I'm with Kotakus group.
In sort the university that does this wants help with it. They figure if they give the program out and a lot of people do this, they can achieve their goal a lot faster, then having their so many computers do it.
Folding@Home can also be downloaded for a computer *MAC, Linux, and Windows are supported*. I even have this on my PC.
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQif you want to learn more go there. It's a little complex at first, but it's pretty simple. In short you fold proteins or whatever that should be able to help scientists find out how stuff like Cancer, or Alzheimer's work so they can find ways to cure it.
