It was a lovely evening in the Kusini' lands, and the second oldest daughter of Harabu and Amani was enjoying the clear skies, setting sun, and cool breeze over the grasses. Of course, she had somehow managed to ditch momma, poppa sisters and brothers, a rather large feat when your immediate family reached to five plus two adult half-siblings.
The little purple and red and white lioness tumbled over a hill, giggling as if she didn't have a care in the world. At the bottom of the hill, she rolled to a stop, lying on her back to look up at the yellow and pink and purple colored sky. Sure, she liked having her sisters and Ihlo and Tota, but she really did want some friends that weren't related to her, friends she didn't HAVE to see every day and didn't fight with as much, but also more around her age than Ihlo and Tota.

As was normal, Akin had wandered any from his siblings to explore alone. He didnt see them often and prefered to spend his days off alone, with out them there to keep his attention he was able to get father and explore deeper into the lands of his family. Besides with 5 other direct siblings it was nice to get some alone time.
He was practicing what one of the older males had taught him, in order to get his skills better by the time he as grown. He was walking purposefully, head held high like he was the king of all that he surveyed. That was until a butterfly crossed his path.
He paused, and his tail flicked from side to side. He broke his stance and chased after the butterfly, eyes glewed on colorful wings and not looking where he was going.

It would be at that moment, that another butterfly would flit across Huruma's path. Now, she wasn't aware of the effect butterflies had on her family. In fact, butterflies had played a fairly strong role in the forming of said family, when looked upon in retrospect. But, her momma and poppa never really talked about the past, so Huruma didn't, couldn't know, that, her mother was often found chasing the insects, just as she did now.
She rolled over, jumped up, and took off after the minute flier, running as fast as she could until it flew to the other side of a hill. She didn't see it fly back up again, so she assumed it landed. She carefully stalked up the hill, quietly, dashed the last bit, and pounced. All intent had been on the butterfly she had been chasing. she had no idea that at that moment, another cub, one slightly younger than her, was chasing a butterfly of his own. At least, not until she pounced HIM instead, sending both tumbling head over paws.

Butterflies had played a part with his mother and father as well, and it seemed that they would continue to play a part in his as he grew. This day, it seemed the butterflies had deemed for him to made a new friend.
He let out a small squeek as he slamed into something soft and furry. Land became sky as he tumbled down the hill in a ball of paws and furr. When the world finally stopped turning he blinked and groaned, untangling himself from the stranger he had slammed into.
A little dizzy he wobbled from side to side as he stood but eventually let out a laugh and turned to look at the cub whom had rolled down the hill with him. Her colors where very vivid compared to his natural coloring. Her purple stood out on the brown grasses around them. "hey." he said after a moment.

Huruma blinked at the cub she had accidentally tackled and joined in his laugh. She was a little bit bigger than him, but was okay with that; this was the first boy she had met. And unlike what most little lionesses might have thought, she found boys just as fun to play with as girls.
"Hi!" she replied, hopping up and smiling cheerily at him. He was a duller color, kinda like her poppa and sister, only he had the color of the grasses on him, too. Basically, he was new and interesting.
"I'm Huruma, what's your name?"
And he had those cool things around neck and paws!!

(( *edits her last post to read the correct color, oops* XD ))
Akin grinned at her, a silly crooked grin that seemed to suit him and his unkept tussle of a mane just fine. He streched out, kneeding his paws against the ground to make sure everything was fine after the tumble. She was much bigger than him and his sisters, yet she was smaller than their mother.
"My Name is Akin." he said, puffing out his chest proudly. The little amulet around his neck bouncing off the dark fur. "Its nice to meet you Huruma." he nodded his head. She was so colorful! He thought pretty much everyone was the same color of dull browns and tawny creams. He hadnt seen someone with such a viberant color before. "wow... you're bright." it was a blunt statment, but said in awe.

Huruma watched Akin puff out his chest and giggled. He looked so cute doing that! Like a little lizard puffing up to make himself look bigger when faced with a predator or something.
"It's nice to meet you, Akin," she replied cheerily, bowing a little as her mother had taught her. She laughed at his bright comment, raised a paw, and looked down at it. "My momma's all white with blue and purple stripes and paws and my poppa is all black with red swirls on his behind and tail and on his eye, just like me," she explained, turning her head slightly so that he could see the crimson design beneath her left eye, something only she and her half-sister inherited.

Akin watched her as she turned to show off her markings. She had a really unique look to her, and he felt rather plain beside her. Yet he was nothing but himself and he couldnt change the color of his fur like the sky changed its colors through out the day.
"Thats cool, Its neat to have something special like that to carry on your family." he said with a nod. He himself was a mix of his mother and father. "My dad is brown like the Savanah grass and has a dark mane. My mother is tawny colored with pale body and slightly darker skin." His body color was like that of his dad's mane and his Hair and tail tip where like his mothers body coloring. He didnt have a mark like his mothers, but along his left leg a small X of lighter brown could be seen crossing over his fur.
"Do you live around here?" he asked, blinking at the question. Apparently he hadnt adventured very far in these lands if there where others so colorful as her!

