Maelon didn't really like grocery shopping. The grocery store was always full of pushy old ladies, screaming children, and people who drove their carts like they were racecars. The dark chocolate Sin'aeis had already had his foot run over by said drivers, and thus wasn't in a very good mood. Still, he had to get supplies for his baking if he wanted to get anything done for Christmas. He had to make gingerbread and Christmas cookies and shortbreads and all sorts of things, if only to send so a random girl. That way he could tell Akilah he had a girlfriend, and she'd finally leave him alone about the whole gay thing. Honestly.

The teen sighed as he pushed his cart down the dairy aisle, pausing to add milk and eggs to his cart. He leaned absently on the handle of his cart and glanced back at his list. Sigh. Still quite a few things to get. Hopefully Pryderi wasn’t expecting him home quickly, especially with all these people. Urg. Christmas was not a good time to go shopping anywhere.

Chaco had never seen crowds like this at a grocery store before. Oh, sure, he KNEW it was Christmas time (after all, who could NOT know, living with his mother? The entire mansion had been decorated with flashing lights, mistletoe (we don't talk about the mistletoe), wreaths, and there was a giant tree in the first livingroom. What she was thinking, Chaco had no idea), but really, it was a grocery store!

Alright, alright, it was less than a week before Christmas, sure. It was still making it hard to get around, and he had to keep his wings tucked in tight so that they didn't get damaged.

Fortunately for Chaco, Ryuu had demanded to come along, for the reason that, well, Chaco never really got the right things.

He watched the android finally decide on a type of canned turnips (what now?), and place them in the cart, and they were off again, headed toward Dairy. Because really, who didn't need milk? As he rounded the corner into the aisle, of course not looking at anything, he felt his cart connect with another. "Uhm. Sorry," he said, looking a the person in front of him.

A... Sin'aeis...? Chaco couldn't seem to remember his name, it had been so long. He hadn't seen the other since he was a baby. This was awkward.

Maelon jolted when the cart hit his, looking up sharply. Okay, if this was that guy who had run over his toe he was going to... well, he was going to do something! Probably yell at him. Maybe even threaten to beat him up. The dark chocolate Sin'aeis totally had the image going. Anyone with that much metal had to be dangerous. Only Akilah knew exactly what kind of person Maelon was, but as a general rule, he could scare some small children now and then. It was satisfying every time.

Unfortunately, it was a different guy and an assistant. Maelon eyed him for a moment, before realizing that there was something extremely familiar about those wings. How many people did he know with wings? Hmm... off the top of his head, no one. But he was sure he'd seen this guy before. "... You're that guy... from that huge a** house... Jacob?" It was worth a shot. If this guy didn't know him, well them he could just grab his cheese and leave.

"Ja..." Chaco blinked for a moment, "Uh. Well, no, but you got the house part right. I'm surprised you even remember that much." He smiled at the other Sin'aeis, "My name is Chaco, Chaco Shiroko. I... actually don't seem to remember your name, either." It was a strange lapse in memory, and he KNEW Illesi would give him grief about it if he ever found out.

"You're the Dark Chocolate Sin'aeis, I remember that much, though," Chaco said, thinking, "Your Protector was... Pryderi?" He was amazed that a Sin had become a Teen without Chaco even knowing about it, but then, he hadn't really interacted with many of the Sin recently. He was too busy trying to keep the mansion from falling apart.

"Well I'd kinda have to, I've been there enough...." Maelon grumbled under his breath, unable to stop the nose scrunch at the thought of the mansion. Too many crack things had happened there, not to mention Pryderi had forced him to go there much too often. They're mainly gone to children's parties or get togethers, back when the dark chocolate Sin'aeis had been going through his "I'm not talking to anyone at anytime" phase. The visits hadn't exactly been produced, but he was sure in hell not going to forget the mansion.

The Sin'aeis nodded when he was identified, looking slightly surprised that this Chaco knew his guardian. "Yeah, that would be my... guardian. It's Maelon, by the way." He studied Chaco again. "I remember you bein' a lot smaller..."

Chaco ran a hand through his hair, an odd look on his face, "Er... yeah. Uhm. Well, I grew, which surprised even me. I didn't think I'd grow past, well... er... 'kid stage'." It was so weird to refer to it like that. In some way, Chaco was still used to people growing like, well, PEOPLE. As opposed to going through stages. But there wasn't anything he could do about it, as he had no idea how to change it, and all books he could reference had been lost long ago.

"Ah... Anyway." Chaco had never been good at thinking of things to say, as Mae could probably tell, "Uhm. Do you still live with your Protector?" He knew some teens liked being more independent, like Akilah. Chaco couldn't help but shudder at the thought of her mere name, and was surprised she hadn't made any more attempts to kill him as of late.

"Huh," Maelon murmured. Of course he had grown. Still, for them to be at the same stage in life was a bit... weird. He had always thought of Chaco as being much older than him. Funny how perspectives change, especially now that they were about the same age physically. He still looked pretty much the same, the Sin mused. Chaco really hadn't changed much from Mae's foggy memories of him. Same brown hair, same brown wings. He probably even dressed the same.

"I do. We've moved around about, but I think we're staying where we are now. You still hang out with that friend of Pryderi's? The guy... um...." Mae had only ever heard of him, but he'd never met Aylee's brother.

