--I'm updating a thing I was making back in January whereby I try to describe the whole world of angels I made up while I was writing 'Quest for the 5 Amulets'. It's a lot of fun to do, and (i think) is quite interesting, especially if you like religious mythology/fantasy like me :3
Baiscally most (if not all) the stuff here is my own creation [coming out of that skrewed up little mind o' mine]
-enjoy, and if you'd like, I'd love to hear what you think biggrin
[heck, if you're even inclined to make fanart i'd be crazily honoured!]

Thankyou biggrin

~*~The Angel Encyclopedia~*~

I’ve always loved mythology, and because my writing is almost always based around fantasy and sci-fi they draw heavily form it. Recently I’ve become fascinated with building up a near-christian/judeaistic view of an afterlife, where the galaxy turns under Jahovah (the God), and he in turn moves under the unseen force of Fate and her countless other gods of other galaxies. Naturally this scope is huge, so here I hope to help you along a bit in some of my stories {especially what one day will become the ‘quest for the 5 amulets’ trilogy} by outlining the Hierarchy of the Heavens and the people within it.
I hope you enjoy. If you have any questions or ideas get in contact! Lol
Obviously I like my artistic licence and have mixed up all the common influences into my own ideas and spewed them out in some way or another I like. For example, I KNOW Gabriel isn’t SUPPOSED to be the head of the angels etc, and he sure as heck ain’t Jesus’ dad: but hey, I like it that way
So I hope this guides you through my books, comics, art and ramblings- enjoy!

~Update log~
{from 14th Dec 07}

14/12/07 - Updated the misc section to explain mortal and angellic deaths.
17/12/07 - Updated the 'characters situated in Hell' to include Adam teh God of Death- one of my favourute characters. Have you noticed that those in Hell have longer bios? meh, I guess they're more interesteing :p
13/01/08 - Updated the 'earth characters' section to include Jesus and did a pretty long bio of him. It was kinda fun, since I was basically raised a christian it felt all nostalgic. while it does wiggle away quite dramatically form the dogma at times (blasphemey methinks? mehopes not) I was surprised how I actually ended up following quite a few biblical events relatively closely. Go me. Go Jesus. *peace* XD
27/03/08 - added some bits and bobs to the notes on angelic reproduction. This month I got a CD by a band called Jakalope, and for some reason the singer makes me think of an idea for what Adam's kids would be like once he got back to heaven and made up with Eve. i played sims (so i'd have a few random kids) and came up with twin boys and a girl ^_^ thinking about them made me come up with some new details about angellic reproduction (like how long it takes for an angellic child to grow up)

-- The Worlds and Dimensions --

The Universe:

The Universe is a vast body, and though it is as rooted within the normal dimension as you or me, it stretches out beyond even what Jahovah knows. Jahovah’s knowledge is confined to the Milky Way galaxy. Other galaxies have other gods, but he has never seen them. He knows one thing Fate is everything. The universal goddess. A presence beyond the void of even the countless dimensions. She created him and she rules the universe, but he is as ignorant as to the hows, whys and wheres of the universe as a whole and about her, as we are ignorant to him.

The Universe, Heaven and Hell are all interconnected, but take on different dimensions. Only a thin film of existence separates them, and is what makes them essentially invisible to each other. Heaven and Hell exist parallel to the Milky Way, but not within it, which is why mortals will never be able to find (or bump into) Heaven or Hell without angelic assistance, or after death (where the body/mind is so subtle/malleable it can pass through the film of existence). Angels and Jahovah can break the thin film between the dimensions and pass through it into the Milky Way, appearing wherever they desire within that dimension.
It has been theorised that recent Humanoid developments of Hyperspace technology may break these rules, as -theoretically- a Hyperspace jump can take you anywhere in existence. However, this is a long way off.

So, perhaps we would do well to divide the Universe into two sections. The ‘Milky Way’ aka the known universe of our mortal dimension; and ‘the Heavens’ ie the dimension which holds heaven, hell and God.

-->

--- The milky way/universe ---

The Galaxy we all know and Jahovah’s mortals live in. Jahovah (contrary to popular belief) is only the deity of the Milky Way galaxy - all other galaxies have their own God. In the present day (2400AD) mortals do not have the technology to travel the massive distance between the galaxies, and Jahovah has no control or knowledge of these other galaxies (he only knows they exist and are not his). We can see these galaxies (through a telescope or whatever) but cannot reach or influence them.
Back in the Milky Way, Jahovah has control. He was given all the rubble etc and had an initial wave of creation, where he put in place the laws of the universe, and set about creating the environment to harbour life and the first cells of life themselves.
Generally speaking after this point Jahovah stepped back and let life sort itself out. At first he had a land of only good, where animals etc simply existed in a world of good. They had free will, but (in some’s opinion) it had little meaning. This watershed period was broken during the war, when Adam (an angel), forced open the gates of Hell and let out the Dormant Evil [Jahovah is pure good, this is pure evil, but had been suppressed]. This being created Hell, and released much of itself into the Universe, thus tainting life itself. Adam believed that doing this would finally give the creatures more free will - they could choose to go against God and embrace Evil, and [in suffering Evil] they would greater appreciate good. Life was tainted irrevocably.
God’s energies now go into maintaining the tenuous balance in the Universe between good and evil. He often only interferes in personal Fates.

