Kaie ran from her room. Something in her gut told her that Para was not safe, that he was in trouble. As Gossame suddenly appeared by her side, her fears were made true. He rushed along side her, a pair of blades attached to both wrists. "You are different for a human."

"I am not sure if I am." Kaie responded, as it was truth. She did not know what she was. "If that older brother of ours is trying something stupid again I swear I'll rip his throat out this time..."

Kail busted into the Libary while para was reading and Shade and daga were talking. " Shade, I have orders here from father ordering you advance the Boy's testing. His next fight is going to be against Abomination and it's to be this afternoon. " Shade was furious. " Abomination is the strongest creature on this island and Para is barely done with his basic studies. There's no way he can take on Abomination at this point in time. "

Kail showed him the paper and Shade mumbled. " The lord must have gone completely insane if he actully thinks Para can stand up to Abomination but I can not defy the Lords orders. If I must, then I must. " Shade said. " Come prince, your father has issued a new test for you. I'll have to teach you something along the way. " Shade said, leaving the Library. Daga followed close behind.

Gossame went ahead as his mistress had instructed. She had paused to scry out Kail's location and just as she was to open the door she heard of the orders. Her father had left HER in charge. Any and all orders were to be placed THROUGH her. She told him to move ahead of her as she hid out of sight when Shade and Daga left with her youngest sibling in tow. He clearly remembered her command:

"Tell Shade of Kail's ill will but be sure they go to abomination none-the-less. If these orders seem real enough, it must be done. However, I know of Kail's frequent deceit and his hatred for Para. This could just be another way for him to knock the boy off of the throne and throw me out of my Father's good wishes. Give daga this." She handed him some sort of token. "He will know what it means." Then she vanished from sight...but her presence still lingered around him.

"The things I do for her..." He whispered to himself. But she was worth...yes, this one was worth the trouble.

<>

"You slimey, ill-bred b*****d." Kaie snarled, her golden eyes glittering with untamed rage. "You dare to send an order without my permission? What has gotten into that devilish head of yours?" She slammed the door to the library the brass handles hissed as she did so, the power simmering in her hands wearing away at the metal surface, leaving it scarred. "Where are these orders Kail? Hand them to me." She commanded. "If you dare to speak a lie, I will be sure that your head is in abominations maw and not little Para's."

Kail threw her the parchment and grinned. " There's nothing you can do now. It's even got Father's signature and his aura on it. It's totally legal and if you do anything to stop it....then Father's gonna have a word with you. " He laughed and quickly left the Libary, heading towards the arena.

The others were allready at the arena, setting Para up for his test. Daga couldn't do anything but watch what was about to happen. Shade perpared the boy for everything but it still wasn't enough. " Remember, you've got to use every last ounce of power if you want a chance to succeed. " Shade said, going to the other side of the arena.

Shade pulled a small black marble from his staff and shattered in in front of him. A black liquid ozzed out and began to quickly grow in shape and mass. When it was done growing, it looked just like Shade except it was ten feet tall, a hunched back, Giant muscles and limbs, and carryed a bone scyth.

Para swallowed the knot that was building in his throat and gave a nod. As Shade released Abomination he felt his knees quiver. He had only just started learning defensive work from Daga and magical summons from Shade. He had watched Kaie many a time...drawing power from what was around her. But she was a natural...he had no talent in such things. He had handed Speckles to Daga for safe keeping and now oggled Abomination with wide eyes.

<>

Kaie's yellow eyes flickered with violence. She raised her aura and slammed her fist into an invisible barrier. Her body jolted forward, traveling over the current of mana until she was at the battle field where Para now faced Abomination. She needed to give him support. Her golden eyes looked to her frail, younger sibling. "Para...remember. Your enemy is only as strong as your fear of him. Have no fear, and you have no enemy."

-

Para looked to Kaie, then back at Abomination. He tried envisioning the creature as a kitten and instead saw a raging tiger. Well...he was afraid...and he knew this was going to be hard now.

It was to para's luck that Abomination was a slow mover but his attacks could shatter armies like nothing. It took one step and then another, dragging the scyth behind him like an ogre a club. It continued on, getting closer and closer and closer.