Mae was right, it WAS kind of weird, and Chaco would be the first to admit it. But really, Chaco hadn't even expected to grow back kid, and he REALLY wasn't expecting to grow past teen. It was weird being younger than Illesi, but it was the way the council had set his biology, and there was nothing he could do.

The question caused Chaco to think for a moment, not knowing immediately whom Mae had meant, and finally he shrugged, "I think you mean Kunny? Uhm. Not... really. I mean, he stops by the house once in a while, to check up on things, but he's usually working." It still bothered Chaco that Kunny was an assassin. Yes, yes, he knew it was an important job, but having been a target far more than once in his life, the profession made him uneasy.

"Eh, probably him. Pry doesn't talk about him much, but I think he'd like to see him again or something." Mae shrugged his shoulders. Truth be told, he had no idea about his guardian's earlier relationship with Aylee's brother, seeing as he had been too young to understand when it was going on. By the time he even knew what a relationship was, Pryderi had stopped seeing Kunny and there was nothing going on between them.

Maelon's purple eyes darted over to Ryuu, who was standing so quietly beside Chaco. "Who's this? 's it your butler or something?" It was quite possible, seeing as Chaco living in a mansion.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2007 1:36 pm

To be perfectly honest, Chaco knew very little about the relationship between Kunny and Mae's Protector. Kunny rarely spoke about himself or his life, and Chaco rarely asked.

Chaco looked over at Ryuu, as though seeing him for the first time, "Eh? Oh, yes. This is Sasakura-san, er... and android, programmed by my mother. Er. He serves as the mansion's butler, yes." He honestly had no idea what his mother had been thinking in bringing Ryuu into the household, but, well, he was actually happy for the help. Have you ever tried to clean a three story mansion all by yourself?

After Chaco's introduction, Ryuu's smile broadened and he took a bow, "Sasakura Ryuu at your service. I am pleased to meet your acquaintance."

Sasakura-san.... Huh. What a weird name. People these days couldn't just name their kids Bob or Joe. They had to be Chaco and Sasakura and all sorts of other strange names. This guy had to have a nickname or something he could remember. Maelon sucked at remember names, not because he had a bad memory but because he just really didn't care. His own name was two syllables, and very easy to remember. He tended only to remember the names of people who either made a good impression on him or really pissed him off. Currently, Sasakura was doing neither.

"Right. Shouldn't he be doing the shopping instead of you? Or do you do the cooking and he just carries the stuff around?" Maelon nodded at the android's introduction, eyeing him curiously for a moment. "So you do all the cleaning and everything at that huge a** house right? Seen any ghosts around there?"

Chaco scratched behind an ear, "Well, technically, Sasakura-san only just because part of the household. Mum pulled him from another dimension and reprogrammed him for... well, her own amusement, really." He looked at Ryuu, "This is actually his first trip off the estate."

It was true. Though he'd been in the service of the Shiroko family for two weeks, Ryuu had yet to leave until now. The only reason he was doing so now was, well, because he'd seen what Chaco brought home when he shopped, and had come to the conclusion that the Sin'aeis wasn't very good at it. After this, he probably WOULD start doing so on his own, but the first task was the get through these terrible crowds.

"I help Chaco clean, yes," said Ryuu, a small nod, "Though my duties lie also in greeting people when they arrive at the mansion, preparing meals, and making sure everyone is still alive. I also tend the small bar in the kitchen." He smiled again, "But as of yet, I have not seen any ghosts."

"From another dimension?" Maelon was suddenly very interested in this android. "What dimension? Or did she just pull him without any knowledge of where he came from?" Androids from other dimensions were so much more interesting than ghosts in the mansion. Alternate dimensions had been something he'd looked into only briefly, but they had been interesting nonetheless. Hopefully Chaco would know something about them that he could research later. "Never been off the estate? Kept occupied up there for a long time?"

Maelon laughed when Ryuu said that he made sure everyone was alive, mind immediately going back to the ghost Akilah he had met there. Yeah... that was something he didn't want to repeat. "Well you make sure everyone there stays alive. You don't want another ghost there."

Chaco shrugged, "I don't know what dimension. Mom never tells me these things, though she's gotten really good at pin pointing specific dimensions using the Doors." He didn't even question if Maelon knew what that meant, figuring the other Sin'aeis would ask if not.

"Indeed, we would not want that," said Ryuu, still smiling. Even he didn't remember his home dimension, as he hadn't been activated until after he was at the mansion. Not that he was terribly curious. So long as he was allowed to bartend, he was happy. Simple pleasures, true.

Maelon sighed inwardly. He didn't know what dimension his android was from? Well that was a bummer. So his Mom knew? That was another disappointment. The redhead figured he was dragging around an android form another dimension, he ought to be able to answer questions about him. Being all "well my mom knows" was totally lame. He was a teenager. He should need to rely on his mother to handle all his information. "What do you mean the Doors?"

Okay, the android was just getting creepy now. How could he say something like that with a smile on his face? Ew. He was glad he'd gotten Akilah's ghost out of there quick time. Maelon did not like the thought of leaving Akilah alone, blind, in that mansion with this serial killer like butler. "Yeah, you do that... whatever your name was."
