This is more or less my introduction post. I don't much believe in an introduction that doesn't display what part of fandom you'll contribute to, so here I am with fanfiction. Enjoy. ^_^

Title: Curiosity

Pairing: Lee/Gaara

Rating/Warnings: G really, some weirdness but that's Lee for you.

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto; I'm just playing in Gaara's sandbox.

Summary: Gaara's curious about what Lee thinks.

Lee absently traced his thumb around the edge of the mark that lined Gaara's right eye and smiled. Gaara looked up at him in that amazingly blank manner that still managed to convey a question. Lee just continued to brush his thumb over the ring and waited for his lover's secret curious nature to get the better of him. After another minute of the soft rubbing, Gaara sighed.

"What are you doing?"

"I was just thinking of how the marks made you look…"

Gaara blinked slowly, "I've been told they're unnerving with reasons ranging from 'it's just another way I resemble a demon' to 'makes my stare look like a basilisk's.'"

Lee blinked at the rather unflattering comments. "Oh."

Gaara tilted his head, "Does my stare unnerve you?"

Lee hesitated slightly, unable to declare a bold 'No', as much as he wanted to. Mainly because to be honest, and he always was, Gaara could make him nervous with just a look.

"Well…occasionally it can be disconcerting."

The frown on Gaara's face did not bode well. "I don't want to make you nervous. I would never harm you." he looked away and Lee cursed to himself.

"No, no," Lee soothed, pulling Gaara closer and turning his head to their eyes met, and smiled, "Gaara, I've never been afraid of you and I never will be. I know you would never hurt me. It's just-"

"I make you nervous." Gaara stated flatly.

Lee sighed, "Yeah, sometimes, but not because of fear. Gaara sometimes when you look at me it's so direct, intense… Like you can see through everything, maybe right down to my soul. I get nervous because it's just so much and I wonder if I'm really good enough and, if not, how I can make myself better, stronger, faster, anything to be a bit more worthy of you."

Gaara stared at Lee a long moment, "If anyone should feel unworthy, it should be me. I don't deserve what I have with you." He turned back to stare out the window again.

Lee was about to protest but Gaara spoke again. "I don't deserve it, but I have it and will not deny it. It's ridiculous to worry about worthiness or measuring up to one another. Better to just enjoy it."

Lee smiled and kissed the pale temple and turned Gaara to drop a kiss on each dark eyelid. "By the way, I don't think the marks are scary."

"So you mentioned…"

Lee waited with a smirk pressed to Gaara's neck as the Kazekage resettled himself with his back pressed solidly against Lee's chest. "…Then what do you think of them?"

Lee's smile widened, "Oh, I think they're cute."

Few people could say they'd seen Gaara of the Desert whirl around in surprise; fewer still were alive to tell about it.

"Cute?" the minuscule inflection on the word was about as close to an incredulous outburst as Gaara ever got. His eyes, however, were wonderfully wide and confused.

Adorable, Lee thought fondly. "They remind me of a panda." He explained and Gaara's eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"Panda?" he echoed.

"Mmm, yeah. It's a bear found in the mountains that border the Fire Country. Large black and white bears with rings around their eyes."

"The marks of Shukaku remind you of bears." Gaara intoned flatly.

"Really, really cute bears…that eat bamboo."

Gaara studied Lee incomprehensibly for another moment. "You are strange." He finally declared with the grave attitude of a man who had uncovered life's mysteries and settled himself back against Lee.

Lee smiled against his neck and counted silently.

"Lee."

"Hmm?"

"What's bamboo?"

Gaara turned around to give his lover an annoyed glare that would have sent anyone else in Sunagakure running, Lee only laughed harder and hugged Gaara close.
