“I’ll go straight there: I’ll come straight home; I won’t talk to strangers” Aya recited with a cheeky grin, having heard the lecture close to a dozen times.
Fixing her daughter with a stern look, Guinevere crossed her arms defiantly. Perhaps she was being over-protective, especially considering Aya only wanted to go to the library; but, in this day and age, it seemed a parent could never be too careful.
“It’s not even that far, I’ll be back before you know it. I promise” the girl continued, her grin transforming into a solemn smile as she gave a decisive nod.
Sighing, Guinevere consented, knowing this was a battle she was fated to lose.
Squealing happily, Aya proceeded to hug her mother, and promptly passed straight through the woman.
“...Oh...yeah...” the child murmured, words tinged with suppressed sadness, “...I...I guess I forgot...”
Biting back the wave of bitter emotion, Aya forced a smile back on her face.
“Bye!” she exclaimed with a laugh, hurrying out the thankfully open door.
- - - - -
The interior of the library was quiet, and near-empty, much to Aya’s relief. The child had never much liked crowds, a feeling that had grown exponentially since her powers had manifested. Being able to pass through solid objects may have been a neat party trick, but it didn’t much aide one on the social front.
Tracing a hand along the front of the shelf, taking care to ensure her fingers always remained several centimetres away from the wooden constructions, Aya read through the titles, her sapphire eyes brightening as she came across one that seemed to be of particular interest.
Unconsciously, Aya’s hand darted forward as to seize the book, yet the object remained elusive.
“Damn...” the girl cursed, withdrawing her hand from the book and wriggling her fingers sadly.
Now what was she going to do?

Luna sighed as she flipped through another page of the book she was glancing at. She was attempting to get some information about the lunar cycles and if anyone else had the same ability as her. She was finding all sorts of stuff on the lunar cycle, just not quite the info or format she wanted.
She was soon distracted by a sensation. Her head came up as she tried to discreetly look around. Perhaps there was another scroll child near? Not surprising, really, considering where she was. It was just that this feeling meant scroll child, not familiar scroll child, meaning she hadn't met this one before. Perhaps they glowed like her? She hesitated, wondering if she should get up and go in search of them or not.
Hopefully, they could sense her like she could them.

The sensation was foreign, yet the unfamiliar feeling served a purpose, jerking Aya from the depths of her private struggle and, at least temporarily, refocusing her attention. With her research plans thwarted, the child felt there was little avenue left but to investigate the internal commotion, seeking the source of the undeniable and inexplicable pull.
Casting a final, forlorn look toward the bookshelf, Aya turned, heading toward the end of the row before making a sharp right – the pull seemed stronger in that direction. After making several more directional changes, each one leading to a exponential increase in the unusual sensation, Aya came to a sharp stop, the bizarre feeling reaching a crescendo before fading away; for, it appeared, the source of the pull had been found.
Regarding the girl cautiously, rather perturbed at having been drawn to her, Aya’s initial reservation soon faded as she started forward.
“Excuse me, but who are you?” the girl asked, the words polite yet retaining Aya’s inherent suspicion.

((o.0? *confused* Pull? *blinkblink* I thought they could just tell if there was another scroll kid nearby... ;>> Hm.))
Luna was about ready to give up and go find books on plants now - poison ivy plants in particular - when the sensation started getting closer. Eh? was all she managed to think before source came to her. She blinked up at the blonde girl and wondered for a moment what her ability was. She was interrupted by the other one talking. "Uh..." There was something stranger than normal about her, and Luna just could not find out what. That'd have to wait, unfortunately. "I'm Luna. Who are you?" She was quite curious about the other. She must be a scroll child, but what was her ability?
Maybe she glowed too?

((I'm sure they can, but Aya hasn't met any other scroll children since she grew, so I just assumed that she wouldn't quite understand what the sensation/pull was. Sorry if I confused you EE >.<))
“Aya” the girl replied with surprising cheeriness, her earlier doubts quickly evaporating. Smiling brightly, Aya quickly continued with her questioning. “So, why are you here? In this of all places?” the blonde asked quickly, motioning at the book-filled shelves around them. “Are you researching something? Or hiding? Or both? HEY! Are you a scroll child too? Is that why you’re here?” Aya spieled, her demeanour seeming to brighten even further.

O_O;
Whoa, could she lay on the questions. Of course, Luna was conveniently forgetting that she was like this when she was just a tad younger.
"Hi Aya. I'm here researching some topics that I found I didn't know as much as I thought I did. I didn't think I was hiding, but okay. Yes, I'm a scroll child. My scroll image was the moon, and I have a sister whose scroll image was a poison ivy plant. Which is why I'm here. I'm researching backgrounds on both." She was fairly certain she had answered all of them and then some by that point.
Now for a question of her own.
"So what's your scroll image?" Was that it? Luna thought, then had one more. "And why are you here?"

With a grin still plastered on her face, Aya listened, surprisingly attentively, as Luna methodically answered her questions. “Oh! You’re researching too! ....But, you seem to be having far more luck with it then me” the blonde girl commented, a note of sourness entering her voice despite her smile. “Anyway,” Aya continued, brushing the momentary unpleasantness aside, “why isn’t your sister researching her own background? Is she lazy or something?” the girl enquired, quirking an eyebrow curiously.
Half walking, half skipping, across the gap that separated them, Aya skittered to a quick stop and broke into a serious of amuse giggles. “Isn’t it obvious?” she asked, referring to Luna’s question as she casually swept a hand over her multi-coloured tunic. “My scroll image was a rainbow; at least, that’s what I’ve been told. And I came here to research too; but, well...” Aya trailed off, sighing as she realised a demonstration was in order. Lifting a hand, the girl reached for the nearest book, her appendage once more passing through the object. “Temporary memory lapse” the child commented with a shrug, grinning sheepishly.

