+*~Gothic & Lolita Bible~*+ +*~update 26.02.08~*+ Hello ladies! So the long antispitated wait is over and the Tokyopop release of the bible is now avaliable in shops, what do you all think? Whats your opinion on the who layout and set up of the magazine? I personally think some of the Japanese to English translation from the older bibles is cheating a bit but it's nice to know what they were saying!
Lets discuss and talk about it, maybe see what could be done to make it better? Oh and please no snotty, demeaning, elitist or insensetive comments about other members or just general meaness. Lets make this a nice convosation rather than one member ranting at the other.
Thanks ladies! (oh and I apologise for the backwards date, eg: 26th.02.08. It's how we do it in England o.O)
Thanks to Tekkonkinkreet for giving me this information. The bible can be pre-ordered on the Tokyopop website for $20, or can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com for $14.
+*~update 03.01.08~*+ I have uploaded my photos from the Kana shoot I did with her!

Good on you for having your photography put into the translation! I'm sad to say that the other previews and promotional material aside from that that TokyoPop has put out for the G&LB has not really inspired a lot of confidence, though. =/

I hope it'll be a little cheaper than the imports of the original are... I end up getting a bundle a year from a friend who has a cousin who lives over there instead of monthly, as, good as it is, it's not worth £18 ($35-40) an issue eek

I can't help but wonder how close they will stay to the Japanese version, will they show brands and things to get in America (aside from violet candy),or ones from Japan or both, will they be showing both Gothic and Lolita clothing,or just lolita alone.Guess I'll just have to wait and see like everyone else.

lol I couldn't possibly know the answers to your questions! I am pushing for Lolita stuff in the UK to be published too as there are fans worldwide, and America will ALWAYS have coverage on shops and brands in the US where as the UK has nothing, and Sai Sai has much better brands in with amazing lace! It really needs to be known (:
If there is someone in the US who is willing to dedicate themselves and offer ideas constantly, like I am for the UK, then you might just make a difference!

The US's community has kind of gotten shafted by TP in terms of actual talking and confidence. This was brought up recently because of their showing at NYAF with their fashion show and panel. They failed to contact a lot of very active members in the community even though they offered phone numbers and addresses, had sort of shunted those that they did contact to one side until the last minute [like those in the fashion show not knowing where, when, or what they were supposed to do for it until the last minute], and have generally done a less than great job in keeping everyone up to date with what they're doing. In particular, they've done a lot of blind groping around, convention trawling, and little in the way of actual good.
I really wish they'd get their act together and maybe put on a more professional attitude. For such a large and well-established company, they really suck at correspondence, it looks like. At least when it comes to those in the United States versus the UK.

So far this looks fairly decent. I guess we'll have to see when the final product is out though.

They're supposed to be having a cosplay section in the book as far as we've heard from the details. Besides that, Michelle Nyugen is like, the ONLY person with some actual sense about Lolita compared to all these other articles from TP that we've read.