Kail sat on the Arena steps and watched the battle. " Finally, nobody can help you this time you little baby. I'm gonna enjoy every moment of this. "

Para looked back at Kaie, her eyes did not warm, but a smile hinted at the corners of her mouth. She believed in him. He turned on Abomination then filled with a sort of courage he did not know he had. He hated Kail, that's what he would use. He hated his brother...he would use hate to create. Kaie had always said the strongest creatures came from the strongest emotions. The little white-haired boy stood very still and muttered and encantation beneath his breath. It was right about when Abomination came close enough to lift his scythe and slam it down that the boy vanished completely. Moments later a bird cry came from above. He rode a smaller version of the birds Kaie had summoned to destroy the ship Daga had come on.

However, this bird had fiery eyes. He commanded it to focus on Abomination, still a little unsure how to kill the massive creature. Its eyes glew and then a ray of light burst from them. Fire spilled across Abominations left shoulder, singing the large beings skin. Para bit his lip...with any luck, he'd come out of this conscious.

Abomination moaned loudly as his Oil like body was bured. The goo bubbled for a minute before healing itself. Abomination was starting to get quicker now that it had been hurt. He turned around and lifted and pointed at the bird, opening and spreading it's bone like fingers. A ball of energy started to form. It aimed for a minute before shooting a large beam or energy straight at the bird.

Thallis was sitting on his throne watching the fight, tilting his head back andtapping against the stone chair. Daga aproached and and bowed. " Sir, I know I can't change your mind about this but this is to much for the boy to handle. Abomination is just to strong for him beat. Even Kaie can't beat him and she's the second strongest person on the island. " Thallis yawned and looked at him, the sun reflecting off his mask. " It's funny because he isn't supposed to take this test until he's much older. Although, it is amuzing me so I think I'll let it continue. I'll punish who's ever responsible afterwards. "

The tip of the birds tail feathers were singed as para very narrowly missed being killed. He apologized to his summons, soothing the birds irritation. How was he supposed to beat this thing? Why would his father want him to face Abomination so soon. Tears stung his little eyes as he whimpered. Had Kail been right? Did Thallis really want him dead? He felt a pressure in his skull and voice echo through it.

-Para, move your a**!- Kaie screamed at him. He did so without thought, Abominations scythe removed a few mroe tail feathers from his summon. The bird was irrate now and it dove upon its oppressor, rending its flesh in its claws as it darted past. Circle after circle Para clung to his magical beast, striving for control over it.

-

"He is going to die if this continues. His power is strong, but he does not know how to control it." Kaie grumbled, pacing impatiently on the sidelines. As Abomination lumbered around in an attempt to catch the large rave, something flickered behind her eyes and a memory washed over her...

"Papa!" The little girl screamed, watching the large blade rip through her guards. She cried out as it knicked her arm, red blood dripping from the wound. The white haired child gazed upon it...wondering why it was that color. She felt strong arms wrap around her waist and lift her ont a war horse. Her father kicked the side of his mare and they blazed past the oily creature with its big scythe.

"Damnit Vehdra. Where is your mother?"

"They...ate her." The little girl whispered, her eyes haunted with the memory of the blood spraying in her young face, the taste of salt and copper. She had run...and found the courtyard in the same amount of chaos. He did not react to her statement, his jaded heart was hardened, but he loved his daughter and could not, would not let her die. THey rode and rode...passing legions of evil beasts devouring their village and slaying any in their midts who managed to defy them. It all was a blur until it stopped.

Her father dismounted, pulling her along with him. They were at the falls, the waters noise drowned out the cries of the villagers behind them. "Vehdra...you must trust me." He placed his hand over her eyes.

"I do Papa."

"Good bye little one." And then she felt a pain at her temple and all was dark...

Kaie, without even knowing it, had entered the battle ring and struck Abomination with a force so powerful that it knocked the beast from his feet. Glowing all over her body were runes and symbols not of any magic used on the island. Her gold eyes were so bright it hurt to look upon them/ With memory filling her head, blinding her to her own actions, she struck again, her blade receiving the rage that she bore in her heart. Abomination howled, lifting itse scythe to strike her but it was batted away by Para's bird, teh boy finally haven taken control of the animal when he saw Kaie glowing. The summoner stumbled back from the force of Abominations fall, the oily creature shuddered and stood, its lumbering frame regenerating.

It was then her eyes cleared and the runes dissipated. Disoriented, she set a hand to her head and stumbled about. Gossame leapt from the seats, removing his mistress just in time to avoid another attack from Abomination. "Lady Kaie! What has gotten into you?" He asked, now conscerned for the woman who had granted him freedom in this plane. She furrowed her brow and cocked her head to one side, as if trying to recall what had happened. When he realized that she did not understand, he sighed and looked to Shade. "What is the matter with her?"

