The screen towering above the stadium began to rotate clockwise, building anticipation with each full rotation. The determining of the stadium was always a bit of an excitement-and-dread anticipation rolled up in a trainer's stomach, but finally, after only a minute or so, it began to slow...
The rotation finally stopped, and it was revealed that this stadium would be the:
FIRE FIELD!
A series of thick rock pillars, all different sizes of height, reach towards the stadium ceiling from a pool of hot lava. While there is a fire-proof net far below to catch any pokemon that falls off the platforms, the rock pillars themselves are very hot to touch. They can cause burns if your pokemon stand still for a set period of time. The air around the field is very heavy from the extreme heat.

Amelia stepped into the stadium, noticing almost immediately just how hot it really was in there. She wiped at her forehead, pulling her beret off her head and freeing her hair from it's confines. "The fire field, huh." She grinned a little. "Fitting." Amelia reached down to the belt under her terry-cloth top, and procured the only Pokeball on it that actually contained a Pokemon.
"Well, Reno, are you ready?" She asked the Pokeball, rolling it along her fingers. She tossed it up, and the young Vulpix appeared from the confines of the Pokeball, looking around to observe her surroundings.
When Reno spotted Amelia, the familiar human trainer, she bolted right over and stopped in front of her, blinking expectantly. Amelia grinned, and crouched down, rubbing one of her ears gently. "For luck." Amelia said, rising after a minute.
"Let's make this first battle a good one, huh?"
Reno nodded, and turned, tails all twitching simultaneously in anxious expectance.

"Hey there~!" Luna shouted from above on her pidgeot, Prince. She gave a meek wave while doing her best to cling onto her pokemon who was also doing his best to hover in the air while holding up his 70-pound trainer. Luna grinned at the trainer below her.
"I hope you don't mind I'm up here...it's' a lot cooler...and there's a better view~But anyways, let's get this battle started, shall we?" The trainer enlarged the pokeball she held in her hand. She allowed it to burst open in her hand, letting down a red beam of light to the battlefield.
The beam gradually formed into the shape of a ninetales. Eventually, Nine fully formed and landed gracefully on a pillar. She stared at her opponent with her glowing red eyes. The heat on the ground was lovely. Using her flash fire ability to it's fullest, she started to absorb the heat to power up her attack. "Get ready young one." She said to the vulpix in a low growl.
"Oh yah~I'm Luna. Future elite four member and champion. And this is Nine~Let's have a good batlte!" The oddball trainer added merrily.

Amelia had heard Luna before she actually saw her, but when she did... "Woah." She blinked up at the trainer, and then grinned wide. "Nah, I don't mind!" She said, grinning. "I'm Amelia! Don't really have a title though." Amelia grinned, and looked out at Reno.
Reno eyed Nine once she'd fully formed, and inclined her head to her respectfully. "I'm ready." She replied in a quiet voice, blue eyes gleaming mischievously. "I was born ready." Yes, that was a lame line. But Reno didn't care, it was still a good one. She trotted out onto the field, bracing herself for the start of the battle.
Amelia smiled. "Here's to a good battle!" She agreed, watching the Ninetails with a glimmer of envy. She was so pretty, Luna was a lucky trainer indeed.

Luna closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself. "Okay Nine! Let's start this off with extrasensory!" Luna shouted below, snapping her eyes open. 'And it starts!' she thought to herself.
Nine nodded, her eyes started glowing for a moment and her tails flickered wildly. The area around Reno started to become distorted. If the vulpix didn't move away fast, the poor pokemon would be caught up in the distortion. Nine's figure grew larger and more intimidating. A sideaffect of the attack.

Amelia watched the Pokemon attack, and bit the bottom of her lip nervously. "Reno, get outta there!" She yelled, waving her arm frantically to get the Pokemon's attention.
Reno didn't need to be told twice. She tried to bolt out of the direct line of the attack, to no avail. She was hit, and everything looked wonky. She froze, blue eyes wide, and tried to make sense of all the distortion around her. It was crazy.
Amelia grimaced. "Reno, snap out of it!" She yelled, watching her Pokemon carefully. Reno shook her head, and growled a little at the ninetails, crouching down as if to lunge. "Reno, quick attack!"
Reno obeyed without hesitation, running straight for Nine. Sure, the ninetails was bigger now and definitely more intimidating. But Reno wasn't about to let that stop her!

Luna almost broke out laughing when she saw the other trainer flail. 'She's just like me earlier...' Luna thought. Her attention snapped back to the battle as she saw movement below. "Frontal attack? Then let's go on the defensive Nine! Irontail!"
"Nine!" The ninetales replied, spreading her tails wide around her. They wrapped themselves around the black and white pokemon, creating what seemed to be a flower...made out of tails. Black and white tails. The tails started to gain a metallic color, the fur on them became sharper.
As Nine sensed Reno's presents drawing towards her, she spun around and created a wall with her tails to block the vulpix and only take a minor blow. But it didn't stop there. The tails immediately decended down towards the vulpix, their sharp ends eager to peirce the smaller pokemon's flesh.

