Zuri had kept up with her oath so far with her sister. She had been taking a bit more of an active role with her children, but it still didn't seem to be enough for Tahari. What was she doing wrong? She tried to figure it out for a while, but at some point she decided to just ask her blue daughter herself.

She managed, finally, to catch Tahari on her own, away from the rest of the family. Rare, since she almost never left the side of someone, whether it be Ashling or Bara.

"Tahari, could I speak with you for a moment?" she asked, coming up from the route that was normally taken from this spot to the den.

Tahari had known for a while that this talk would come. She could tell that her mother kept a closer eye on her now, and Tahari tried to ignore it by spending more time with her aunt and her new friend, that white hyena. But evaiding things only lasted for so long, because they would return quite quickly to pounce on you.

"Yes, Mother?" she called out, a hint of exhasperation in her voice. She really didn't want to talk to her mother right now, for she wasn't in the best of moods. She had been 'dating' a boy without her parents consent, and he had suddenly cut it off last night, after such a short amount of time. Tahari was one to date males, but she'd never let them get anywhere serious, and they'd leave her. Typical. She mentally snorted at the thought as she kept her gaze away from her mother.

"Tahari," she repeated, wanting her daughter to look at her. Why...did she seem upset? Was there something wrong? What was she missing?

She padded around to get a bit of a better look at her daughter, only to see her turn away a bit more. "Tahari, what's wrong?" She seemed upset about something, and whatever it was was obviously bugging her. Tahari was normally very chipper, always shoving her emotions in the back of her mind while trying to make sure that everyone else was happy. So this was...strange, to say in the least.

"I can tell that something is wrong, would you at least humor me and let me know what's on your mind?" she asked again, pestering her sky-coloured daughter again.

Ugh, what was she doing? Tahari really didn't want to deal with her right now. Were mothers always this nosey? Aunt Bara sure wasn't, maybe that was why she liked her more than her own mother.

She huffed, "No, Mother, I'm fine. It's stuff that you wouldn't understand anyway." Not that she knew that it was true, but hey, she was a teenager. Of course she knew everything about everything. It was a good thing that her seer powered still slumbered silently within her, or else she'd use those vision to her advantage at her mother.

She sighed. "I'm just so tired of living like we do, Mother. I can't seem to make a friend outside of the family." Of course, that might work better if Tahari stopped flirting with the wrong boys.

Why did girls always use that line? The 'you wouldn't understand' comment had been used for probably eons when girls didn't want to talk to their mothers about things, but honestly, she had been that young once, and been through enough herself, so why wouldn't she be able to understand? Aggrivation filled her mind, but she chose to ignore the comment said, so that it wouldn't create more strife between the two of them. She could cattily say 'just try me', but Zuri was trying to be a responsible, yet understanding parent now.

"You're a beautiful lady, Tahari, there is no reason why you can't make a friend. We've lived here long enough that you should have plenty of opportunities to make friends." She didn't want to say that they were probably going to move soon, somewhere where Zuri never wanted to return. To her original home.

Tahari felt like her mother still didn't understand. In fact, Tahari probably wouldn't understand anything until she was older, and had children of her own to deal with. It seemed like that was the cycle that would never end.

She rolled her eyes at her mother, but made sure that she wouldn't be able to see that. No use in fighting over something else that was really stupid. "Really, Mom? Because sometimes I feel like there's no way I'm ever going to make a friend, what with how you always keep me under such a tight leash and all." She knew it was a lie, but a piece of her wanted to see just what her mother would say to something like that. Would she fight it? Would she just swallow it up?

Mattering on what she would do, Tahari would be able to judge just how much she would be able to get away with now, instead of when she was just a cub.

Zuri couldn't help but feel like she wasn't getting anywhere with Tahari. What else was she supposed to do? She gave up on being the super motherly type for a moment, and decided to tell her daughter straight up what she wanted, and the more that she needed to know about herself.

"Look, Tahari. There's a lot of things that the two of us haven't told you," she began, choosing not to look at Tahari as she spoke. "But the future looks grim for the both of us, and I need you there to help back us up, alright?" It was a bit broad, really, and she didn't give out details, but there was obviously something that was going to happen, not too far in the future.

