I'm trying with green tea, it's so gross emo But my boyfriend loves it, and my grandma sings it's praises at me, constantly. But I'm also the one family member and one of the rare southerners that doesn't like any tea, not even sweet tea... soo... I'm really still grossed out by this.

I tried some sips of some my grandma had, lipton citrus green tea, it tasted alright... I bought a semi-small bottle to try learning to like it with. The first sip was fine, the more I drink it the more sick it makes me.

I want to learn to like it for them, but it's sooo gross.

I've recently gotten more into vegetables and healthy things for me, and less into meat at every meal, as well... so I was thinking since my taste buds have changed it might not be so bad. Wrong.

So discuss horrible foods you've tried to teach yourself to like.

I've done it on few occasions...

First, Mushrooms... I still can't eat 'em 100%... But I can't make my own pasta without it (I cook my own lasagna, tortellini, etc) in the sauce/food. Basically... I love the taste it gives the sauce now... I just can't eat the shroom itself.

Second was Beer! I love beer now. Although I still can't drink cheap light beer... <3 Sam Adams...

Third, shots. I hate shots still. I can't drink 'em... Maybe because I'm always thirsty, and I can't slow down when it comes to shots... I end up drinking about 10 an hour... Not a good idea...

I have a fear of fungus, definately wouldn't want to bother teaching myself to eat mushrooms, haha.

My friends love photographing me drinking because it's so rare, and my one friend calls me a light-weight even though I have drunk enough to get quite a few people drunk without being more than tipsy... but I just can't stand the taste of alcohol, and since I don't have a desire to be drunk I don't bother.

But I can't drink smirnoff and most fruity beer drinks, I got a hangover from a half a bottle of one where I wasn't even tipsy, while I had 3 whiskey sours and 6-8 shots of vodka and I woke up the next morning fine and dandy.

I make funny faces when I drink, haha.

gonna close my eyes...and watch you go.

I love tea. My problem is that I add about 5 spoons of sugar before I can drink it.

And...Iunno. o.o

I like a lot of weird foods that other people hate. xd

running through this life, darling...like a field of snow.

For some reason in a lot of drinks I can taste the two seperate parts of the drink...

Which is why I can't stand fruity alcohol drinks usually, and why I can't appreciate sweet tea... even though the sugar is melted into the tea in southern sweet tea.

Beans. Gross.
I was just in Costa Rica and Nicaragua for four months, and had beans for about every meal. It's hard to force yourself to like something, but when you don't really have any other choice, and they just keep getting put in front of you... it grows on you. Also, a food called gallo pinto, which is beans and rice and grossness. But I'll eat it with cream cheese.

Hm... What i do is i ad things to the food i dont like and then slowly withdraw it until i get used to the ordianry taste.

An example waas me trying to get used to soy milk. Id put a little soy milk in a cup, and then id fill the rest up ith 2 percent milk until I completely got used to the taste by adding more soy milk and less 2 percent. Kinda Like the bean think kristinarr talked about how she can eat that one dish with sour cream..

For the green tea, experiment a little bit, people add a TON of different things into there teas, just experiment, you know? and when the time comes, start taking out all the stuff you put into it until you start really yiking the taste of the normal tea. But its tea, and this will probably take alot longer than most things since its so different.

For the mushrooms, i first got used to them by making a really yummy dish by making fried rice, cooking beef and pork strips and putting it ina bowl with seasoning an on top i would put mushrooms in a kind of shake and bake item and fried them up and it tasted GREAT! 4laugh

So experiment a little with your foods, j ust dont put anything in it you know you shouldnt lol.
