She hadn't listened to them; how could she? They'd brought her there and had suddenly decided she just wasn't good enough! So rude! Uncalled for! Alcyone fumed as she padded up and down the small patch of land; after Nuka and Anana's warning, she hadn't felt right leaving; in fact, every fibre of her soul and body demanded that she stay and take up that stupid 'date' as a challenge. Fact was... another smaller part of brain was telling her that MAYBE, just maybe... the two cheetahs had been right, and this would mean suicide. So thus the pacing; up and down, up and down. She'd flattened the grass around her form with all her pacing, but she'd been unable to do otherwise. Leaving was jut not in the schedual; she was a princess, and she'd see this through. That in mind, she stopped pacing and began to pad off to her right; not even the slow setting sun, hidding behind the distant trees seemed to hault her.

Uovu, much like Alcyone, had been pacing; albeit for entirely diferent reason. He was both bored and irritated. Actualy, today he was more irritated than he was bored, which was a bad sign. He'd not managed a kill for days now; oh, he'd hunted, and he'd eatten, but truthfuly, he needed a diferent kind of kill. He'd been too busy tracking down his daughter (or rather, attempting to) to bother with the killing. In a way, the roles had been inverted the last few days, and he didn't like it one bit. Anana was up to something, he knew that much, and he wanted- No, NEEDED to know what it was. She had her mother's mind, and his own impulses, which made her a soul to take into account. Always the little warrior; Uovu was sure she'd have been able to take on a lion had the situation presented itself, without a need to place one bloody paw on the brute. So immersed in his thoughts was he that he entirely missed Alcyone walking towards him from a distance. Later on, he'd kick himself mentaly for it, no doubt.

They'd told her to watch herself around him; they'd told her to be careful. And so careful she was. Frowning mildly, the small female kept the the form that paced in the distance within vision; he seemed much too ocupied with... whatever it was he was thinking to really give a DAMN she was there though. All the better, she thought as she strode closer and closer. The sooner she proved those two cheetah wrong, the sooner she could leave, and get on with her extremely busy life. A princess had better things to do than mingle with such scoundrels, she thought to herself as Uovu's figure got clearer and clearer, even in the dimming light the setting sun had to offer. It was only after she arrived on scene that she finaly lifted her head and spoke out loud, her eyes heavy lidded as she attempted to look down at him; needless to say she failed miserably, for he was much taller than she was. Her form had always been rather lithe, even for an adult, "Good evening, sir... I've come to go out on a date with you."

He never saw her coming. Never. At all. And thus as soon as she spoke, Uovu found himself jumping a good half a meter off the ground, frame set in a defensive pose, maw open into a silent snarl as he set his ears back. The stance was dropped instantly though, in the favour of sheer confusion at her words; she wanted WHAT? With HIM? Was this girl ******** insane? Or better yet, did she have a DEATH wish? Uovu swiftly decided it must've been both, however, what with the way she carried herself, head held high, sweet visage held in a tilted manner under the setting sun... well, he figured she must've been oddly delusional too. Who did she think she was? Princess of the savvanah? Oh, but he wasn't going to actually say such a thing; he wasn't going to make a face at such a delightful chance! Lifting his head up to the moon that was only starting to shine in the night sky, he smirked, "Beggars can't be chosers," came the breathed murmur before he turned his flashing gaze towards her; oh, this one wasn't young, but she'd do, he though as he took a step forward, his tongue coming out to lick his chomps, "Date? How about dinner?"

It was at that precise moment that Alcyone decided she'd made a serious mistake; one she wasn't entirely sure was worth making in order to save her ego and pride a blow. Taking a step back as he took one forth, she lithe creature gulped down saliva, "A date," she reassured him, her tail twitching earnestly behind her, "But I think we should rather skip dinner; a walk under the moon and stars would be..... much better," she'd hesitated, for it was only then that he'd turned to face her and entered a particular patch of light that she'd been able to get a glimpse of his face. Now, Alcyone wasn't particularly vain - Well, she was, but not entirely so; at least not enough to shove and wave someone away just because they had burnt skin. Not if she fell in love. However, something, a baser instinct no doubt, was telling her that she wasn't going to fall in love with this one, and thus not grimacing over his skin was pointless. She might was well. So she did, "Ummm... although on second thought, you might be a bit busy, so I might just let myself to the exit, and try another day," she didn't turn around though, but rather, kept on padding back as he padded forward.

He was amused. Of this there was no doubt; in fact, on a scale of 1 to 10, Uovu would have given this little activity a nice 9. There were few things that could surpass the feeling and looks of terror he saw in his victims when he approached. It was like an adrenaline rush... without the need to put himself in danger, of course, which was always a plus, "Now, now; can't walk on an empty stomach, can we?" he whispered back at her, his head held low. He'd seen the grimace that had crossed her features, smirking wider, a bit more eeriely at it when he'd seen it. It was only making him want to advance with more force on her. He held back though, for now. There was no fun in the kill if there was no chase. The chase was the best part. Of course, he'd not even paused to figure out why this female was here, or where she'd even come from; who cared? Fact was, she was there, and she was his. For now, everything was going his way and it was bloody spectacular, "No.... Oh no, no leaving, girl. Signed a contract here, haven't you? Want your date? You're getting your ******** date," and this said, he pounced with a snarl, jaws open.

