So much had changed. So much was still changing. And Valarauco could not stand it any longer. Disgusting lessors dipping their hooves into his proud race's blood. Pure Kalona giving birth to b*****d children with muddied blood. And those children going off and muddying the blood even further with their own lessor lusts.
What had become of his race? Had they really fallen that far? No, he couldn't believe that. Wouldn't. There had to be some reason. Something had to be happening that he could not see right in front of his face. And it made him sick.
At least there was one he could at least count on.
Confusion lead to frustration. And frustration lead to hunger. The Kalona stallion's stomach burned. The beast in the back of his mind scratched and clawed at the mental walls he had held up for so long. And now, each wall started to crumble as he raced across the snow covered valley below his mountainous home. The cold normally would of bothered him, much preferring the warmer seclusion of his cave deep within the rocky face of his own lands.
But he didn't care.
Muscles slid beneath his dark skin as he thundered along. Wings tight against his back as his spaded tail lashed wildly behind him. His rational side was gone for the time being. Now he was the hunter. But what he was hunting, he wasn't sure. Whatever came along his path perhaps or who's scent he caught as he streaked across the ground.
Either way....

 Ju trudged along the snowy landscape and shivered a little bit, her bangled ankles jingling. She hated this cold, but she had nowhere else to go. Nobody enjoyed her company. Every time she stopped to talk to somebody, they got fed up with her and left. she was constantly alone. And though she had always been alone as a child, she hated it now as an adult.
These thought brought anger to the surface, and her frail walk turned into an angry canter. She sped off in no particular direction, blinded by her sudden anger and the snow falling into her eyes. Her feet jingled furiously as she turned a corner, tearing around a grove of trees and out into the open field.

The faint jingling of metal caught in his ears.
This caused him to slow his speed quickly. Slowly he stalked the sound, keeping himself as best down wind as he could. There weren't many things that made that kind of sound. And if he was correct, quite a few Soquili wore things that had that metallic clink to it.
Firey eyes narrowed as he wound his way around a grove of trees. The tinkling sound growing louder the closer he got. Whoever it was, they were moving fast away from him. But not for long.
As he cleared the last bit of tree line, Valarauco spread his webbed wings and took to the air. He didn't hunt from the air all that often, you could be too easily spotted. But most Soquili were too fool hearty or stupid now a days to care. Most of them signed their own death wish by trying to play the hero.
When he gained a greater hight, he watched the ground speed quickly past him below. And there he spotted her. A flesh toned mare with ebony hair. Graced with not only gold markings, but gold ornaments as well. The source of this jingling noise.

She continued running, stretching her legs out as far as she could with each stride. She felt as though she was in a hurry, but she didn't know what for. She didn't know where she was going. But she was alone, and she hated everybody for making it that way.
She suddenly slowed her pace, now trotting, but still angry. She had nowhere to go, nobody to go to....she was all alone, and almost lost in the world that she had called home for entire life. She had nobody. Who would care if she didn't come back to that clearing in the woods at the end of the day? Everybody there ignored her anyways. And she could always feel that she was unwanted there. There and everywhere else.
She stopped. Her legs were shaking. Her breath fogged around her in the icy air. Her heavy tail was soaked from the melting snow that had flown up with each furious step she had taken. Her knees finally gave way and she collapsed to the ground, tears streaming from her eyes.

Watching from the air, he raised a curious eyebrow as she collapsed to the ground. His first steady on flight now turned into a carousel of circles in the air as he road a small updraft. Almost bird of prey like in his flight.
Well, this looked like it was going to be easier than he thought. Good. He wasn't up for much of a struggle at the moment. Quick and easy.
Letting the wind escape from beneath the thick membranes of his wings, he rode the air earth bound. A spiraling descent as he kept an eye on the mare, making sure she wasn't about to get up and sprint away.
Not two feet from her he finally touched ground. The snow beneath his hooves crunching heavily from the weight his body put on it. Wings flaring back before they folded against his sides, his tail snaking behind him. The tears on her face made him smirk. Such pitiful creatures these lessors were. Letting their emotions get the better of them.
The corners of his mouth now curled upwards into a smirk. Letting his razor sharp teeth slip out from beneath the black skin. "Why so sad?" His voice rumbled low in a mock sympathetic tone. Perhaps a bit of Zulimar had rubbed off on him. He found himself playing with his food more often now a days than just straight out killing them.

She had finally crashed. She had been putting up a front of not caring for so long and it had finally taken its toll. She lay there pitifully in the cold snow, her whole body shaking. But she froze the instant she heard the low voice behind her.
She spun her head around and stumbled to her feet. He knees were still shaking, but she was able to stand now. She stared at the stallion on front of her, her mouth agape.
She had never, in all her life, seen a creature like this. His very skin seemed to glow with an internal fire that was burning inside of him. She quickly gathered herself as her calm eyes met his firey ones. She lowered her head, pointing her sharp golden horn directly at him, but still staring right into his eyes.
"Who are you?"