"Mmhmm, yup!" Huruma replied, sitting down with a little plopping sound. She smiled and tilted her head a bit before looking over her shoulder at where she had come from, the direction back to where her family normally slept. In fact, she shouldn't stay away too long or her mummy would come looking for her and be upset. Well, not upset, but at least might not let her out of her sight for a couple of days.
She raised a paw and turned it over a bit in a somewhat off-hand gesture and shrugged. "My momma said Idu, Nuri, and Umi and me were born here, but wasn't sure if Ihlo and Tota and their other brother were," she replied, her ears perking up a bit at the talk of her siblings and kinda-siblings.

Akin nodded a little bit, so she had a large family too! That was cool, did everyfamily have a large amount of cubs at the same time? He blinked as he considered this and finally thinking the issue to complex shoved it from his mind.
His tail flicked from side to side as he watched he plop on the ground. He laughed and copyed her, only in the way he flopped he went down shoulder first and rolled over on his back so that he was now looking at her upside down. "Thats cool." he said with a bit of a nod.
He had come from over the hill and through a short grove of trees. Thats where his mom and siblings could often be found. Mother had treked across the Savannah to find father after they had parted ways, and they had found this place and their fathers home and family and it had been his home since then. "Have you ever been anywhere but here?" he asked.

Huruma smiled and tilted her head at an odd angle so that she could look at him somewhat straight, him being in that awkward position as he was. "Yeah, pretty much. My big sister Ihly sometimes takes me across the 'Comi to go exploring, but that's it," she told Akin with a giggle. She really liked going exploring with her older sister.
"Do you get to go exploring?" she asked, tilting her head to one side questioningly. She wasn't sure if other families had big brothers or sisters like hers did. She was old enough now to kinda understand that hers was kinda different. She understood that Ihly and Tota and their brother had a different mommy than she did, didn't quite understand why but realized that that was just the way it was. Of course, she had also learned that she didn't care that her big brother and sister were just her daddy's children, that they were and always would be her big brother and sister whom she loved very much.

Akin didnt have any older other brothers or sisters, his litter was his parents first and currently only for either of them. He had yet to encounter anyone whom had a family any differently than theirs and didnt really seem to understand that there could be any other way of life. His tail flicked softly as he looked at her, upside down and crooked as she was.
"I love to explore! You have been that far out?" he was in awe, he hadnt been allowed to explore much on their trek to this land, he was too small to know better or care at that point. Now he loved to explore, and he made it a point to go all over the place when he could. Alone time was the perfect time to explore, but he wasnt allowed to go very far. "One day I want to set out and explore the whole world." it was a wounderous dream for such a small cub.

Huruma nodded proudly over how far she had gone and grinned at him goal. "Me too! Momma said she and Poppa used to travel before coming here and I wanna see wond'rous lands, too! Maybe me and you can go exploring together sometime, and go really far when we get bigger," she suggested, grinning broadly at the idea. Exploring was fun, sure, but it was even MORE fun when you went with someone else, because then you had someone who could help you tell the story and you wouldn't get scared as much when there was someone else with you.
Sure, Akin was younger than her, but she really didn't mind. She had her sisters who were her litter-mates, and Ihly who was older and watched over them. Maybe now she'd get to watch over someone younger than her and make sure he didn't get scared, should they adventure together. Wait... Did boys get scared? She'd have to ask her poppa that.

"Really? You would?!" he was thrilled she would even mention the idea. The thoughts of what lay beyond the horrizon skipped in his head on a daily basis and she wanted to go with him some day! Maybe just maybe momma would let him go with her, because its safer in groups right? Thats why momma always wanted him near his brothers and sisters.
His tail flicked as he looked up at her, his mind swimming with ideas. He grinned from ear to ear, supressing such glee would take too much time and effort away from his day dreaming. "what do you think we'll see out there? when do you want to go, do you think your parents will let you go far?" he exploded with questions as his tail flicked from side to side, unable to contain itself. He was ready to leave right then, the idea of planning a journey never occured to him.

Huruma smiled at him, seeing him brimming with excitement at the thoughts of traveling the lands. "I donno. I thought maybe when I got a bit older I'd go. Like, when I'm able to hunt all by myself. I'm getting better," she explained, looking off towards the horizon.
"I think we'll see so many things that it'll take a million years to tell our mammas and poppas what we saw when we come back," she replied and looked back at him. She patted him on the head and grinned.
"And I think we can go exploring around here for a bit until we're older, okay?" she asked, sticking her tongue out a bit, comically. She was really starting to like this little fellow. She hoped that they'd be long-time friends.
