Okay, today wasn't a good day.
Nothing extremely bad had happened, really. But for some reason, Avani felt so.. lonely. Glancing back on her life, really, thats how it'd always been. She hadn't had a traumatizing past, no. She was born, grew up a bit, and moved on. She'd seen a fair bit, wandering around 'the world', and really, it had been kind of nice. But she'd never had any real friend. The passing friend, yes. But never someone to spend time with, she was alone in the world.
How nice, huh?
With a huff, the lioness plopped down onto the grass, stretching out in the late afternoon sun. It was going to rain soon on these plains, she'd seen the clouds. But she had also found a spot where a bit of sun had escaped, and would gladly enjoy the last ray's of the day.

(( continued on AIM due to lag ))
Gharadi was tired today, and lounging on the edge of the swampland borders in the sun, stretching in the sun, he smiled to himself, eyes closed, feeling the heat warm his spotted pelt. It was nice, to get away, to let the cubs explore on their own. He was a father, but not by blood, but by care. He loved his..well...technically his bu not by blood family so. Flicking his tail he rolled onto his stomach, shook his head, orange tan mane falling into his view, someone wasn't that far away. A pride member? All the way out here? Rather strange, but perhaps he could meet another face, make another friend. Gharadi wished for more company, time to spend with someone else besides the youngsters. Perhaps they...she, could be the one? (Noticing her upon closer inspection, and squinting). Standing and padding over to her at a slow pace, as to not seem threatening, he wore a smile on his maw.
"Hello," he called out calmly, stopping mere feet from her, her pelt was sandy, nothing like the dark soil of the swamps, it was different, and as such, lovely. "How're you this fine afternoon?"

Well, it was perhaps not an answer Gharadi would expect, but hey, she'd had her eyes closed, so it was fair enough. "AAH. " She blinked, leaping up a couple of feet in surprise, eyes wide, before realizing it'd just been a lion. "Oh, phew-- you surprised me. " At least she was honest enough about that.
Waaait.. had she trespassed again? "Oh! I'm sorry-- I do this ALL the time! I didn't mean to get on pride territory again, I.. " she blinked, pausing. He hadn't really mentioned pride territory. Damn it, Avani, get a little less jumpy! "Sorry-- I'm good. " She offered a small uneasy smiled, slightly embarrassed by her little.. freak-out.

Gharadi took a step back, eyes growing wide at her reaction and he nearly crouched down, but he hesitated, stayed where he was. He laughed softly at her, but not in a mocking manner, "Do forgive me for startling you, I didn't know that you might be napping!" he said raising a paw to scratch hte back of his head in a helpless manner. Tilting his head at her, he peered at her, then peered behind him, "No, no, its alright, I'm on hte borders, outside of them slightly of my pride, and don't worry, we aren't harmful at all, so no worries Miss..." and then he stopped, stood, and bowed his head to her in respect, how come he had forgotten to intriduce himself?! "I'm Gharadi'Nafsi, may I ask for your name?"

Well, that was good to hear. With a relieved sigh, she sat down again, though slowly growing aware that her shaft of light had vanished. Damn you, clouds. Revenge will be sweet! "Thats good to hear, once I wandered onto those firekin-- ugh. " It'd been quite a while ago, and while she hadn't been attacked, she had seen the lion make a mean face at her from the distance. Turntail, fast!
"I'm Avani, nice to meet you! "

Gharadi smiled, held his head high again, and listened to her intently. The firekin? He shuddered slightly, he had been there once, it was...quite strange, even the females there were angry, mean beings. "Avani, a very nice name, does it mean anything?" he watched her, wondered why she would be wandering all by herself. For a oment, someone could mistake her for being from hte pridelands, but she was more sandy colored than rich gold. Stunning, none hte less. "If you don't mind my asking Avani, what are you doinga ll the way ou here alone? Searching for someone?" that had been one of hte more common things rogues stated, always searching, for family, or something they would rather not say.

"My mother said it means earth. " she nodded, smiling at the male and curling her tail around her paws. This Gharadi guy was turning out pretty nice, huh?
"Looking for someone? " She blinked, tilting her head slightly. Did she look like she had anyone to look for? "No, I'm just travelling. I don't have anywhere to go, really. " Shesaid, then blinked in surprise as something went on her nose-- and splat. Soon she felt a few more along her body, and then finally, a bunch. When it rained in africa, it poured. And it went fast, too.
"Well, that was fast. " She said, folding her ears back as her fur began to soak.

