Kuval idly walked along the oceans bottom, and he glared at random fish that came too close to his body. The day was as boring as usual, and the Kelpi was starting to get huffy from the lameness of the area around him. Lately the days had been so uneventful, and it had been awhile since he had any social contact. It wasn't that he looked for it, but he enjoyed bothering others. It gave him a strange satisfaction, and when he had no one to torment, he was left completely bored! He did try to go on land just the other day, but it was after a few moments that he realized how annoying land dwellers were. They never had anything smart or useful to say, and the Kelpi was angry in a matter of seconds! But he learned his silly lesson, and decided not to make his way up there for quite awhile.

So now, he was left with nothing to do. The territory around him was empty, and the Kelpi wondered if he needed to move to a new spot or something. Sometimes a new set of pace could help change his attitude, though at the moment Kuval wondered if that was even possible..

An’Jeli quietly flit along the ocean’s floor. She was watching the other fish as they went along and felt just a bit jealous of them all. She’d only spoken to two others in her whole life. One - a small filly and the other a four-legged mare with wings. Obviously, the latter didn’t live under the water’s surface. Her yellow-black spotted tail stuck out like a sore thumb, but the owner of it rarely appreciated the charm. Shyness mixed with a certain wariness kept ‘Jeli from really getting out and meeting anybody. Her mind had wandered quite far away and in that time the simple flip-flip of running water over her tail had moved her into the open. Hair floated upwards as she went, not paying an ounce of attention. Almost like a fishing bobber with too much weight on it.

The orange-white kelpi was simply a blur out of her peripheral vision, until she turned her head slowly and found that if she didn’t move and fast it’d be time to have a conversation with another.. Not of her exact type, but the kelpi stallion had to understand the ocean. Boy did he look irritable though…

Out of the corner of his eye, Kuval could have sworn he saw a vivid and bright color appear. The male was perplexed, and he turned himself around, only to see a mer in the distance. He had seen a male mer before, and now it was proven to him that the females looked MUCH better (obviously, of course). The stallion was intrigued by this new appearance, and he slowly made his way over to where the mare was residing.

"Good day." he shouted, as if too naturally. He kept his eyes off her, since he was not aware if he needed eye contact at this moment. Since the mare did not say anything to him, he wondered if she was the shy type, and if he could gather up the strength to actually piss her off.

"Well, I think its day." he then commented, while staring up above them. Rays of light were showing through the water's movement, but the rays were weak, and Kuval wondered that time of day it was. "Now now, what do we have here? You mers sure are something." He wasn't at all that impressed, but he was talking her up as if she was something spectacular. "If only we kelpis could be born with hair.. what a wonderful delight that would be.." And a pain!

… crap. She’d been spotted. Freezing up a bit at the greeting the kelpi shouted, ‘Jeli spun herself about to face him. Unfortunately, her tongue was rather stuck so the only action she took was to stare rather stupidly at him. Even her body seemed frozen, front legs kicked out and stiff while her tail shot straight up towards the surface. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Finally, when the other looked up towards the surface her mind returned if not a bit too slowly. Following where his eyes went ‘Jeli figured he was right.. Daytime only changed the deeper parts of the ocean a little bit, but from where she’d been going it was getting lighter.

Wait.. Wait.. Her mind had been unfocused and now this stallion was rambling about… hair? Didn’t they? Oh wait, no their mane area had gill looking things. She relaxed her body and drifted down closer to him, moving with a natural grace that came in handy when she wasn’t frightened of what was going on around her. “You.. Speak for other kelpis wanting hair, but perhaps they do not wish for what is on the other side of the fence?”

The mare was strangely quiet for awhile, and Kuval rolled his eyes at this predicament. "If you are not going to speak, then there is no reason for me to be standing here." And, just a few moments after, it seemed the mare DID speak, and Kuval DID have a reason to loiter around there.

