Island of Moreau Vice Captain

Authorized Personnel OnlyThe laboratories on the Island are an immense, sprawling complex outfitted with the most advanced technologies. Their exteriors are protected with a large fence, and beyond that, heavy, thick steel walls and doors protected by advanced security systems requiring voice and DNA-recognition for admittence. Inside, the hallways seem to virtually be some sort of sterile, white maze of corridors and nearly identical-looking doors labeled only with ambiguous numbers. To acute noses, any helpful scents are covered by pungent astringents and industrial-strength chemical cleaners.

The Dude's ears perked up about the words of Cassidy and study and how some things didn't seem to add up here. But he decided to post pone uncomfortable questions for later, after his stay on the island was an established thing. Like a lamb to the slaughter, he followed her tamely into the lobby and asked very casually:
"So hey, Aubrey, you guys will not mind that my boat will ... erm ... park here for a while? Ya know ... it might take a bit to repair it and all. Like, I am not gonna make any trouble."

"Of course you won't Mr. Carroll was it?" the Red Haired man walked more into the light. He wore a labcoat and a turtle neck sweater underneith.
He smiled a sly smile "I have no problem holding your boat here for a while." he paused. "Which is fortunete, we don't have a mechanic all the way out here."
"You may, be here for a while... I hope that is okay?"

Dear doctor spooked the Dude, when he emerged oh so quietly from behind one of the cryptic doors. He jerked around and stared at the Big Boss. Hrm ... well, the boss man for the Island didn't seem that big. With his hands still in his pockets, Sean gave the man a side long look. The ******** he meant with "of course you won't"? That he didn't think the Dude capable of trouble? How'd he know?
"No, just Dude. Nice to meet you, Dr. Moreau. And thanks, man." - he looked at this doctor curiously. This name ... it was ringing some kind of bell in the Dude's head, but he was not quite sure what was that all about yet.
"And yeah. 's not like I have much choice. I'll work on fixin' the boat and if you don't mind I'd like to use your radio sometime to, ya know, maybe get somebody to get me from this island. Also, say, that helicopter that I saw over the island - if possible, could I, like, catch a lift sometimes? Ya know, to get parts and all. From the main land."

"Unfortunetly Mr. Carroll we do not have Radio Transmissions here. My Helicopter pilot, James handles all communications with the mainland."
Moreau walked to an elevator which opened itself, "come this way Mr. Carroll, we'll get you your immunization shots and set you up with a place to stay. Aubrey, stay here and get an apartment set up for Mr. Carroll here."
Moreau beckoned the young man into the elevator.

"James, huh. Well, I'll look him up."
Hrm. But Aubrey had told him that Dr. Moreau HAD a radio. And a lab this huge and this fancy without a radio? OR a cell phone? Right ... Unsettled by the various lies that they kept feeding him, Sean trotted after the doctor into the elevator.

The elevator opened and after Moreau and Sean stepped in the door closed. "Floor 8" Moreau said.
The elevator began to rise, "So Mr. Carroll, what brings you all the way out here? I mean before you boat wrecked."

"Eh? Well, I came to the Keys 'bout 5 years ago from Montrey Bay. You know, by Frisco, with the whales and the sea lions? Yeah. My uncle left me the boat in his will. Where are you from?" - the Dude asked back.

"I spent my college at Harvard before comming here..." Moreau said as the elevator door opened.
The door opened to a large lab with state of the art equipment, the far side had a large lab table with a paper cover over it.
"Please go sit over there while I get the innoculation... roll up your sleeve as well." he motioned towards the table.

"Harvard ... wow, far out! Never met a man who went to Harvard - you are the first."
He perched on a chair and rolled up the sleeve of his t-shirt.
"Oh yeah, against whatchamacallit ... Drag Fever." - the Dude nodded, watching the doctor carefully, smiling. "Thank you for taking such good care of our health, doctor. Must cost a fortune to have to innoculate people like that."

"It is no problem Mr. Carroll, you can stay here as long as you like, room and board free." Moreau smiled as he picked out a vial to insert into the needle.
Moreau inserted the needle into the Dude's arm. "Sea Lions you say? I've never studied them too much myself." he pulled the needle out.
"Well," Moreau patted the Dude on his back. "Your good to go, you should already be set up in a room and such. I'll show you out."

"Dude. Not Mr. Carroll. Just Dude."
He rolled down his sleeve, having not even flinched from the stab of the needle. Whatever the dear doctor injected into him, it was done now. Hopefully it wasn't something too experimental.
"Oh, sea lions are wicked cool. They are smart and friendly dudes. Like dogs. They even bark like dogs. And they are the best fishermen I've ever seen." - the Dude smiled.
"When you go to Frisco sometime, you should look up Pier 39 - they totally took it over, bastards." - he added, proudly. "Kicked all the filthy rich yachts out. It's just them and the cormorans now over there."

Moreau lead the Dude into the elevator "Ground Floor" he said as it started to descend. He pulled out a cell phone like communication device. "Aubrey... what building is he in? Ahhhh excellent."
Moreau turned back to the Dude "You'll be in duplex 12. You can find food in the main building in the middle as well as other essential supplies."
The elevator door opened as he lead him out.

The Dude walked back into the sunlight and looked up. The sun had dropped behind the tree tops by now so it must have been at least aroun 6 pm by this point. Captain Morgan would be furious by the time he'd get back.
Deciding to postpone visiting the "apartment number 12" or whatever they assigned for him to sleep in, he instead beelined for the cafeteria, raided it for some edibles and, laden with treats, walked down the winding jungle road to the beach. His boat was still stuck on the sand bank, with Captian Morgan pacing back and force on the roof of the shanty.
Taking Cassidy's towel off his neck, the Dude folded the food stuffs into it and tied it like a turban to his head, then waded into the water and swam into the sunset to feed the cat, roll a joint and muse to himself about all the occurances of the past day.
((is this okey or should I stick around for smth else? The Dude's gonna trot into town tomorrow to return the towel back to Cassidy.))