Gharadi srunched up his nose when he felt something too on his nose, wriggled it, and another. Soon enough, rain droplets were falling everywhere, and it really wasn't surprising to hi at all consiering this was the swamp territory afterall. Meant more mud for hte cubs tog et into, more mud he would have to help clean off of them, he smiled at that thought though, it was well worth it when you had some kind of family. "I traveled before, its nice, but coming back home here was nice too," talking in the rain. What next Gharadi, Mr. master of charm...sort of. "Want to take a walk with me? We'll be able to get out of hte rain for a while, unless you like the rain," either or didn't matter much to him. At least he was meeting someone new, making friends, and meeting a fine lioness, she was so nice and intriguing, different. Today seemed to be turning out quite well.

She smiled, shaking her head and getting semi dry. It was useless, and she'd be soaked soon enough, but it was also instinct, and thus, she was inclined to do it now that she was wet. "I guess it is! But I don't have any home to go to. " She nodded, and stood at his offer for a walk. "Sure! And we can go in the rain, I'm fine with either! I think its nice to enjoy when it rains-- its too hot! " She nodded, standing up. "You live in there? " She asked, motioning to the swamp. It must be soo muddy.

She didn't have a home? That wasn't...good. His ears fell back just slightly so so that it wasn't very noticeable, Gharadi wasn't sure what he'd do if he didn't have a home, where would he go? Probably do what Avani did, travel, always travel. Gharadi stood, took a few steps, waited for her, and started walking knowing that she was closeby and that he wasn't walking too, too fast. "Yea, its quite nice," he said with a smile, peering towards hte swamps a bit more. Yes, even despite hte muddy soil, it was quite nice. "Others may not think it to be quite so nice comapred to ther places, but its just as nice and has many mebers who are friendly cubs running around.. True, there is mud, however its not as dirty as others may think...if that mkes sense," he said with a chuckle. As if he made any sense...right.

Gharadi was fortunate that she hadn't seen his ears fall, or she'd probably have said something. See, Avani wasn't an idiot, and she did know how things worked, pretty well. But she didn't like acting like a stuck-up know-it-all... It just wasn't fun.
"I'm fine with mud, so long as theres -some- dry land after! " She smiled, she would hate to live in eternal mud, that'd just be terribly uncomfortable. But living in the swamp didn't really mean you couldn't go outside and flop on the dirt a bit, right? So it wasn't so bad.

"Of course there's dry land, its not always rainy or muddy everywhere and mud is soil afterall, so in a lot of places it gets dry where the water can't reach, its not like you have to swim in mud to get from place to place," he said with a smile. Flicking his tail as he waked with her. Her spirit seemed so lively and strong, so to Gharadi, it made no sense that she was alone traveling, or perhaps she preferred it that way? Hmm. "You'd probably have a lot of fun here, the cubs are so curious, I'm the father of six of them..." that came out wrong, "what I mean is, I care for six cubs, they are my friends children, and I'm watching them for her as she had to go on a journey to take care of some things...I'm like a father figure to them, they are curious. I bet they would love to meet you," he said with a smile, hoping his explanation came out right. he hoped it did.

"Then I should go in sometime, sounds nice! " she nodded, then remembered the ran. "When its not raining. I'm wet enough for now. " She smiled lightly, then blinked. He was a father? He didn't look like one-- oooh. "Thats nice of you, to help her raise her kids. " She nodded. Avani liked cubs, they were usually so nice and innocent! "Thats not a bad idea! I love cubs. "

"Well then," Gharadi said with a smile, walking with her heading towards hte outer underbrush of hte swamps for cover from hte falling rain, "You must come and meet them then, and walk around a bit, I'm sure you'll ike it, and I know of a certain female cub that would probably love to give you a tour," he said with a chuckle, stopping under the canopy of branches that hung overhead at the edge of the pride borders. "Will be nice to see you again, when you come to visit, I can show you around too of course Avani<" he said with a sincere smile.

"Oh? I'd love a tour! It'll be nice to know where to step, and where not to. " She smiled, flicking her tail then shaking out her fur, to at least settle in the trier canopy semi-dry. "Sorry, " She said, just in case she'd wet Gharadi, then settled down on the ground, watching the rain pour.
"Yeah! I'll probably be on my way when the rain ends-- but I'll be back soon. " She nodded, or at least she would now that she'd said that. She was sure to keep promises.