---The Heavens---

This is a parallel dimension to ‘The Universe’ that holds the Milky Way. Time operates differently, often beyond mortal understanding. This dimension is currently separated out into 3 main sections: Heaven, Hell and Chaos.

Heaven is the land Jahovah was born into- a vast expanse of white; and we’re talking VAST. It is surrounded by a wall and the gates of heaven. How it appears is often linked to how Jahovah’s imagination is buzzing, and it now it has a varied appearance similar to that of many sentient beings’ planets. Gorgeous gardens, a pure blue sky, mountains etc etc. The inner captial city ‘Eden’ is in the centre and built out of materials like glass, with numerous streams and waterfalls about it. It rises in a tiered shape (not unlike some wedding cakes) with countless platforms, many containing additional gardens. At the top is Jahovah’s chambers so that he can watch over all of heaven with ease. This is where most of the angels live at some time, as it is the hub of activity and offers a domestic bliss for those who desire a change from exploring the gardens. Souls can enter through the gates. It’s a place of peace most of the time, with the exception of the War in Heaven.

Hell was created during the war in heaven when Adam opened them to let the Dormant Evil out of heaven to infect the ‘Milky Way’ (he believed it would help, explained in ‘Quest for the 5 Amulets’). The release of this evil caused a giant black hole to be created below heaven, which contains Hell. The reason it was created was because this Dormant Evil was something sentient but weak, and this sentient creature caused Hell to be made by its energy and most of it remained in Hell until Lucifer was thrown in. Once Lucifer entered Hell the Dormant Evil entered him and in a way possessed him, merging with him to create a new being - Satan.
The interior of hell is a cavernous, empty place made of rock and fire - similar in many respects to the interior of volcanoes. Everything is black and the air is stifling-near-acidic. It is easily the size of heaven, but in a sense ‘underground’. It is essentially a hugely deep tunnel, and its entrance is the black hole’s enterance (at the end of a vertical tunnel).

Chaos is a mysterious place. Basically it’s negative space - wherever heaven and Hell are not. It is vast-infinity, and no one really knows what it is. Heaven floats within chaos, and Hell is directly below heaven also suspended in chaos. Chaos is truly infinite. Angels and demons alike fear chaos, and don’t dwell in it unless absolutely necessary - for example a crossing of chaos would be needed to access Heaven from starting at Hell (under Heaven) and visa versa. Most find it a terrifying experience.
The only Angel/Demon that spends any real time in Chaos is Adam when he gained his role as ‘God of Death’ (in order to be able to escape hell). When he shifts from the Heavens-dimension into the Mortal Milky-Way dimension, he often travels out of Hell and into Chaos to do it (so he’s safe form the demons in Hell). Even he only spends a few minutes at a time there.
Chaos is described as ‘the nothing’ by the angels, for its substance is literally of nothingness. Jahovah theorises that perhaps Chaos is the key to gaining access to other gods. That perhaps Fate lives far within chaos itself.
These are all possible theories, and it seems that even to Jahovah chaos will remain a mystery.

---Angelic/Demonic Hiearchy ---

The Hierarchy of Heaven:

Heaven works generally as a monarchical democracy. Jahovah has total rule (many of his decisions are influenced by the ‘visions’/inspiration he receives.), but for many decisions and actions he discusses with his council of Seraphim [at the time of ‘Quest for the 5 Amulets’ this is Gabriel and Eve] and Cherubim [Michael, Raphael, Uriel and Chamuel]. They in turn take governance over the lower angels and creatures.

--The almighty--
Jahovah (God) - the big cheese, though he thinks of his angels as almost equal and respects them as such. He’s amazed by them and all creation Essentially he can create and destroy anything in his universe if he so chooses, although often it is nowhere near that simple.

