So, the players who will be playing in Hawaii in February were announced yesterday. I'm just curious who everyone thinks is a surprise, wether they got in or were left out.

Here're my personal picks.

Surprises to make:

Donald Driver, WR, GB. I know that he's had an amazing year with the 12-2 Packers, but he's declined to the #2 receiver on the team behind Greg Jennings. I understand that there is more chemistry between him and Favre than there is with Jennings, but I still think that Jennings earned it more than Driver.

Patrick Willis, LB, SF. It's actually more of a surprise to see that Urlacher is NOT making the trip than Willis making it. He's done pretty good, totalling 142 tackles. But, he only has 1 sack and a fumble recovery on the lowly 49ers defense.

Sean Taylor, S, WAS. I know that it is quite an honor to remember Taylor this way and, were he alive, he would still be leading the NFC in interceptions. As much as an honor as it is, it should stay that way: an honorary member of the roster.

Surprises to miss:

Marques Colston, WR, NO. The Saints are again on the march, but none of them made the Pro Bowl. Colston, probably the biggest surprise, has eclipsed 1,000 yards again and is leading the team in TD's.

Fred Taylor, RB, JAX. He's eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing again this year and helped lead the Jaguars likely into the playoffs. But, he got the brush because only 3 can go (Tomlinson, Addai, Parker).

Mario Williams, DE, HOU. Many questioned why the Texans took Williams instead of Bush last year. This year he proved why, totaling 13 sacks on an improved Texans defense.

Another point that I feel needs to be addressed is the representation. I know there's nothing that we can do about it, but I don't particularly like how the Pro Bowl participants are selected. Yeah, I know it's by vote of the players, coaches, and fans, but I also think it's unfair that some teams like Dallas and New England can send so many players and teams that are good like the Browns, Jaguars, and Buccaneers don't send anyone. I personally feel that, like the All-Star games of the MLB, NBA, and NHL, there should be at least one player from each team. Obviously, the best players should go and play, but why can't you send one good player from the teams that aren't so good? I can go down a list of players who deserve to go (F. Taylor, J. Lewis, McGahee, V. Davis, and Colston, just to name a few). Am I the only one who feels this way? Or do others have the same concern?

I mimc your feelings, people only look at the hype and not the stats. It's not fair that some players are worse then other and only go due to ok play and hype.

I was a bit surprised that Fred Taylor was left off there.

...but the AFC has the better Pro-Bowl team this year...

well the running backs that were chosen run a little bit better than fred taylor does, I'm not saying he sucks. he's one of the best out there. and of course Dallas has 7 pro bowlers, but that makes me wonder how much the pats have. I hope somebody can beat them, I really don't want to see them of all people go 16-0 or better yet(worse yet) 19-0 as super bowl champs. but I don't wanna get off topic. I'm making an early call, for the NFC to beat the AFC, because that's a game nobody cares about and the NFC need to win a pro bowl again.

Willie Parker isn't doing better than Fred Taylor.

Taylor has a much higher yards per carry ratio, while Parker has under 4.0 to my knowledge. The only reason Willie Parker leads the NFL in yardage, is because he's had far more carries than any other RB in the league.

Taylor has passed the 10,000 yard mark and has played for a decade. He sure deserves a Pro-Bowl sometime, and this was his best chance.

This agains reminds me of the greatess travesty in sports: FRED TAYLOR HAS NEVER MADE A PRO BOWL!!!!! It's kinda messed up actually.

Fred Taylor, Plaxico Burress, and Kellen Winslow deserve to be in this season's Pro-Bowl...