A dark tongue flicked out between those sharp teeth and ran across them quickly before being pulled back behind them. He almost laughed as she scrambled to her hooves and pointed her horn at him. Ah, a Unicorn. How delicious.
"Who am I? Why, I'm the one who will end all your troubles my dear Unicorn. Poor, poor thing. All alone with no comrades. No loved ones? No one to come to your aid. How...sad that existence must be. Is that why you shed those beautiful tears?" If she thought she could intimidate him with that little annoyance attached to her head, she was sorely mistaken. Horns could puncture sure, but they were such an inadequate tool for fighting. Not as precise as teeth were. Plus if thats all you used to fight, well, you left yourself quite open from all other sides. Since the horn could only go one direction at a time.
Valar loved playing with Unicorns. They were the ones he hated the most and yet they still amused him in their prideful ways. Perhaps the Kalona and Unicorns were alike in this fact. But everything else was out the window.

She blinked a few times and raised her head again. End her troubles? And how did he know so much about her? How did he know that she was all alone? She blinked again and stared deep into his burning eyes.
"How do you know that?"
She was intimidated by this stallion. Intimidated by the way he looked, and by the way he had come out of nowhere. Scanning his body, she assumed that he had descended upon her from above, using those thick leathery wings.
But as she was intimidated, she was also somewhat entranced by him. He seemed to be promising to end her troubles. And, he was talking to her. This was more than anybody else had done for her in a long time. Though this might not be the best companion, he was at least one for the time being...and she was desperate.
"How would you end my troubles?"

Bingo. Ahhh, these lessors were so trivial and easy to figure out. It astounded him sometimes. His gaze did not break from her's as he spoke. "Your tears tell all. Not to mention that fact that you are indeed all on your lonesome. Most don't just go off crying by themselves unless there is a reason."
What he had thrown out before was a general assumption. From watching the lessors on his mountainous perch and the dark shadows the encompassed the forests, he had learned many of their--emotional outbursts were due to some deep rooted pain. Which fueled his fire quite nicely.
The Kalona paced slightly. Moving in a half circle around her. His tail continuing to snake back and forth as his large body moved. Snow and ice crunching heavily beneath his cloven hooves. "How would I end your troubles you ask? Simple...." He moved in closer now with great speed, almost to the point that his own body was up against hers. A sly grin spreading deeply across his lips. "I will show you what its like to not feel anything. No more pain. No more anguish in this unforgiving world. Nothing but sweet sweet darkness. Oblivion." His last few words were almost at a whisper as he spoke.

She gasped as he suddenly came face-to-face with her. She took half a step back, but didn't want to seem as if she was too scared, so she dared not move anymore. She kept her eyes on his as he spoke. He was so quiet that she could barely hear him.
She had a feeling that he didn't live down here where all the other Soquili lived. She could tell by the smell of him that he came from somewhere deep in the mountains. Perhaps he would take her there. Take her away from all these horrible, cold, and mean creatures down here, and keep her warm and happy up in the mountains.
"Will you take me with you?"
There was part of her that was scared of what she was saying. Though he seemed to care for her more than anybody else had up to this point, there was still something under the surface that she felt was bad about him. But in her desperate state, she was willing to take anything that was given to her.

His grin only served to grow wider. Causing his eyes to squint just slightly. Small creases forming in the skin around them This one seemed desperate to any attention. Asking him such questions.
Hmmmm, interesting. Very interesting.
The Kalona's tail whipped forward, the spaded end slipping underneath her chin and lifting her face upwards a bit. "Of course my dear. I'll take you away from all of this. Far away to where none of this pain will ever reach you again."
A single wing flared out as he moved to let her move underneath it if she wished. Then the trap would be set and there would be no escape for this little mouse. "If you want to come of course." Its not like he was giving her much of a choice in the first place.

She felt her heart flutter as he moved his tail around to touch her chin. It was a mix of feelings. She hadn't felt any kind of affection in a long time, so even if this was false, it was something nice that she kind of enjoyed. On the other hand, she was scared. He was getting very close to her, and she still felt a little wary of him.
But the words he said were almost irresistible. He was promising to take her away from this world where she had been neglected for so long. What mare in her position wouldn't want to go? A few tears fell from her eyes as she rushed forward underneath his wing, nuzzling up against his warm body.
"Thank you..." she whispered.

In the back of his mind, the beast roared with laughter. A sick glee welling up inside of it. Cackling madly and beating against the walls of his mind as it wailed.
On the outside, he was still calm. His grin fading slightly as he wrapped his wing around her. Motioning her to move with him. He would lead her into the mountains. And there, well, what was to happen only he himself knew. As far as this mare knew she was going somewhere where she wouldn't hurt anymore. Which indeed she was.
He turned his body towards the mountains as he walked with her tucked underneath his wing. "No, thank you."

She sighed and tried to stop her tears as she walked with him, her ankles jingling as they walked. She looked up at him, his eyes glowing with fire, and she shuddered a bit. She had never seen a creature like this, and yet, here she was, tucked under his wing and walking off into the mountains with him. She felt she had the right to ask a few questions.
"Why...are your eyes on fire? I've never seen anything like that before..."

Valarauco hadn't really expected her to start asking questions. But he'd amuse her in the mean time with a few answers if she really wanted to start asking them. Not like she'd have much use for the information much longer anyway.
"Because I was born from the fires inside the mountains. I'm not your usual cookie cutter run of the mill Soquili I assure you. Though I'm also sure you can see that quite clearly with your own two eyes." Oh, if only though she could see more with those eyes. Those tasty eyes that cried those tears of pure pain and anguish. He had to keep himself under control so that he did not rush her forward. It would seem a bit suspicious, even if the circumstances of his appearance and leading her into the mountains weren't cause for suspicion enough.