--1st Tier--

Seraphim:
Tthese are the highest order of angels, the first to be created by Jahovah and his favourite ones (though he’s loath to have favourites of course). They differ, but generally are more powerful than the other angels and instruct them. They do go to Earth and the other planets but usually only for important reasons (with the exception of Gabriel who loves checking out the galaxy-creatures).
There were four of these [in age order]: Gabriel, Lucifer, Eve & Adam but following the war on heaven, Lucifer and Adam were condemned to hell.
The head leader of these angels, although he doesn’t entirely recognise himself as such, is Gabriel- Jahovah’s first ever creation of life. This is shown especially in the fact that he is the only angel to have six wings and be completely without gender. Other angels are either male, female, hermaphrodites or equally both (like plants). Gabriel’s rank is somewhere between Seraphim and Almighty, and has often been described as the right hand of Jahovah.
Gabriel is the most powerful angel, and was given the special task of fathering Jesus (thus making Jesus part-angel); and passing judgement (with Jahovah’s supervision) over Lucifer and the rebel angels. Gabriel was the one that finally took Lucifer down.
In Heaven, since the war and Lucifer & Adam’s fall, Gabriel and Eve are the two Seraphim.

Cherubim (Karibu):
These are the leaders of all the other angels, who each serve their own specific purpose in the Galaxy also. They work with the Seraphim closely, though are one rank lower than them essentially.
Funnily enough these angels are younger than many even below them, having been created after the Great War in heaven. Some believe that Jahovah wanted to start anew with those who had not been tainted or disheartened by the war, and so despite their age they rule over many older angels.
The members of this are Michael, Raphael, and the twins Uriel & Chamuel
Their special tasks:
Michael: Divine Justice / Just war - Especially in respect to controlling rouge demons.
Raphael: Knowledge/Creativity - He takes special action with inspiring saints/holy figures.
Uriel: Peace/Redemption - Uriel takes care of much of who is deemed worthy to become an mortal-turned-angel. She takes a pacifist stance in heaven, which often brings her into conflict with Michael. She inspires people to change their ways.
Chamuel: Love/Reproduction/Family - He’s where the idea of ‘Cupid’ came from.

Etenols (Hebrew for ‘yesterdays’):
The ‘Yesterdays’, a.k.a the prophet angels. During the course of life in the galaxy Jahovah appointed and used some special humans to serve him in Heaven. These had many different types, such as Enoch who was shown heaven as a mortal, Jesus who was given angelic powers as a boy to become a ‘Messiah’ figure, or Siddhartha who attained ‘Enlightenment’. These are more important than usual human-born-made angels, yet they have no particular place in the rankings as they serve God and the other angels, while alternatively being ‘special’ in privilege in many ways in Heaven due to the good they did in life (often as prophet-like figures). I ranked them highly as they often help Jahovah and the Seraphim directly.
There are quite a few of these prophet-turned-angels, but the most prominent ones are Enoch (Metatron), Elijah (Sandaphlon), Jesus, Mohammed, and Siddhartha (Buddha).
The one most prominent in Angelic affairs is Jesus, who spends a lot of time with Gabriel in particular.

Thrones:
Strange angels without humanoid form, they carry out the natural wills of Jahovah in the movements in the galaxy when he decides to not let things run their natural course for a time and shape fate personally. They have been described as many things, the most popular of which is the description of “a wheel within a wheel the rims of all four were full of eyes all around”, though they can take many surreal forms. The most common of these us indeed the wheel. They are metallic blue reflective rings with glowing ‘eyes’ around the edge (one set of many horizontal, the other set vertical so it is vertical horizontal vertical etc). Inside the ring there is a bright star-like light. The thrones link together when managing big tasks. Though they are essentially separate form/species of angelic life, although they have been seen to appear at important moments in humanoid history which will shape the future, and so they have been thought to be the recorders of important moments of history as well as the creators of natural phenomenon. This idea is essentially correct, as they converse with Enoch (Metatron) who is the official recorder of heaven (and ‘voice of God’). Generally they are apart from other angels and only converse with Jahovah and Metatron only, skipping out on other angels completely. The leader of the thrones is Zaphiel, who has been described as ‘the hidden left hand of Jahovah’.

--2nd and 3rd Tiers--
Rom the 1st tier down the angels are governed in loose democracies and groups usually according to what tasks they perform. The 3rd tier is comprised of mainly mortal-turned-angels [humans that have served such good lives they were allowed to become angels] and the souls of mortals that have moved into Heaven after leading god lives [and choosing to reject the option of re-incarnation]

The Hierarchy of Hell:

--Leader: Satan--
Satan is the dictatorial leader of Hell. He’s regarded as the king (and is bar far the most powerful- having created most of Hell by himself). His palace is in the centre of the main city- Pandaemonium - and he uses a inner council of his 2 viceroys and his lead military commanders to rule the other fallen angels/demons.
Characteristically he can be cruel to his subjects [for example when Jahovah turned him into a Naga-creature as punishment for betraying him in a deal that was to act as a truce- Satan turned around and used his power to mutate all the other fallen angels into hideous demons.]
However on the whole Satan looks out for his demons and recognises their loyalty to him.
Tactically: Satan has always been jealous of Jahovah’s mortal creations - having spotted them something which made them ‘special’ and ultimately superior to angels. Feeling betrayed, and sick of Jahovah’s passive role, he wanted to make the creatures feel evil and suffer as he did. (His main ‘sufferance’ was being romantically rejected by Eve in preference for the 2nd ever male- Adam.) pride and jealousy fuels his decisions. He doesn’t necessarily want to destroy mortal life, but instead subject them all under his control and make them suffer.

