New England
Info: The Dark Horse breed is the only fire-breather in the US and one of the rarest. When the British landed in America hoping for a fire-breathing breed they found nothing, neither hide nor talon of the Dark Horse breed. Discovered after the Revolutionary War in a small Dutch settlement the dragon had seemingly tied a headless corpse to its back and chased several residents, including a pedagogue named Ichabod Crane.
South America:
Most of South America is still peaceful, natural rainforest and mountains, mostly due to the huge number of feral dragons within its borders. Did we mention that the Incan Empire is still around? Yeah, that might be important. South American aviators also have access to several Spanish breeds.
We don't have any South American dragons available right now.
