Just wondering what feeling most of you like transmitting in your music, either by vocals or guitar.

Happiness? Sadness? Anger, regret, insanity??(There are others)

Most of my songs are consisting of Sadness or insanity, but I do have a few love songs ^-^

Speak.

Hmm.. usually i have strong emotions, like anger, reminiscent feelings, sadness, hurt, regret, confusion, and what not... usually because stronger emotions are easier to transfer into music.

Not that I don't feel happiness, peacefulness, and other softer emotions, it's just harder to transfer those into tunes, at least for me.

and it's harder to connect with happier songs.
(Like when Tori Amos made happier songs. It didn't hit me the way her really emotional, darker stuff did.)

I have difficulty writing songs that aren't dark. I'm a perfectly happy individual; my dark side is just fed into my music, I guess.

Interesting topic ^_^
I think most of my songs are sort of lyrically existentialist and bitter, haha.

I like to write weird, whimsical lyrics...I like concept albums and stuff, so sometimes they tell a story.

The last one I wrote started out like a love song, with a person saying how much he loves the object of his affections, but as the song goes on, it hints more and more that the protagonist is actally a stalker, although it doesn't actually say it. And the music starts off quite mellow too, but towards the end the electric gutar wigs out the the acoustic guitar riff that's played over and over starts playing notes off the scale, and this weird noise in the background gets louder, like...Voices in his head or something. I'm quite proud of it!

I tend to use only minor scales, I like the way they sound better. I like the sadness in them.

the music I listen too is upbeat; my favorite band is The Strokes.
What I'm most interested in is the dynamics of a song and how it affects the mood. The J-Rock band The Pillows have songs with a heavy contrast between a mellow verse and a heavy chorus producing a very dramatic effect. I suppose that would be the dynamic equivalent of spontaneously crying your heart out.
And if you like insane stuff The Mars Volta can be chaotic or for heavy insanity, Maximum The Hormone