--Viceroys--

-Mestopheles: The first demon Satan discussed rebellion with. At first reluctant, Mestopheles was gradually brought over to Satan’s logic that Jahovah was being unfair to the angels in preference to mortals. Still reluctant, Satan intimidated him into joining him, and generally Mestopheles follows what Satan says. Not nearly as sadistic as most other demons, but nevertheless convinced of angelic/demonic supremacy; Satan appoints him more to jobs that deal with the details, thus keeping him away from most action. Mestopheles deals primarily with managing/recording the evil souls the demons can ‘catch’ [as these souls are stuck between the mortal realm and Heaven/Hell, waiting for the grim Reaper to move them]. Mestopheles also deals with any rebel demons, whereby he can get uncharacteristically nasty.

-Beelio: Beelio is essentially Satan’s right hand man and respected as one of the most vicious and sadistic demons in Hell. Highly intelligent and cunning, Beelio acts out Satan’s will and acts as his personal advisor - doing whichever job he requires. Primarily, he acts as a spy on the mortal world (Where he can travel freely- a rare commodity for a demon - however he cannot directly affect anything mortal in any way.) but also often is the one to find and drag Adam (the Rebellious Grim Reaper) back to Hell when Stan demands he return. Then it’s often either Satan, him, or Mestopheles that will torture Adam.
He, along with Satan and Mestopheles, is a firm believer that controlling Adam is the key to victory. If they control the Grim Reaper, they can stop him passing souls over into Heaven (or reincarnation). If The Grim Reaper can’t do this, then the demons can take the opportunity to steal the evil souls and drag them into Hell. [They can only take souls with evil in them].

Adam: Whether he is a Viceroy or not is debatable. He refuses to take any part in Hell’s politics, and is largely outside of anything the demons do. However Satan insists on having his brother Adam in the Palace with him whenever he can, to keep an eye on him or entertain himself by torturing him.
Adam is special because he was one of the two seraphim that fell (Satan was the other). He didn’t openly rebel by killing other angels, but- after much thought- decided to open the gates of Heaven to let the Dormant Evil out. As such, he was condemned to Hell as punishment. However, Jahovah saw that he was essentially good [and saw how Satan was purposely trying to make Adam suffer as much as possible], so granted Adam the power to turn into the demi God of Death (aka the Grim Reaper), which allowed him more power and the freedom to escape Hell onto the Mortal world (and interact with mortals/mortal objects). However his job is in itself a great and painful lesson, as he sees first hand all the suffering that releasing the Dormant Evil caused [-eg Child murders, nuclear war, lives ended after a life of suffering etc].
Satan like shim to be around.

Commanders:
-Moloch: Generally a violent demon who enjoys open warfare. Twisted by the idea that Heaven betrayed them in sending them to Hell, he is determined to eradicate all Jahovah’s creation in revenge and repeatedly suggests repeat wars on Heaven.
-Mammon: he supports Beelzebub that Hell can become a Paradise, and believes in annihilating all of mankind is the way to go, and eventually pick off Heaven in chunks.
-Beelzebub: Manipulative and charismatic, Beezelbub is generally cautious in her tactics, and believes that the best way to destroy mankind is to manipulate and destroy them from the inside out- encouraging them to commit evil through subtle persuasion. She has a huge amount of pride and views them as stupid. She takes great pride in the evils on mankind and insists that if left long enough they will destroy themselves. In the meanwhile, the demons should create as utopia in Hell, and co-erse what angels they can over to it. She is against fighting heaven at all and instead believes that angels could be converted over to Demons willingly. All of this would break God’s heart- suitable revenge.
Satan agrees mostly with this perspective.
Satan often goes to Beelzebub when he wants demons or mortals punished, as she’s ingenious at coming up with these things.

Angelic/Demonic Family Tree

User Image

---Angel Family Tree---

The family tree for how Heaven and Hell work in my world of ‘em :3

Notes on reproduction:

Original angels are a creation of God and are a manifestation of his will and a part of his energy. Thus they are both God’s children and a part of God himself. [So when they die their ‘souls’ are re-absorbed into his being]. God can only create things made from himself (somewhat like a cell can) but cannot join with any other being to create a child. While these offspring call each other ‘brother’ and ‘sister’ they are unique beings themselves and so not genetically related. However on occasion God purposely creates genetic sibling angels.

