Casey rested her front paws on the trunk of a tree and stretched as far as she could trying to reach the leaves above her. In her experience the higher up the leaves the better they tasted and so she was determined to get at them. She would have climbed the tre but there was nothing to climb up on and the lowest branch was oo high for her to reach with her paws. "This isn't going to work." She mumbled to herself. She lowered her front paws back to the ground and peered up at the branches. The leaves blew in the wind as if to make fun of her perdicament(sp?).

Susano had been up in a tree, it had been often that he rested up on some of the median branches to keep hidden but to keep from the sun as well. He rolled his shoulders and yawned as he awoke from his mid-day nap. He sleepily opened his eyes and looked at the ground before spotting another dragonfly reaching up the side of a tree that had been next to the one he was in. She had different markings, but it occurred to him moments after he had been staring at it that most of the others he had met had different colorations. He looked at his own coat for a moment before he almost fell. He shifted his weight before looking back to the other Dragonfly.

"Excuse me, Are you looking for something up in that tree?" he spoke up before looking at the Dragonflies ears and structure, noticing it was was no it, but a female. He smiled as he waited for her to notice him. Her markings were intriguing to him, and he was beginning to believe she had been one of the most beautiful colored female he had met, hopefully her personality would intrigue him just as much.

Casey looked up towards the voice and was shocked to find a dragonfly sitting in the tree next to hers. She thought she had checked the area to make sure there were no other dragonflies around but in her haste she had forgotten to check in the trees. She inspected the dragonfly curious about it and wondering why it was sitting up there. When she remembered that it was a male dragonfly's voice that had spoken to her, her eyes grew large and she looked around rather quickly as if to make certain that there were no other dragonflies around that could have spoken before looking back at him. His question repeated itself in her mind and she took a deep breath to calm herself down telling her that her best friend was male and he couldn't possibly be the only male in the forest and that she had always known that. When she was calm again she smiled and looked up at the dragonfly. Unbidden a thought forced itself into her mind and a blush covered her cheeks making her hope that her fur would cover it up. He's so handsome. she thought to herself. She shook her head in an attempt to force away the thought and smiled again. "I was just trying to reach the leaves. The higher ones taste better." she told him trying to explain why she had been ignoring the leaves that were closer to the ground. She continued to smile at him but in her mind she criticized herself for taking so long to answer him. I probably look like an idiot. She grumbled in her head, but the blush did not go away and she found herself staring up at him.

Susano chuckled for a moment before wriggling around on his branch. He looked to the female and smiled, watching her inspect the surroundings before speaking back to him. He noticed a slight change of color in her fur but did not change his tone or mood, he did not want to embarrass the female more than he might have.

"I could jump over there for you, and get you some of the higher leaves if you would like?" he smiled and looked up at the tree he was in and then to the one next to it. It wouldn't be a easy, nor hard task, he was up to it, he had done it many times on his own occasion. Susano shrugged his shoulders, thinking for a moment. He wasn't sure if the female would allow him to help her or not. He looked her over again and smiled. My My she is gorgeous. he thought to himself before looking back up to think of a way to continue his conversation with this beaut. "But first, I must learn your name." he smiled as he looked back to the spotted female.

Casey stared at him feeling her cheeks burn even darker when her stomach growled right after he suggested helping her get the eaves. She tried to cover her stomach with her paws as if that would quiet the sound but it didn't. She hoped that maybe he wouldn't hear the growl and that it only seemed loud because her stomach was so close to her ears. She nodded at his suggestion. "That would be a great help." she said chuckling nervously. She looked up at the tree wondering if he would be able to get at the leaves without hurting himself but she thought that from where he was he might be able to get at them. "Casey. My name's Casey." She told him hurriedly when he asked her name. "What's yours?" in her mind she thought of all of the names that could belong to such a handsome dragonfly but none of them seemed good enough in her mind. Not only was he attractive but he was kind. She didn't understand the attraction because she had never felt it before having always thought of her best friend as a brother and his dad as her own father and so she pushed away the thoughts focusing instead on her hunger.

Susano nodded and looked down at his branch and stood on it with ease. He looked back down to Casey and smiled.

"What a beautiful name" He smiled before looking at the other branches, trying to find the safest one to leap off of.

"Name's Susano." He looked around more before finding the branch he was going to leap off of. He looked at the other tree for a moment, finding the perfect branch to land on, it didn't look too flimsy, but it didn't look too old either. It was perfect. He began leaping from branch to branch, trying to get the the branch he saw on the tree he was in. He reached the branch with ease before looking back to Casey. He gave a warm smile and looked back to the branch he was going to land on and focused for a moment before leaping to it.