"I think I can say confidently that most usually want what they don't have, just so they can know what its like to have something you don't have." With a pause, he cocked his head before smirking at the female. "Its just the way the mind works, its pretty simple if you ask me. But, I see your point, miss.. miss?" He raised a brow, before realizing he didn't know her name. What a travesty! "What is your name? Mine is Kuval. Pleasure." Well, sort of. He really was such a tongue twister, but either way, he continued to watch the mare, with a usual smirk here and there.

He was hoping he could have fun with this one, and really drive her mad!

Yeesh. Impatient male. The two words probably belonged together because she had never met another male in her life… Not even her own father. Yes, he was probably just acting like all the other ones and she’d have to humor him in order to keep herself from being flustered by him.

“Your logic does not seem.. Well, very logical to me.. Perhaps I’m an oddity with my type of creature.” Tossing her hair back as some of it had managed to drift in front of her eyes in a rather.. Unattractive manner ‘Jeli blinked when she realized that they hadn’t introduced themselves to each other yet. “Oh.. My manners.. You’re the second.. Or maybe third person I’ve ever met… I am An’Jeli… Most just call me ‘Jeli.” What the hell does most mean when I’ve only met three… Hm. He was most definitely a very confusing stallion, but she’d just keep her patience up and hope she was smart enough to follow along.

“I.. I fear I may be dreadfully stupid.. Your words are hard to follow along with.” No use in playing herself to be what she wasn’t… Blah. Kicking her front legs out she lifted about a half a foot higher, giving him her silhouette. She knew that what was potentially lacking in brains was made up for with a youthful bright look..

He was glad to see she was confused, and that only opened up more room for him to speak. "Well, at least you admit to your stupidity, my words are as clean and composed as they can be. I am not entirely sure why you feel such confusion, I am only making an effort towards this lifeless conversation." With a flick of his nose, he rolled his eyes back on the mare, who seemed to be shifting positions.

"Jeli? Are you related to a Jelly fish? How distasteful. Those things are so painful, they always sting my leg. But I suppose if that is what you want me and others to call you, I will happily subside my rudeness." he bowed his head with uttermost care, before bringing his lying eyes back on the female. "So if my words are confusing, what should I be talking about? What stimulates your senses?" The stallion crept closer, while holding an obnoxious grin. "Do actions speak louder then words?"

He quickly pulled away from her, before swishing his tail at a grouping of fish. They seemed to be standing in a popular area, fish were swimming by them form all directions. It was of an uttermost annoyance to the Kelpi. "Stupid fish, I should eat all of you. But risking being fat, how dreadful." he quickly swerved his body back towards the female, before blinking slightly. "So now, Jeli dear, did you think of something you wanted to talk about?"

‘Jeli’s ears pricked forward keenly, it really wasn’t all that easy getting to know others if they were all like this particular stallion. No wonder the gold-black mare tended to stay hidden where even the sun’s rays didn’t dare to venture. Certainly a cold climate for her… “I.. Would not call this a lifeless conversation. Would we not both be entirely silent if that were the case?” seemed to be a reasonable thought.

What was wrong with jelly fish? Personally, they were quite lovely to see in her own opinion. Avoiding the tentacles sometimes wasn’t all that easy, but when they had their mating time the massive amounts of them seemed quite a bit like a rainbow to her. Afterwards, eh, not quite as pretty when they floated entirely without life all about… “Stimulates my senses? I have to confess that just meeting another underwater creature is enough for me.. I’m a simple enough creature.”

Her own tail jerked and tucked up under quickly as several fish were quite literally batted her way. A mixture of pity and the mean desire to giggle at the expression on their faces warred. Inevitably she stayed quiet and shook out her head again. “You eat fish?” Personally, the crisp taste of kelp and any other random greenery in the water was delicious for her.. “Well, I don’t suppose I could ask you what it’s like above water? Whenever I surface people gawk at me quite awkwardly.. So.. Well, going up doesn’t really have much of an appeal. Do they ogle you?” Of course they would, the orange on him was quite pretty.. Err.. Handsome probably a better word choice.