Angel/Demon Children: The product of angel-to-angel reproduction.
These are born through pregnancy, but this pregnancy can occasionally happen even between two male or two female angels. the babies are born, but mature rapidly. When they become late teenagers, they mature more slowly. Like almost all angels, they do not pysically age past their early adulthood.

Etemols and Reincarnate Angels used to be normal mortal life forms and are ‘reincarnated’ into angel form. Thus they are only related to their mortal normal parents. They rarely age beyond the age they died at as mortals. If they died at an old age, they can sometimes become younger.

Part Angels : usually part or half angel/demon and part something else (usually mortal). The resultant child often had supernatural characteristics. Eg Jesus: often mistaken to be the Son of God, but actually is the Son of Gabriel, as God cannot directly reproduce with anyone. These often age according to the norm of the mortal half (eg Jesus aged as any human did)

Mirror Reincarnation: On very rare occasions a heavenly creature can essentially reproduce itself into a new body. Etemols have been known to do this when they want to return to the mortal world as mortals. Usually it requires a massive amount of power and results in the ‘old’ body’s death. The resultant being is not always exactly the same - often gaining a slightly different personality. However either overtly or covertly the new mind retains the old mind’s memories. It can be described as ‘controlled reincarnation’.

Merging: In a way it can be called a reproduction. One being merged/permanently possesses another thus creating a more powerful being. The Dormant Evil (created along with God as his balance) was released when Adam opened the gates of Hell and ‘Merged’ with the first thing to enter the newly created hell - Lucifer. Thus, the Evil and Lucifer merged into a new being Satan. Thus giving ‘Satan’ a massive amount of power.

Characters Situated in Heaven

Fate - Queen of Creation:
[Fate is technicaly waaaay outside of Heaven, but i classed her in here]
An extremely mysterious figure. She is the controller of the universe, the creator of Jahovah. She resides in another dimension outside of the universe, though it is unknown how many other creatures are there with her. That is all we know of her.

Jahovah - God:
The God of the Milky Way. Though essentially he did not create the galaxy itself, he manages it and creates everything within it- to a point. He believes in letting evolution and the natural course influence a lot, though he takes direct action in many many little things with the help of his thousand upon thousands of angels. He’s a very creative person, although being without his own concrete form he tends to imitate other life forms and elements to ’personify’ himself. He’s got a good sense of humour and is very sensitive and emotional at times which can flip over to a more vengeful side briefly when really emotionally hurt, although he continually believes in repentance and redemption. He is mystified and in love with what he creates, although it saddens him greatly when he needs to be cruel to be kind and to turn the galaxy in its intended course (e.g. being forced to make Jesus into a martyr in order to create Christianity etc). He believes greatly in free will, although the balance between wanting to give his creatures a beautiful and enjoyable life, wanting to turn the galaxy towards a meaning, and giving life total free will is often hard to maintain, consequently leading to Lucifer’s rebellion.
His omniscience is often limited to ‘visions’ that come and go -flashes of inspiration or prophetic information he makes use of.
In short? He is a very good man but often finds it hard to please everyone while still sticking to the rules and so has to follow his heart. His creature’s best interests as a whole are always settled in his heart.
Appearance:- It changes, although ever since he came up with the ideas of humans he has been in human-esq form. This is of an African man with grey-black beard and short curly hair with brown eyes, usually dressed all in white. However when you see his reflection he reveals his true form in the reflection. This is just light, like a star.