He landed just right. He grasped the branch while it shook to keep himself on the branch, and not pummeling to the forest floor. As the branch stopped shaking he lifted himself and looked at the leaves in the tree before noticing a flimsy branch that had the greenest leaves in the tree. He smiled and lept to the branch that had been next to the flimsy one. He opened his maw and bit down on the flimsy branch before shaking his head and tearing it from the tree. He tried to smile with the small branch in his maw but he wasn't too sure that it was apparent. He lept down a couple branches before looked to Casey and tried to speak to her.

"Herrrree wey cowme" he tried to make it as audible as he could, but wasnt sure if Casey would understand. He dropped the branch to the floor and smiled.

"Those good enough?" he smiled and watched from the branch he had dropped the smaller branch from and waited to see if they were okay.

Casey smiled nervously up at him letting his name sink into her brain so she wouldn't forget it. Susano matched him perfectly for it was a very handsome name indeed. When he started jumping from branch to branch her heart beat widely terrified that he would fall and she started thinking that maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. She wondered what he was doing when he smiled with the branch in his mouth. She saw his lips curl away from the branch baring his teeth but it took her awhile to figure out that he was indeed trying to smile. She smiled back up at him relieved that he had gotten the branch without slipping and falling. She chuckled at his attempt to talk with the branch still in his maw; she was so relieved that in her mind even the smallest thing seemed funny. She sniffed at the branch when he dropped it down to her and smiled back up at him."It's perfect!" she announced, "Come on down, there's enough for us to share." she told him. He looked like he was at home in the trees but a part of her was still worried that he would fall and hurt himself.

Susano chuckled and wriggled his tail before looking back at the tree he had been laying in earlier. It had lower branches, and it was much safer to leap down from. He carefully lept from one branch to another like he had done to get the branch of leaves until his paws safely reached the grass of the forest floor.

"Tada!" he said with a big smile. He looked at the leaves and then to Casey.
"I'm fine, I get my fill earlier in the morning, and later at night. Those are for you." He smiled and blushed lightly, although it might have been difficult to see under his dense brown fur.

"Been around here long?" He asked as he settled himself on the ground. He leaned back on his hind haunches and wrapped his tail around his side. He looked over Casey, smiled, and blushed again, he turned his head momentarily to get over the heat in his cheeks.

Casey let out a sigh of relief when Susano landed safely on the ground. Her blush deepened again when he said the leaves were just for her and she quickly stared down at the leaves afraid that he would see her blush. She didn't even notice his blush. "Thank you." she said in a voice much higher than she had meant for. She held the branch down with her paw and pulled at the leaves with her mouth to get them off of the branch before eating them. "I just came to this area today." she told him after chewing and swallowing a mouthful. "I usually den further east with my friend's family but I decided to go exploring today. Have you been here long?" she asked curious to learn more about him. Her stomach was fluttering and at first she had attributed it to the hunger but she was eating and it was still doing it so she thought that maybe by focusing on something else she could make it go away and so she focused on him.

Susano lowered his head in a bow form before lifting his head and watching her eat. He listened to her words and smiled before shuffling his legs a little.

"Well I am glad you came around. I have been so lonesome, I rarely see any in these parts, I have no one to share the tops of the tree's leaves with." He made a pouty face at her and then gave a big grin.
"So how are those leaves tasting?"His eyes gleamed in the sun as he spoke. "Long, here...I am afraid so. I had wandered before, but I actually was in a tree and fell quite a way down, hurt my back ankle I did..." he stood up and wrigged around his back right leg before looking back to Casey.
"It's healed now though, it just needed some rest." He lowered his hind haunches into a sitting position and looked back at the leaves he had gotten for her.

'My...She is prettier up close...' He thought to himself as he looked her over once more.

"You've been lonely?" Casey asked in a murmur. She paused in eating the leaves to think about what it would be like to have no other dragonflies around. She had been with her friend's family most of her life and barely remembered what it was like before she had met them, but even though she was close to them she had longed for the closeness her friend shared with his sister and for the familiararity with which his mom spoke of their other mom. She had felt a little bit of loneliness for someone that understood her better than anyone else but she didn't think it would be anything like the overwhelming loneliness she would feel with no dragonflies being there at all. She laughed when he made a pouty face and smiled at him pushing away the thoughts that had been occuping her mind. "The leaves are delicous, thank you!" she exclaimed as she ate the last of the leaves leaving only two. She considered eating them so they wouldn't be left sitting there but her stomach was now feeling comfortably full. She looked at his ankle when he said that her had hurt it and was relieved that it looked okay now. She would have felt horrible if he had fallen when he had been getting her leaves and had hurt himself again. She smiled at Susano, "Are you going to be leaving now that your ankle is healed?" She asked. She thought she was starting to get one of those crush things she had heard other dragonflies taking about but she told hersel she was just being silly.

