At our school pep rally (more like awards ceremony, because it was after state finals, so we got a trophy for second place and all that jazz), the football coach had us play our fight songs, "so that the guys can hear them one more time." He said that it really hit the football seniors hard that when they heard us play at the end of the state game, it would be the last time to hear it. Awww!!!!
So then he rambled on and on about how we always were there for them and never stopped playing, even when we couldn't feel our fingers and when there was ice on the field. Then he's like "oh and good job cheerleaders."
And the student section clapped a lot louder for us than they did for the cheerleaders!!!
I wonder if things are really starting to be different. If people are actually starting to be "rebellious" and starting some sort of revolution against cheerleaders...

Sorry to pop your bubble there, but I don't ever think we will be treated as equal as the cheerleaders.
Maybe among the teachers yes, but as for the general student population no.
Cheerleaders are "prettier" (not really), and alot of them who aren't really preety think they are so they flirt with every living boy, as long as he's not in band.
Band people are smarter than the cheerleaders, generally, so we are seen as nerds and dorks, which nobody likes anyway (but we're not).
& at our school all people who are in band for the most part, especially those in marching band, are seen as sex crazed goths.
So there to add to your point band people though we will rule the world eventually will not be treated equally as cheerleaders, at least not at my school any time soon. Sorry I seemed mean that's just how things are at my school, I've never been to your school so I don't know what things are like. I'm treated like this as an 8th grader, I don't want to think about when I actually get into highschool. confused eek

I think we're as close to equal now, as we have ever been. The cheerleaders are actually starting to support us (suprisingly.. oh and not that we need it) T__T but anyways the art club makes banners for the school.. and there are like 5 band ones. =D and when we march the halls, blasting our fight song, people know we're the boss and get outta our way. >_>;; GO BAND, TAKE OVER THE SCHOOL. >:]

who brings the most school spirit to a football game cheerleaders or marching band? MARCHING BAND! without us cheerleaders and pom squad would have no music to dance to... but have you ever noticed their blocking the view for people who actually came to see a game and not a dance....

We do that too! We hold our clarinets so that the barrel is facing them and pretend to shoot them! lol. And the drummers do this cool thing where they pretend the drum sticks are bows and they shoot invisible arrows at them. Pretty creative if ya ask me. =]

ehem... the school likes the cheerleaders... sadly... but i got to beat the crap out of a cheerleader like 2 years ago when i was a twerler at my old school because she kicked me in the face so i beat the crap out of her with my baton....heheheh it was fun. i didn't even get in trouble because the principal at Dayton knows that the cheerleaders over there are PSYCOTIC!!!!!

Band: Trips everywhere, nice uniforms even though their basically antiques.
cheerleader: go nowhere, only 10 people on the "squad", plain white T and black shorts. they are boring as hell...lawl.
GO BAND!! WE'RE POPULAR! razz

haha at my school we rule! =0 =D the cheerleaders are like yea they cheer but the cheer leaders only like us cuz we are usually the loudest people cheering with them when the try to get the crowd involved and all. but they usually hate it when we mock them and make up our own cheers that sound like their's. razz and some of the football players are like "so you guys gonna come to the football game and play music and do your show thing?" haha we rule! =D well at our school at least confused

Yeah our cheerleaders hate us so much. After we do our show at half time and it's their turn, we are usually at attention and it creeps them out to see us staring at them with such stern faces. So at our homecomming game we went to parade rest and gave them the cheesiest smiles throughout their performances. They we so crreped out, even worse than with the usuall attention stance. lol ^^

At my school theres a truce between the cheerleaders and the band. Why? One of the guard-member clarinets also cheers for the squad. During the game she will cheer but at half time she twirl her flag.

Man, we dominate our school. You always here one of the coaches(football, basketball, w/e) thanking the band over the intercom. Coach Miller(the retiring head football coach) even said at one point that the field was more the bands than the football teams. You almost never hear about the cheerleaders over the morning announcements but you always hear about the band.