Had Alcyone not been white pelted, she'd have paled; in fact, she was sure that the pretty little black mask she wore had paled down to a light grey as he spoke. His voice was sinister, blood curling even, and she swiftly decided she didn't like it. Not one bit. In fact, she swiftly decided she wished she was anywhere but here. ANYWHERE would do; just not here, not with him. The back of her mind chanted the warning Nukpana and Anana had given her, hissing at her for being so innocent, so naive so PRIDEFUL as to seek out someone they'd both warned her about. She'd have had it no other way though, she thought to herself with a frown; her pride was too strong, and her ego too large. She knew herself, and she was going to make this same mistake, again and again and again less she start thinking ahead; she was used to rushing into things without thinking. At times it was a good thing... at others, not so good. She was slowly learning that the world wasn't the nice little blob of pink she'd made it out to be since she was young. As the male pounced, Alcyone's eyes grow wide; her maw opened into a gasp before she skidded out of his way. It paid to have such a lithe, elastic form... however, right now she'd have given up her metaphorical kingdom for some strength and bulk, "Stay AWAY, brute!" she squealed rather awkwardly as she began to run away from him.

Ah, but Uovu would have none of that; he'd miscalculated his jump, but it wouldn't happen again. Snarling, he gave her chase, "Not in your DREAMS, sweetheart!" he snapped right back, his neck outstretched; his whiskers were just milimeters away from the tip of her tail as they ran; for every time she skidded and diverted her path, he followed, milimeters away, eyes wide, maw open as he attempted to snap his jaws over her tail. He was larger than her; as soon as he was near enough, he'd pounce and he'd take her down. He chuckled inside as chased after her. It was only a matter of time.

Running was giving her little to no results; he seemed to be giving her chase quite deftly indeed. The more she ran... the more he followed. Oddly frustrating, if not terrifying. Skidding to her left, the small female dived into a small opening in some bushes, letting the sticks and leaves grace her pelt, hoping it'd stop his persuit. But instead, it stopped hers; she came to a dead end... large baobabs blocking her way, thorn bushes around them, and up ahead.... that sinister male, running closer and closer. She pressed her back against the trunk of the tree and watched him close the distance, no longer running now... but instead padding. As if he had no rush, "Oh God," she whispered lightly.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2007 3:27 am

And rush he had not. In fact, as soon as she'd dived into the bushes, he'd slowed his pace; he'd been living in this particular area for a few days now, and he was smart enough to know she'd signed her death warranty the moment she'd dived into cover. It was a dead end. Padding nearer, taking extreme care to slow each and every one of his steps, Uovu lowered his head, eyes narrowed in the moonlight, "He ain't gonna save you now, sweetheart..." he breathed right back as he dived for her.

Sutekh wasn't particularly used to padding around at night; not really. He much prefered daytime. for one, he could actualy SEE where he was going, and for two, well... there were more pretty girls out about in the day. That said, nighttime had it's ups too; his pelt made him practicaly invisible when the moon came out, and for that, he was grateful. As it was, he'd spent the day flirting with a random lioness, and thus had been unaware just how late it was getting till the sun had begun to set. There was no harm in some flirting, both of them had known that, and had thus parted ways with a good-bye that would doubtlessly last forever; he wanted no long-term relationships. Just a flirt here and a smile there; that's all he believed in. For now however, Su was more interested in findding a meal; he needed food before he got back to travelling the following. It was thanks to that that he stumbled across a particularly.... interesting scene. It was the scents that had tipped him off first; fear was in the air, hormones, sweat; it was rather intoxicating. The screams convinced him that something was wrong, and the sight up ahead as he followed the scents... forced him into action. Moving swiftly, the male jumped over the thorn bush that had been trapping the female, diving into the attacker in an attempt to shove himse away, "Can't take a no for answer, buddy?!" the words were snarled as he flattened his ears and charged again, his maw open.

Another scream was released as Uovu charged for her, her arms coming to shield her face. However, the impact never came; instead, when she dared open her eyes, she saw a dark figure rush forward, ramming it's frame into that of the other male. Gasping, alcyone could only watch in silent horror as both mals dove, snarled and aimed for eachother.

Had it been any other night, Uovu would have pondered staying, just for the fight, however, as his calculating gaze lowered to peek behind the large frame of the dark pelted cheetah, he decided that the female was not young enough to warrant him having to fight for her... and that the night was still young. That and the fact he still had no idea where Anana was spurred him to snarl and turn around, giving the other male a dark look, "I'll find myself another," he murmured, "You can keep her; wasn't my type anyhow," and this said, he calmly left the scene, having half a mind to track someone else down. Someone whom wouldn't have a bloody bodyguard.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2007 3:31 am

Snorting, Sutekh watched the other male retreat, his eyes narrowing. There had been a clear threat in his voice... in his words; he didn't doubt he'd find another one, but then again... that wasn't his responsability. He'd saved this one; he'd done his good deed for the month. He couldn't care less what the other male did, so long it wasn't done before his very nose, "You alright there, girl?" he turned his head to regard the lithe thing; her frame was shaking, her ears had dropped and her eyes were so wide that Sutekh was half sure she was in some odd state of shock, "Come on now, toots, I'll take you somewhere safe, kay? Then we can have some dinner; I needed a hunting partner anyhow, join me?" he got no answer from her and so he lowered his head and lifted her off the growun, smiling as best as he could, "Come on now, he's gone; I'll take you away from here before leaving on mah journey, seem good?" The food she'd help him catch and the warm body to cuddle against for the night were payment enough, he thought as he smirked, opening a way in the bush as best as he could for her to pass through.

She allowed herself to be led away by the male, her eyes still wide from the near-death experience. She forced herself to gulp down salive, following him through the bush; that was the last time, she thought, the LAST time she was ever listening to someone about a blind date. Never again, she thought as she kept her body pressed against that of the black pelted male; any other day she'd have sneered at the scruffy looking boy that padded alongside her, for she was a princess after all! But not today. She was in a state of shock. For now... she'd let herself be led away from the nightmare and this place.