Gabriel - Head Angel (Seraphim):
The head angel of heaven, and the eldest of the 4 Seraphim, Gabriel was the first ever angel created by Jahovah. ’He’ is completely androgynous and has six wings, and like the other angels can shape shift, although he has never moved out of the human-like form Jahovah gave him, although he frequently changes things such as hairstyle, wing number and clothes. He is rumoured to be the most powerful angel, but he hasn’t shown himself as such [naturally being quite modest], although it was him who finally brought down Lucifer in the Great war in Heaven. He is infinitely forgiving and loving, with a genuine excitement for life - both from the smallest grain of sand to the humanoids in the galaxy. He is generally informal, enthusiastic, happy, good natured, emotional and genuine - but he can take his role as right hand of god very seriously when it calls for it. He loves spending time with Jahovah’s creations, especially the humanoids (aka stewards), and so is responsible for the Etemols above all. He both spends time on Earth and other planets on official business and for enjoyment, often just living and enjoying himself down there for bouts. His favourite Etemol is Jesus because he essentially knew him and played his part in raising him since Jesus was a small child, and was there every moment of his death. Gabriel was the one that impregnated the virgin Mary: A-because God couldn’t do it himself (and wouldn’t want to risk giving the child too much power) and B- because God wanted to give Gabriel a gift as Gabriel had been down about the fact he couldn’t reproduce like some of the other angels were beginning to do.
Of the Cherubim, Michael is the one who spends most time with Gabriel (Gabriel is always wary of his combative nature, so took him under his wings. Also as Michael is head of divine justice, it makes sense that he should work closely with the head angel). And Gabriel always hangs around with his ‘sister’ the Seraphim Eve.
Gabriel is occasionally seen with a horn (because he is the voice of God), and his favourite flower is the lily.
Appearance:- his ‘default’ form is an asexual human-like creature with largish pointed ears, six white angel wings and a golden halo. He has large feminine blue eyes, a feminine face, a lithe athletic build (which obviously looks fairly male-ish due to the lack of breasts, hourglass figure or genitals). He has ringletted blonde hair, usually back-length, although in other forms he changes the style. For example, his favourite alternative form is with two or no wings, short ear-length hair and a suit with a rainbow tie. In his forms, blonde ringletted hair and some sort of rainbow-themed finish is common.
He has no nipples, genitals or belly button. He;s pale-ish Caucasian.

Eve - the first female (seraphim):
Eve was the 1st ever female angel to be created. She’s gutsy, intelligent, headstrong but often sensitive [ she takes things directly to heart at times] and very caring. She favours direct action rather than time sitting around discussing while bad things happen, and so relies heavily on her emotions and instincts in battle. She fell in deep love with Adam (who was created simultaneously with her) and cares for him more than anyone in the world. The two were hoping to be married shortly before the war broke out. During the war she searched for him and found him on the highest tier of Heaven’s city of Eden and demanded why he wouldn’t fight. When he told her of his own logic - that mortal life needed evil in order to be worth anything and to gain their own dignity (out of the hands of God) she was horrified that he was practically on Satan’s side. Trying to shake sense into him, he was resolved (however reluctant to act against God) in his will. Furious and devastated, she left him in order to fight the rebel angels with the others. When she next saw him in was a prisoner- his wings newly black and bound with rope, awaiting his sentence. She was heartbroken, and for a long time was unable to forgive him, but still in love with him. Over time she began to forgive him, until he eventually returned back to Heaven. He was still ashamed, and had changed from his time in Hell, but she reunited with him and told her she forgave him. The two were married and are rarely ever separated.
During the time after the rebellion Eve and Gabriel were the only 2 of the 4 seraphim left, and Eve became a prominent figure in Heavenly politics, admired for her common sense and passionate love of creation. She has wavy brown hair, brown eyes and a caucasion, slighty tanned complexion.

Micheal (Cherubim):
Michael is the eldest of the Cherubim and the angel in charge of Divine Justice and Just War. He tends to see things in black and white, and has little compassion when it comes to dealing with traitors and sinners, and as such he needs Gabriel and Eve’s interventions in order to balance out his personality and stop him flying of the handle. When Adam retruns from Hell he never relaly trusts him (nor any redempted Demon). He believes in the ‘greater good’ and is extremely devoted to Jahovah and the Seraphim, and wouldn’t even think twice before throwing down his life for any good angel or being. While his matter-of-fact personality and way of doing things and his general lack of humour often means that he’s on the butt end of jokes from angels who become irritated with him, everyone respects him as a very good angel with a big (if a little overly solid) heart. Michael can always be relied on.
He's muscular, has short curly red hair, red wings, blue eyes and a freckled complexion, often dressed in a mix between the suit-style of formal clothes and roman/grecian armour.

Raphael (Cherubim):
Raphael is in charge of the arts and divine inspiration, and as such is a creative soul. Quite quiet and reserved - he wouldn’t hurt a fly, and his passivity and determination to hold all views/opinions to account can annoy Michael. He’ somewhat shy, even around the other angels, but is extremely friendly and loving, and with some coercion can be brought out of his shell. He excels in humanoid-angel relations, often giving Divine inspiration or contact to them when needed. He loves exchanging ideas and exploring the mortal world whenever he can. He and Uriel have special ability in healing, and the two get along very well. For a time he and Chamuel are in a relationship, and the two always end up together.
He had very long straight black hair, green eyes and green wings. Recently he wears Tudor-style clothes and has a delicate build. He's also quite tall with long limbs.