Kuval pouted his lip at this mare, since he was in wonderment about her calm and relaxed personality. Her ways weren't helping his obnoxious front at all, and he crunched his teeth at that realization. "Simple? So you don't enjoy situations with wild complexity? Like, fighting for someone's life, or fighting in general? Or even mysterious findings, or complicated scenarios?" It was a normal question, and he felt odd asking something to help the conversation, since his usual way was to ruin it purposely. "Simple can get so dull, there is so much more out there!"

Ah well, life's mysteries weren't appealing to all creatures! "Above the water? Well its hideous and dry, and all of the creatures refer to us as sea monsters." With a growl, Kuval watched the bubbles float up and past his face. "They gawk at you awkwardly because they have nothing better to do with their time. Trust me, I have lived up there before, and it is a terrible climate. It is far much better under the water." Well, for any creature that dwelled in the sea, they would most likely agree fully!

"Oogle me? Yeah right! They fear me, but I rather enjoy that. If I were to be oogled, I think I would be scared. I wouldn't want some crazy land dweller hitting on me!" he then said, with mild distaste. "Why, do you want them to oogle you when you surface?" Since sadly.. they probably would never. They didn't appreciate the 'better' creatures.

‘Jeli noticed the pout but figured it had to do with something altogether different than wanting to be obnoxious. She really was far too naïve for her own good, and one day that’d bite her in the tail. Not that she’d ever admit it. “Wild complexity? Such as?” Nothing had ever come her way and asked that… “I enjoy my time alone.. And sometimes I enjoy being around others.. I suppose you’d find my life dull to the core.. For me it works.” Her words were soft and rambling, fading in and out of volume as her mind wandered to and fro. So much out there, but how much of it was interested in her…

The sandy beaches had looked a bit ugly to ‘Jeli every time she surfaced, but that didn’t’ mean the trees and such weren’t all that fascinating. Maybe he was insulting it all because kelpis really couldn’t go that far away from the ocean. Only once had she felt wet sand under her hooves up where the water broke and fell in waves. A strange feeling, made ‘Jeli truly feel heavy… “The water is so pretty.. I just can’t help but wonder about how it feels up there. Air seems utterly awful to me.. Obviously.”

A soft giggle escaped without too much thought… Why on earth would a two-legged drylander hit on anything of a different species. Her definition was more of just to admire.. But her word choice might have been poor. “No.. I’d rather them just accept that I’m there and not think anything of it.” That had yet to happen though.

Good lord! How did this mare live! "If you choose to live your life that way, then you will continue to have absolutely nothing exciting happen in your life." It was a harsh reality, and the stallion was blunt in his words, as usual. "I know you are content living in such a bubble, but jeez, the ocean is big for a reason! Getting into trouble and mischief is all a part of life." And, it was all part of the fun!

Oh whatever, not everyone saw it as it was. "Of course it works, there is no effort in what you are doing now. Many things that work require no effort!" Kuval then winked at the mare, wondering if she would realize how simple all of the concepts were. "Wild complexity can be anything that is out of the ordinary, and anything that challenges you. At the moment, your life is anything but challenging, so that's why you probably don't understand the vast situations that are possible."

He felt like he was talking to a child, and he shook his head with disgust. "I am only sharing the truth to everything, I don't really care what you do with it." he then stated, with mocking eyes. "So basically, you like to just be invisible from the world? Well, that's great, isn't it?" Pfft, mares these days! They were either too much, or too little. That's what the stallion had learned from his many endeavors.

The exact same question seemed to be rattling around in ‘Jeli’s head. She pondered over it for several moments, probably would have brought a rather awkward silence to the conversation if he were the type to not… talk so much. Blinking slowly, considering rather carefully just how to phrase her response, ‘Jeli decided upon, “It is not a bubble… so much as happiness… Yes there are other things I would like to experience, but with those might come misery.”

