The light faded...

We had foretold its coming. Twenty-two years ago, the demon Morrikas began this dark war, following in his father's, Del-Firion, the Demon King, footsteps. Unsuprisingly, at least to us, the world was caught completely by suprise, despite our warnings.

Fortunately, or now, it seems, unfortunately, the western city-state of Othes managed to develop a weapon capable of defeating our enemy. I am sorry to say that it was our fault it was unleashed upon the world, but we didn't want to see what had happened before happen again. Though now, I see, what we have done is much worse. Our foolishness has brought about the end of time more surely than Del-Firion or Morrikas ever could. We had the ability to stop them.

But we cannot stop this.

Our weapon, known now as the Corrupter, was capable of ripping the very souls from the living. Without the soul, the mind would collapse in upon itself in most cases, causing the mortal shell to die. It was to be controlled by one of our greatest and wisest, a good man by the name of Tarek Lorkaon. What happened, we could never have forseen.

He turned on us... We were all devestated. How could one such as he turn to the side of the demons?

He hadn't. What he had done, however, was much worse.

It was only later that we discovered the depths of our folly. The demons had never existed! It was all just a ruse! A trick! A deception! Tarek made fools of us all!

Many of our young men and women flocked to join him. Why not? He offered them power, a chance to escape the oncoming destruction. They march now upon our cities, not burning, oh no, they are wiser than that. They capture them, force the citizens to do their bidding. Rumors even tell that Lorkaon discovered a way to rip the souls from the living, while still leaving the body intact. Obedient, skillful, unafraid of death, because they have already died... The perfect soldier, I suppose, though truly an affront to our God.

We have only one chance left... Assemble what is left, my friend. You and your crusaders are our only hope left...

Humans
The dominant race in Inner Darkness: The Lost Souls. Though their life spans aren't long, and they aren't all that physically imposing, they make up for it with skills and ingenuity far beyond the comprehension of most of the other races. Their adaptability allows them to survive in the all but the most desolate of places.
Class choices: Priest, Soldier, Scholar (wise men), Gunner, Mage, Rider


Demons
Though considered by many to be evil, they are mostly just misunderstood. Well, I suppose a lot of them are evil, but you find some good ones! Anyway, this race is very powerful in the magic arts.
Class choices: Mage, Soldier

Dragons
A race said to be more ancient than the mountains on which many make their homes, they are extremely intelligent. Some are able to take on the forms of humans for short periods of time. And by short, I mean short for them. About 10 years. And they can breath fire, ice, or lightning, or any number of things, depending on their color (colors are the same as in Dragonlance.)

Elders
Very similar to humans, except for a longer life spall and their taller, slimmer build. Don't let their looks fool you, these guys are masters of martial arts and quite proficent with blades. However, they are extremely rigid in their ways, making them less adaptable than humans.

Bio: Arec was born in the city-state of Inia in the north, near the time the war began. Like most young men at the time who didn't join Lorkaon, he joined up with the Crusaders as soon as he was able, around age 13.

He was, at one point, approached by an agent of the Crusaders' enemy, who asked him to join. Though tempted to join Lorkaon's growing ranks, he believed deeply in the cause of the crusaders, and refused. At this point, the agent had drawn his blade and attacked Arec, who managed to slay the agent.

His older brother, he knew, had joined Lorkaon early on, which was why Arec was tempted to join. But, knowing as he did the evil of his enemy, he had refused and killed one of Lorkaon's best agents. Since then, he has been the target of several assassination attempts, though not nearly as many as the upper ranks of the Crusaders.

He has survived them all, and each one has made him be that much more resolved to help the Crusaders in their works.

And if he ever faces his brother, he knows what he must do...
Prefered Abilities: Fast and extremely intelligent. He knows a small amount of magic, and can use it to create barriers.

Appearance: tall raven black hair. golden eyes His black bird's wings a skatered with the odd white feather. he is tall and wheres a black traveling cloak. can srink his wigs so their feathery patches on his shoulders.
Bio:Was a upper class demon. He detested the general darkness to his race and left the place of his raising. He beleives that all the parties in a war are evil, and so has decided to fight both sides of the demon-human conflict. In his mind the Humans are evil for creating the Corruptor and so are the demons. But curently he has made truse with the humans in order to remove the weapon he deems the evil of all evil.