Uriel (Cherubim):
Uriel is the only female Cherubim, and the twin sister of Chamuel. She takes care of the pursuit of peace and divine redemption - her very job often bringing her to loggerheads with Michael. As a pacifist she opposes all physical violence, but her loud voice and (often staggeringly) strong will do the work for her just as well. When she and Michael come to an argument most angels decide it’s good practice to stay well clear! However outside of these ‘debates’ she’s a peaceful, sweet lady with a bubbly sense of humour who enjoys nature immensely. She gets on with Raphael the most and the two have a natural knack at healing. She generally despairs of her extroverted twin Chamuel, but he always makes her laugh.
She’s got brown skin, is skinny and delicate in build, and short ‘floofy’ white hair. She has light purple eyes and subtle freckles on her face. She has pink wings.

Chamuel (Cherubim):
Chamuel is Uriel’s twin sister, and responsible for love and families. He’s extremely extroverted and active and is fun-loving and cheeky, with a wild sense of humour, a raging libido and a love of chocolate. While he has a habit of sleeping around (provided consent is given from his current girlfriend or boyfriend), he relentlessly pursues Raphael as his true love. Generally speaking he’s famous in heaven for his antics, but also for his big heart. He treats all angels as his big family and will do anything to protect them and make them happy. He loves children, and whenever the angels have them he’ll be there to support them when they give birth and be there to play with the children. His short attention span often make him come across as less-than-intelligent, but he’ll surprise people with random gems of wisdom, showing that he’s a lot brighter than he cares to reveal.
He’s got brown skin, white hair with two long bangs and pink wings. He's quite handsome and dresses in a sort of 80s new romantic -come-medieval style.

Characters Situated in Hell

Lucifer/Satan- Lord of Hell/Demigod of Evil(fallen seraphim):
Proud, vain, jealous, intelligent and powerful, Satan was created as the angel Lucifer shortly after Gabriel’s creation in order to keep Gabriel company. He was the first ever male, and for the most part enjoyed his life, especially enjoying the massive Storms that took place on the early creations of the planets. In many respects stereotypically male - enjoying sport and fighting most. Lucifer first began to grow disgruntled with Jahovah’s regime when Jahovah created the first ever mortal life - the single cell organisms. Lucifer could sense a powerful and unique energy in them, and it unnerved him greatly. He grew jealous of them and distanced himself more and more form the creative process Jahovah and Gabriel were engaged in. When Jahovah decided that it was time to create the first female, Lucifer was excited at the idea of a mate. However Jahovah decided to create another male -Adam- along with eve, so that she could choose who she wanted to fall in love with. She choose Adam, which twisted Lucifer to his core. As the first male he viewed Eve as something rightfully his. Cheated in life by the mortals and cheated in love by Eve, he grew more and more bitter, directing his hatred on the mortal animals- killing them (an act unheard of and abhorrent at the time). When Mestopheles noticed he had killed two animals he quickly convinced the angel of his arguments against Jahovah, and through coercion and intimidation brought him, and many other angels onto his side to rebel against Jahovah.
The rest is history. After killing many angels he was brought down by Gabriel and condemned to the New Hell (created by Adam releasing the evil). Gabriel gave him a chance of redemption and he spat it back in their faces, saying ‘it’s better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.’ With that he was condemned and he and the rebel angels were thrown into Hell.
As the first in Hell, there was an odd hissing, and he was possessed by the sentient Evil. Thus he ‘merged’ into a new being - Satan the demigod. He became infinitely more powerful, and more evil.
On one occasion, when Jahovah created the first humanoid ‘test run’ (Jobe and his family) he offered Satan a chance to redeem himself, or at least come to a truce. He offered that Satan test Jobe in as many ways as he could (suffering etc) but under the condition that Satan would keep at least one member of Jobe’s large family, and Jobe himself, alive. At first Satan did as he was told - turning into a snake to do his dirty work- but then to spite Jahovah he killed the last of Jobe’s family and crippled Jobe. Later he killed Jobe. Furious at the betrayal and disgusted by cruelty of Satan’s actions, Jahovah punished him by permanently transforming the vain Satan into a part-snake. A demonic naga creature. Jahovah also restricted the Demons powers, so that many would never be able to go in the mortal realm, and that those who could, could not directly harm anything mortal or, for some, they could not even interact with objects in the mortal realm.
Once back in Hell, the humiliated Satan turned on Adam first, mutating the handsome angel into a hideous demon. He then turned on the rest of the fallen angels, mutating them all into demons.
Satan tries to make mankind suffer however he can, and longs to have total control over them. His favourite pastime is torturing Adam - the source of most of his jealousy. God gave Adam the powers of a demigod of Death in order to escape Satan, and so often eludes him. Satan views this as a game of chase and so when he does manage to drag Adam back into hell, the torture and mind-games goes up tenfold. However he hates to admit it, he does actually love Adam very deep down. When Adam eventually returns to Heaven for good deeds Satan is stricken with grief that his brother is gone.
Satan fathered a daughter with a human mortal - Sin, and has an incestuous relationship with her. Generally he again abuses her from time to time - usually more mentally than physically, but he loves her dearly. When the Dormant Evil is eventually expelled from him, his eyes clear to how much he truly does care for her as a father. He raised her unde rteh care of Mestopheles and Beelio and instructed them never to let her see a good deed. Having only known evil she grows up wicked, but over time -with Gabriel and Eve’s covert intervention- she begins to see good and cherishes it. Sin eventually also leaves him for heaven, and again he is left alone but for her occasional visits, sickened that the angels took her form him.
With Sin he has a son/grandson called Damien - essentially the ‘antichrist’. Damien is naturally evil and Satan is very fond of him. Damien hates him, and a power struggle emerges with Damien constantly trying to find ways to kill Satan and usurp power. Being stronger and generally more intelligent than his grandson, Satan finds much amusement in dodging these murder attempts.
Satan is an odd character- completely evil and a total b*****d, but nevertheless open to moments of genuine affection, and he even at times can be noble when it really depends on it.