Her gold eyes searched for her daughter's green ones, making sure that she understood what she meant.

Tahari's green eyes narrowed as she glared at her mother again, feeling frustration rise within her again. What, so she couldn't be trusted? Was that what her mother meant? She felt hurt, though, because if Aunt Bara couldn't tell her, then maybe it really was something dangerous. But danger was always what she was told, and she had hardly seen any danger at all!

"So? What am I supposed to believe? That there's some big scary thing out there looking for us? We're always laying low, I don't understand why. I don't look anything like you, no one would be able to realize that I was your daughter. Only Ruka did, and she's gone. You lost her, Mom, and we'll never see her again."

Her tone turned into a near hiss, still bitter about that. Sure her other two sisters were still around, but RUka was the only orange coloured daughter, the white seeming to come out of no where. All Mother said about their father was that he was a large white lion. Hardly anything to go off of.

Zuri's face exposed the pain, yet again. It seemed that no one would forgive her for the disappearance of the orange girl, and she knew better then to even beg for it. She would never recieve it, not from Tahari. Why did she hate her so? Perhaps she had not been the best mother, but she was trying to make it up to her now! Zuri sighed. It was too late, as Bara had always told her.

"Tahari," she started again, slowly. "There is. We never told you about home, because it is a horrible place."

She sighed. Would she really have to tell her now? She didn't want to, but perhaps if it would give something for the rebellious teenager to chew on, it might be worth it. Hoepfully she wouldn't run straight to Bara and ask her about it. But if she did...well, what was she to do? Tahari was going to find otu eventually, wasn't she?

Horrible? Horrible?! Tahari highly doubted that. THIS was horrible, everything that she had to deal with now was horrible. Horrible horrible! She gave another small snarl, still not believing anything comgin from her mouth.

"Horrible? Dearest Mother, I highly doubt that anything you had to go through was horrible!" she cried, wanting to take a swipe at her mother. No! She was so sick of seeing her face! She never wanted to see her again. No, there was no way that she was her true mother. Again her mind filled with her fantasy that Bara was her real mother, there was just some mix up or something.

Zuri had had it. Tahari wasn't ever going to think of her in any other light, right? So she'd teach her just what horrible was.

The lioness snarled, leapt up at Tahari to pin her down. Once she had the moment of surprise, taking down the smaller lioness was easy. It wasn't like she didn't deserve it, anyway.

"You don't know anything about horribe yet, Tahari," she said, dripping with fury. "Just wait until you are told to go find your sister, the one you admire, and are told to kill her, or you will lose your life as well. That is what's horrible. Since I have 'failed' in my task, we are certain that our father has sent out others to kill the both of us. Yes, Father indeed. Your grandfather."

She hissed at her daughter again before getting off of her, intent on leaving. She would let the foolish little girl think about that, and maybe later on, if she returned to her, Zuri would tell her more. Hell, she'd tell her everything if she wanted to. But for now, the mother had given the daughter something to chew on, and hopefully she would be grateful for what she did have.

Everything had happened so quickly. She really didn't feel the weight of her mother for a long moment, and only when she had let go of her did her shoulders hurt. Wow...what...just happened?

She had to take a moment to absorb it all. More than a moment, actually. So her grandfather was...trying to kill them all? But how would he know that they were still around? Maybe he gave her mother a deadline on...killing her sister. Bara? The whole idea of that was sickening. And not really hard to believe, actually. Perhaps it was the rage that she could see in her mother's eyes, that she could feel in her voice? Maybe. But that would bring understanding to the adolescent's mind. So that was why they were being so careful. Even with Fupa, and her pups, and the small group of them, they had to be so careful.

So she finally understood. She stayed where she was, long after letting her mother leave. It was probably for the best to let her relax a bit. Tahari couldn't say that she didn't prod at her mother, trying to piss her off. Maybe she had been wrong in that, but it felt so right in the moment.

"I'm sorry," she said to the spot where her mother had been. She would say it to her face sometime soon. She wanted to now, but she couldn't bring herself to go look for her right now. It would have to wait. But she would apologize, she told herself.

The little blue lioness curled herself up where she was, wondering what to do next.