Now… he had her life all wrong. “I do go all over the place, just typically to enjoy scenery instead of meeting people.” Sure, sometimes there were others about, but avoiding them just came naturally. The deepest parts of the ocean gave such a thrill, going as deep into the darkness as she dared… Not seeing anything or anyone, not knowing if some strange creature could come out at any moment and have more in mind than a hello… Of course, she kept these thoughts to herself and canted her head.. Still feeling a bit behind.

“That is your truth, Kuval… not mine.” Where had that come from. Surprise passed quickly from her face. What was she feeling towards this stallion…? It felt quite a bit like anger, something she had spent little to no time with in her lifetime. “Invisibility has it’s advantages, but I’m sure you would not know of them.” Pushing her chin higher in the air, she wanted to defend herself. Not be treated like a weakling.

Kuval smirked in the change in the female's voice, and he strode past her while staring off pleasantly. "So now you toughen yourself up? Are my words that annoying? I wonder what else you can do, since it appears you are more mysterious then I thought." Ah, well, Kuval wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying, so it was no doubt the female wanted to at least try and defend herself. That showed that she had some spunk and personality, and that was always a plus.

"How else can I interpret your life? You may enjoy it, but many wouldn't, so my opinion stands firmly by my hooves. Being invisible is like not being alive, so if that's the case, why are you alive?" Turning his head to face her, he raised a brow while holding a frown. "If that's how you really feel, then I'll back off, but. To me it sounds like you are scared or something, since scenery can't talk back to you you know. There is a way that you can enjoy scenery, but also not be invisible. That's what you should focus on."

Kuval knew his words were probably hopeless, but he decided to speak his opinion anyway. Its not like he would ever stop himself, even if the mare was getting upset. "I don't think you even know what truth means." he then finished, while raising his own head in a grunt.

‘Jeli stared upwards for a moment, feeling the flashing of guilt that came whenever she got even the smallest bit angry with someone. Anger was a form of manipulation wasn’t it? Throwing some sort of fit in order to make the other person do what you or to see things your way? A soft sigh bubbled up in her throat but she pushed it away with little annoyance. “No, your words are not annoying to me… Not in all actuality.. But rather… they are wrong.” Simply put, that was how she felt.

She’d be lying, blatantly, if ‘Jeli didn’t admit to herself that she was still angry with this stallion and it’d be more than a little bit enjoyable for her to shriek and yell at him to get away and to keep himself there. What fun would that be though? She so rarely spoke to anybody and this much time had gone into the conversation. “Perhaps I am afraid of people, but I find my own ways to make happiness.. I simply don’t choose to be like every other tom, d**k, and harry that lives Unda dah sea?”

He was being almost… kind to her now. She canted her head at him and made a soft concession to him, “You do not have to stop.. While your words are wrong to me part of the time I am understanding what you mean with some of the rest.” Lifting her own chin stubbornly, she waited to be denounced a dunce … again or something similar.

"Why would you be afraid of others?" he then asked, with wide eyes. "I understand if you are confessing to that scenario, but how is that possible? We are social creatures you know, and if you avoid everyone.. how are you supposed to be happy?" The stallion was perplexed.. he had never met someone with such terrible social motivation. "Don't get me wrong, happiness exists in all forms, but it shouldn't always be when you are alone."

Pfft, this was very confusing. Kuval felt his head pound as he thought, and he shrugged his head angerly at the entire scene. "You and I are clearly opposites, since we see life in two different ways." And it wasn't a good opposite, like one that could make the situation interesting. Instead, it was as if two personalities were clashing. Kuval was only getting frustrated from that detail.

"As I have said before, you can do as you wish, I don't really know why I am still talking about it." But if he remembered correctly, the mare didn't bring any other details up. Oh well, he would have to put up with her stressful words for just awhile longer, and hopefully his head would relax if he calmly silenced himself for a moment. He breathed in slowly, while bringing his glared eyes up on hers.