"Well, I wouldn't know if my sister has already researched or not, I'm just wanting to know more about posion ivy since I live with one." Her eyes widened just a tad as Aya said what her image was. a rainbow? What does a rainbow do beyond look colorful. Her eyes went very wide as Aya's hand went through the book. "OOOOOOoooohhhhh..." Well, it was rather hard to touch a rainbow. Of course, that would also prove hard to go research. "Did you want me to help you research?" It was out before she had even thought about offering, but it was only good manners to offer.
Plus she might learn what Aya was researching.

“That makes sense, especially if she is anything like the actually plant” Aya conceded with a nod, suppressing a shudder at the sudden flood of memories. From what she could remember, she had only succeeded in burying her hand amongst the ivy, but that brief contact had been enough to stir a reaction in Aya, sending the girl into an itching frenzy. She had been a child then, still able to make contact with the world; thus, Aya had lost any fear the incident might have instilled.
Pushing the thoughts quickly aside, seeing that it didn’t do well to dwell upon the past, Aya dissolved into laughter as she gauged Luna’s reactions. “I guess it makes for a neat party trick, but that’s about it” the child commented, her spirits lifted significantly. Shaking her head and waving her hand dismissively, Aya quickly answered – “I was going to look up craft books, you know, jewellery making and the like, but I guess that falls into the impossible task category now”
“So, enough about me. Do you have a ‘neat-yet-excessively-annoying’ power too?” Aya asked curiously, tiling her head.

Luna grinned. "Her skin is green, there's vine patterns on her skin, and she has leaves growing from the top of her head." She shrugged at the next part, then re-offered, "If you want, you can show me what books you want to look at and I can open and turn the pages for you. I don't mind."
At the 'neat-yet-excessive' question, she managed a rather wicked grin. "If you want to see mine, we need somewhere dark. Know of a dark area we could go?" Just because you couldn't see the moon during the day didn't mean it wasn't there. It was always night somewhere in the world. "My ability coincides with the moon's phases. The fuller the moon, the brighter I glow, the smaller the moon, the dimmer I glow. It's something to see to believe." It was quite a shock to discover when she first started to glow. She would happen to start glowing when the moon was full, thus at her brightest.

Once more, Aya shook her head. “Thanks; but, even if I read the books, it isn’t like I will actually be able to make anything” the girl replied, ending her sentence with a weak laugh. Clearly, this conversation pained Aya, and, gratefully, the child leapt upon the subject change.
“Well, its dark if I close my eyes, but I guess that doesn’t really help” Aya mused, giggling at the foolishness of her own statement. “The library is sure to have a basement, or something, right?” the girl continued, glancing around for any sign of descending stairs. Shrugging, Aya turned back to Luna as the other scroll child offered a deeper explanation of her powers.
“You glow!?” Aya exclaimed, appearing both excited and confused about Luna’s powers. “So, what does that allow you to do? Besides act like a human-sized night-light?” the rainbow-child continued smiling, her question voiced out of innocent curiosity in spite of the seemingly the disdainful phrasing.

Luna raised an eyebrow. How often she had asked herself that. She shrugged before words managed to bubble up out of her. "I suppose I'm also a beacon of light to any lost ships out at sea. Assuming, of course, that I'm near the sea. Beyond that, I really haven't the faintest idea myself." Her lips twitched as she said that, a somewhat sarcastic tone hidden in her voice for the first part, exasperated resignation on the second.
She thought Aya's was much better than hers, personally. Ah well, one of those "the grass is always greener on the other side" moments, it seemed.

Rocking back and forth upon the balls of her feet, Aya nodded emphatically as Luna answered yet another one of her questions. Figuring her fellow scroll child must be tiring of her antics (despite the fact that Aya could continue to question indefinitely), a notion further cemented by the subtle, yet perceptible, changes in Luna’s demeanour, Aya quipped cheerily – “I’d take yours over mine any day”
Continuing to grin, Aya once more glanced around. “So, let’s go find this basement, archive, dark-place thing – okay? I want to see you glow”.
((Sorry this took so long EE, Christmas was crazy and I didn't have time to come online.))

((It's okay. I'm just having troubles chasing down a muse every time I want to rp... xp ))
"Maybe we can find a way to swap? I really like yours over mine," Luna admitted.
She looked around when Aya did, before glancing back at Aya and shruging. "Even if we did find the basement, do you suppose they'll let us down there?" She sounded just a tad hesitant. She really didn't want to get into trouble. Her mom might ground her from going out like she did her sister.

“Do you really think there is a way to swap?” Aya asked in a hushed whisper, clasping her hands together tightly as she struggled to contain her excitement. Ever since her powers had manifested, the rainbow child had envisioned ever elaborate fantasies on how to rid herself of the bothersome ‘gift’ and return to normal. So far, nothing had panned out. “Because that would be SO awesome! I’d be able to touch things, and make things, and eat things...not that I feel hungry, but still, and be NORMA-...” Aya rambled enthusiastically before trailing off, appearing momentarily downcast. “But that would mean you wouldn’t be able to do any of those things, and that just doesn’t seem fair...” the girl uttered with a dejected sigh, shaking her head.
“What they don’t know won’t hurt them? Right? Aya queried, gratefully forgoing the power-swapping conversation for the basement-finding one. “As long as we are sneaky and quiet, and don’t disturb anything, assuming we find a basement, no one will ever now. Now, come on!” the rainbow child surmised, motioning for Luna to follow as she crept through the shelves and toward the back of the library, after all, that’s where the basement would be – right?