Reno couldn't evade the attack, she'd been running with too much focus on hitting Nine. She let out a pained yelp, and scurried to try and get away from the sharp ends of the tails.
Amelia covered her mouth, eyes wide. "Reno!" She bit her lip hard, eyes wide. Reno got away, and bolted away from Nine, stumbling a little once she'd stopped. Panting a little, she shook herself off, and looked at Amelia impatiently. Waiting for the next order. "Are you okay?" Amelia called to her, frowning.
Reno gave a short nod, and as much of a smile as she could muster. Amelia nodded, and smiled a little. "Alright, Reno! Will-O-Wisp!"
Reno grinned, and turned to face Nine, taking in a deep breath. She exhaled, then, aiming straight for Nine.

Prince snorted. Was that trainer an idiot or just plain foolish? Fighting fire with fire would just ignite everything. And his teammate always had the tendency to win when her element was involved.
"Haha~You silly!" Luna shouted, agreeing with Prince whole-heartedly. "Fire won't work against us! Slam!" She said, still restraining a giggle. Battles were so amusing sometimes.
Nine gracefully jumped high up in the air, ignoring the small burn she recieved on her leg from Reno's attack. Doing a small flip in the air, she decended again, paws first and ready to squish the smaller pokemon.

((OOC: Sorry for the delay. Hols are kind of crazy. sweatdrop And no, I just didn't realize how it looked until after I posted it. D: ))
Amelia frowned thoughtfully, and her eyes went wide when she saw the attack being administered. "Reno! Move!" Reno glanced back, and arched an eyebrow in a clear 'What do you think I'm doin'?' manner, before trying to bolt out of the way.
Almost successfully. She let out a keening pained cry, and her eyes blazed. She rounded back, and Amelia grinned. "Come on, Reno! Quick attack, knock that Ninetails off its feet!"
Reno grinned, and ran straight for Nine again, heading straight for her. She'd do more than just knock Nine off her feet, if luck was on her side.

"I don't think so!" Luna said with a smirk. "Nine! Imprison!" Personally, Luna didn't use imprison much. But she found it was quite useful for stopping pokemon. And since Reno was Nine's pre-evolved form, it would cancel out most of the other pokemon's moves.
Nine's eyes glowed again as she glared directly at the incoming Reno. A black aura surrounded the smaller pokemon, making the vulpix freeze. But she didn't stop there. The surroundings around Reno started to shift again, threatening to wrap around her and choke her. Nine nimbly hopped backwards, away from the attack, and watched with amused eyes.
"Haha, and incase you didn't know, let me explain the rules of imprison to you.. We can stop any of your pokemon's attacks if Nine knows it. So be careful and try to think of moves we wouldn't know~" Luna said to the other trainer cheerfully. In a way, this was a bit like a game. A guessing game. She loved those!

Amelia winced at the move, and rattled her brain for an attack, any attack, that Reno might know that Nine wouldn't. It definitely didn't help that Nine was the evolution of vulpix. Craaaap.
Reno's blue eyes went wide, and she shrunk down, looking around rapidly for an out that couldn't be seen. She glanced back towards her trainer, waiting for an attack to be issued.
After a minute, Amelia snapped, and grinned. Hopefully, this one would hit, and Reno'd get an advantage. "Reno! Try Grudge!"
Reno blinked owlishly, and then turned to Nine, eyes blazing. She closed her eyes, and scrunched her face up, concentrating on the attack. Everything started to grow hazy, and purple orbs began circling Reno. Her eyes snapped open, and she glared at Nine. The orbs went right for her.

"Haha, interesting one~!" Luna said, the move making her even more excited. Her grin grew even larger. "Nine! Let's end this! Overheat!" She shouted, completely ignoring the attack. It would be over soon anyways.
Nine winced as the attack knocked her back a little, but she had to focus on charging this attack. The heat in her body flared. Sure, fire attacks probably wouldn't have that much of an effect, but she was putting a lot of force into this attack, along with the natural heat of her arena. The attack would be supercharged. The vulpix did have a chance of standing it, but she would do her best to see it engulfed by its own element.
"Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!" Nine shouted, letting out a howl as she released her heat ina great shockwave, fire flaring up everywhere. From the lava pit below, flames arose through the holes of the net. Joining up with Nine's own flames, the fir rushed towards Reno as well as Nine, swallowing both of the pokemon.
Luna smirked, putting up her arm infront of her face. It was VERY hot, even if she stood a few feet away from the stadium. But she refused to budge, she would see this battle through the end. Luna wondered of Reno would be able to stand the fierce fire attack. "Well, either way, it'll be interesting!" The trainer thought to herself.

Amelia winced at the sudden blast of heat, eyes growing wide even as she covered her face with her arms to avoid getting blasted in the face. There was such a small chance Reno could avoid such a supercharged attack, she was definitely worried for her vulpix.
Reno tried her best to stand up and take the hit, but it was incredible. Even in her own element, it was fierce. She swayed side to side, trying to keep herself upright and wait for a new attack to be commanded. After a couple sways, though, her vision started blurring, and she dropped in a faint.
"Reno!" Amelia waited out the attack, and dug out her Pokeball. She called Reno back into the Pokeball, and winced. "We better get you to the PokeCenter." She said, putting the Pokeball back on her belt with care. She looked up at Luna, and grinned. "Nice battle! Your Nine's amazing." She waved at her, sheepishly. "Guess I've got a bit to learn, huh?"
