I'm 14 years old and I just have a quick question. I'm not sure if I was born with a hymen, because I don't see one there. I've seen a few diagrams of them and I really can't tell. How do you tell if you have one? Where exactly is it in your v****a? I'm a virgin, but I do exercise a lot...maybe I broke it. And yes, I do have my period. Could that have affected it? There's just nothing there...where I think it should be. Can you please help me? Thanks. smile

This site has an actual picture of a hymen, so be careful, it is PG-13.

You can get a mirror and examine your body. Find things in the diagram and try to locate them on your own body. You might not be able to locate everything though. Bodies can vary a great deal from one person to the next. So your body might not look exactly like this lady's body.

The hymen is not in the v****a at all. The hymen is part of vulva (the external female genitalia).

Your period doesn't change your hymen, but being active can. Most girls tear their hymen in childhood or around puberty.

You could be right; there might not be anything there. Some girls are born without a hymen. It really doesn't matter. Your hymen doesn't do anything anyway. So there or not, torn or intact, it's not going to change anything.
