Well, in creation, you know how there's the tree with the fruit etc. OK, so it's the snake that temps Eve into eating the fruit, but it's God who puts the fruit there in the first place. If it was God who created temptation in the first place, well...how does that make sense?

He gave us a choice to disobey him or not. If he hadn't, and we had to worship God, then our love for him wouldn't mean very much.

You have a point Trix.

But I agree with GuardianAngel44. God gave us a choice between good and evil. He didn't say you have to live this way or that. Christains choose to believe what they believe and do what they do. And Adam and Eve gave into the temptations and ate fruit from that tree.

And sometimes temptations are a test. To see what you'd do, you know?

The thing about the original sin is that it shows Satan's nature and reason for being. Read about Job and you'll find out Satan loves to challenge God, saying "I bet if you let me do this to so-and-so, he/she will do this", and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

All of Satan's doings are there to test our love of God and faithfulness to Him. The reward comes in proving Satan wrong. There's no reward from God for disappointing Him.

I know that....and that has what to do with my question? Satan didn't put the tree there.

Guardian and Emotional - But...they could have left God if they wanted to by walking out of the garden. Giving us free will I get, but putting something their to tempt us away seems weird. I sorta get the test thing...but...well....either there was nothing wrong with the tree and it was just a test, but that seems kinda silly, or the tree was evil, in which case how could it come from God?

The tree wasn't evil. It gave knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve only knew good, and the tree let them see the other side as well. In this way sin was released into the world. I don't get what's so hard to understand. It was a test. Adam and Eve failed. It might not make sense to you, but he's God, and we don't understand Him.

It doesn't really mean very much now, does it?

It saddens me that you think God is like that. It's more like this:

"You screwed up the first time. Because I love you, I will give you a second chance."
"Thank you, God."

First of all, before Adam was even created, the Garden was already there and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was already there. Neither the garden nor the tree were evil themselves. God created Adam from the earth and he was good. Eve was not created from the earth but was created from part of Adam. Still, she was good because she had been made from something good. They were good because they pleased God and did what He asked of them.

To correct you about the snake, the Bible says it was a serpent. The only time it could be called a snake is when God orders that it should crawl around on its belly and eat dust. A more accurate idea of it before then would probably be some kind of legged reptile like a lizard (if Revelation is anything to go by, it's a dragon of some kind). It's not clear whether the serpent was acting of its own accord as one of the garden's animals, whether Satan was intruding ito the garden taking the form of a garden animal or whether it was Satan possession of a garden animal. Whatever the serpent was, its intentions were to make Adam and Eve aware of opposing God and the only way for them to believe that is to show it to them, which is why he tempted them to eat the fruit.

The truth is, they didn't want to leave the garden even though they had free will. Because they were created good, they enjoyed being with God and serving their purpose. It pleased God to have created something so perfect. I highly doubt God would use the serpent or the tree as an excuse to chuck his most beloved creation out of the garden.

Actually, the destruction of earth was a guaranteed inevitability from the moment God cursed it, and He cursed it from the moment Adam and Eve disobeyed.

If you don't believe the human soul is everlasting, there's little point in trying to get you to make sense of the fact that God wants to make a huge bonfire out of the spoiled creation and start afresh. The only reason He hasn't done so is because He's pushing back the time out of hope for humanity.

You're right. I'm being subjective.

Objectively:

So you think I'm "spoiled creation"?

You know, it may be that mindset that makes it impossible for us to see each other eye-to-eye. How do you "love" "spoiled creation"?