"Yea..." Susano gave a soft sigh and looked up at the trees. "These are the only things to have been keeping me company..." He looked back to Casey and smiled.
"You'll be around though right..?" He gave an eager laugh before wagging his tail around in the dirt some. He thought about the trees and how they kept him company in the least. He knew that one thing was sure, staying in the area for such a long time gave him time to think, and also teach himself more discipline. He looked at the two that had been left and smiled. "Well I am glad you like them. I was actually hoping I could share them with someone today. I was waiting on those, they took the longest time to show that color green." He winked at her before looking to the final two. "You full now..?" He smiled before listening to her ask if he was going to leave.
"Actually...I am quite fond of this place..I was thinking about wandering again...But I think I like these trees, they have become my home. From what I have heard in my travels, most dragonflies reside in dens, but these tree's have sheltered me while I couldn't make one, and so I have become accustom to them." He was going to leave, to find some company of his own, but he had found some already, there was no need to wander any longer.

Casey thought about his question of whether she would stay or not. She looked up at the trees, they were sturdy ones capable of easily supporting the weight of dragonflies and there were enough leaves to feed a few dragonflies for awhile. It was a beautiful place and even if there was no den nearby it would be a beautiful place to live. And with Susano there the trees would be even more beautiful. She started to respond to his question but with him being there it seemed like her responses to everything was slower. She kept staring at him and then realizing she was staring and look away only to find herself staring again. Before she knew it he was on to the next question. She nodded at the leaves. "Yeah, I'm full. Thank you, they were delicious." She criticized herself for repeating herself. Casey tried to think of what the chances were that she had come to the trees on the day he had wanted to share them with someone. She was glad that it had been her who had wandered here though. "Yeah, I'll be here." she finally said. It wasn't until after she had spoken that she realized she had missed the last thing he had said. It seemed like he had mentioned wandering. She wanted to stay near him even if he did leave and so she wondered how close would be too close but she thought that any further than eye sight would be too far for her. "Susano, why were you wandering? Don't you have any family waiting for you?" She was curious to find out if he had any ties to other dragonflies that might not want her nearby.

Susano gave a faint chuckle as he watched her. He looked her over, she was beautiful, no matter if she stumbled on her words. He smiled and watched her for a moment.

"Well I am glad you'll be around. You're a fine lass and I would hate to never see you again." He gave a light bow and lifted his head, a red hue tainted his cheeks, but it would be hardly noticeable unless someone was close enough to feel the heat rise from his cheeks.

"As for family, they left me in the care of some elder, that ran off when I was only a few months old, I was able to take care of myself, but it was hard. I am here today though and that's what counts, am I right m'dear? And as for any others, I have met some on my travels, but none, I can assure you as interesting as you" he gave a sly smile and walked to the stump of one of the trees he had climbed in earlier and lobbed his body weight against it, sliding down to a resting position. The tree shook a bit and a few loose leaves fell to the ground.

"And you, do you have a particular someone waiting on you?" He had really enjoyed her company and wished to bask in it as long as he could. She was someone whom he felt at ease with and it was not a usual occasion.

Casey listened to Susano's words feeling her cheeks growing hotter every moment. She criticized herself for reading too much into his words but still found herself smiling brightly as she debated in her mind whether or not it would be possible for him to like her. "You seem to have turned out none-the-worst-for-wear." she told him after listening to things he had gone through. She stretched her paws out in front of her and then moved to sit nearby where he had moved to. "Grew up with a friend I met as a pup but I told them I wouldn't be back any time soon so they're not really waiting for me. Melyor gave such a fuss though when I left, sometimes I almost wish she was really my mom. I've been with her so long she might as well be. I never met my real parents. I woke up one day in nest of leaves and it was shortly afterwards that Lindell's family adopted. I'm sure I used to remember my parents, but I don't anymore." Casey looked at the ground for a moment and then smiled at Susano again. There was no use being worried about something she couldn't remember. "Have you seen a lot of nice places in your traveling?"