-

Para dove again, this time managing to rend from Abomination his scythe. His bird was too weak to carry it very long, but now the nasty thing was unarmed. He worried over his sister. She never interferred with Father's plans, never went against his orders...but something had her in its grasp. Something had taken her and she attacked with him. While it felt good to have help...he worried.

Abominatio was now getting very angry now that it had been knocked over and it's weapoen taken from him. So angry that the creature changed. Two large wings made of Bone and the Oil like skin emerged from it's back. Abominations body also made a large sword made of the tough bone. It thrust out of the creatures stomach and hit the ground. The creature scooped it up and looked up at Para. it's two wings began to beat and flap untill Abomination lifted and so chased after Para.

Shade looked at him and then back at the fight. " Her people defied the lord's orders and he may them pay dearly for there mistake. They tried to rally people to over throw the lord but it didn't last long. He sent me to destroy them and I did. Kaie was just a child when that happened. I found her and brought back here. The lord accepted her as his own and she's been living here since. "

Gossame looked to Kaie. She had averted her eyes and was now watching the fight. Whatever had troubled her moments earlier, no longer reflected in her pretty gold eyes. Her white hair flitted about her as Abomination flew into the air and began to chase Para. She closed her eyes, seeking out her father...but something broke her concetration. Her father was a tall bearded man with ruddy skin, muscular arms and a gentle face. She shook away the thought. Denying the memoory as her own. Simply accepting it as a strange delusion. Still...

-Father...- She called to Thallis. -Your son is in danger. He will not last much longer.-

Thallis did nothing but look up in the air to watch the fight. He already knew the out-come of the fight and there wasn't anyway to change it. He ignored Kaie and instead looked at Daga. " Go and fecth one of the Tower Necromancers. Were going to need one here in a minute. "

Daga couldn't do anything but nodd and do what he was asked. He ran out of the Arena and towards the palace.

Abomination, now very angry, quickly caught up with para and the bird. The creature raised the sword and brought it down hard on the bird, slicing into it but missed Para.

Para screamed as he fell off of his summon. The beast vanished after it was sliced through completely. Para tried to focus, but found his fear was overwhelming. When he hit the ground, he was shocked to find it soft and fluffy. Beneath him was a cloud. Thank goodness that artifice class that some of the older mages insisted he take. If he had not made his ring of prevention, he would have been a bloody mess on the ground. He watched with fear as Abomination circled around.

-

Kaie's irritation rose and fell. Her father was ignoring her, her sibling was very near to the end of his life and she could do nothing about any of it. Her yellow eyes darkened and she crossed her arms over her chest. This was not her day. Gossame watched her brood, and as she did his tall, pale gray form moved nearer to Shade. He had more questions to ask and was sure Kaie was in no mood to answer them.

"Why did the Dark King take her as his daughter?" Gossame inquired, tossing some of his pale white hair behind his pointed ears. Being a drow, he was not bothered by Shade. "My mistress is strong, but I can feel mortality in her. Though her life may be long, she is not immortal like Para or some of the King's other children. What was so special about my lady that he chose to keep her?"

" You'd have to ask him yourself but he doesn't like talking about it. I brought her back because she was able to kill one of my own Corpus Horsemen. I saw Potention in her so I brought her back. He saw more in her and counted her as onw of his own. "

Abomination aimmed down on Para and his wings melted back into his body and he dropped out of the sky, nose first with the sword pointing down striaght at the little prince.

Para bit his lip, bracing himself for the worst when he felt that pressure in his head again. This time, it was gentle. -No fear...no enemy.- He looked up and rolled out of the way then ran for it. His tiny legs pumped quickly across the ground. Once he had enough momentum a pair of wings sprouted from his own back and he launched into the air. He turned about, still flying higher but no able to see the diving Abomination. He placed his hand in front of him bringing bot forefingers and thumbs together to make a box around his opponent. He remembered reading about trap spells in a few of the books Shade has for him, he hoped this worked.

He recalled Shade's voice in his head: "Now little prince, keep your eyes on your target, imagine lines falling over it, one by one, then act as if those lines come together as a net would. Once you are done, pretend to lock them to the ground. Your enemy will be trapped as long as you remain concentrated on him." And that is just what he did. Lines fell across Abomination and right as the creature landed, he pinned the lines to the earth, locking Abominations arms to its side and keeping its head firmly on the ground. it's bone sword skidded out of reach as the beast was lain down. Para felt weakness creeping over him. He had used alot of strength, but he could not lose concentration. If he did...there was no living.