Adam / ‘Death’ - The ‘Grim Reaper’/Demigod of Death’ (Fallen Seraphim):
Adam was the second ever male created, and was created simultaneously with Eve, shortly after Jahovah had created the first life in the universe. He’s tall, with pale skin, a relatively artistic build and long feathery white hair. His most prominent feature are his deep blue eyes. Like all the Seraphim he had white wings, and like all the fallen angels these were turned black when he fell. Once in Hell (after Satan was mutated) he was mutated into a demonic appearance. He gained bat wings (with red membranes) instead of angel wings, and his body grew into the habit of decomposing as he used up magical energy. This decomposition could render him completely skeletal at the end of it. When he was given the ‘gift’ of becoming the God of Death (by Jahovah so that he could escape Hell into the mortal realm for a limited time), he changed so that he could not create any clothing that wasn’t black. He can escape into the mortal universe in order to do his job. However every time he ‘saves’ a life (as opposed to ending it), and when he does various magic, his body decomposes. This weakens him and after a time he is forced to return to Hell to regenerate his strength back. Like all angels and fallen angels/demons he has a golden halo of light.
Often eloquent, intelligent and very emotional, Adam has a habit of becoming caught between his reasoning and his heart. When his reasoning reigns supreme he can get a little inflated with pride (when he believes he’s right, there are no arguments), which led to him opening the gates of Heaven and letting the Dormant Evil out into the mortal universe during the War in Heaven. He wanted to give life more free will and a more free role in their own lives- and while this made much logical sense to him in the war, the rest of his life as a fallen angel has been spent regretting it deeply. When his heart reigns supreme, he sacrifices himself to achieve the goal - no matter what. But yet again, when he’s determined to get something done, he accepts very little arguments. You’re either with him or against him in many respects.
Since his damnation in the war in heaven, he lost his confidence. For a long time he just lived to survive whatever his brother would inflict upon him, all the time wallowing in his own regrets and wish for forgiveness. However when God gave him the ‘gift’ of becoming the god of death he realised that he wasn’t completely alone. He was determined to do his job as god of Death to his best ability, but at the same time the job tore him apart inside with guilt as he realised first hand the suffering his act had inflicted on the mortal lifeforms. His life drive became to make up for what he did to the galaxy and these life forms, and -through his job- try to stop Satan form ensnaring and catching the mortal souls.
A life of torture, guilt, grief (mostly at losing the ones he loves esp Eve) and loneliness has turned him into quite a pessimist and an introvert, but this never stops him form trying to do good. He is essentially very good- through and through. However life in hell has given an edge to his personality. He is prepared to physically or emotionally hurt someone in order to get them to do the right thing, and while quite his sensitivity and emotional nature gives him compassion, he can harden himself against it.
Having lost hope of redemption over the years he nevertheless strives for it, but this lack of hope is what fuels his crueller moments. Through it all, after his fall, his loyalty to God never falters, which leaves him vulnerable and hated by the other demons. Therefore he spends as much time in the mortal realm as he can (and his love for mortal creatures grew even more). Despite all the torture and humiliation the demons cause him, he cannot stop -deep down- loving Satan and his siblings.

Characters situated on Earth

Jesus [Part angel human -etemol] aka Jesus of Nazareth/’King of the Jews’:
The famous prophet of Human ‘History’ where Western Humans get their date system from (with his birthdates marking the start of Christian history [B.C = ‘before Christ’]. The Christian religion venerate him as ‘Christ’ and the ‘Messiah’ - ie the son of God and one branch of the ‘Holy Trinity’.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem as his parents travelled to take part in a census. The mass of people doing the same meant they had to take refuge in a stable for the birth. His birth is famous because it was a virgin impregnation - during what is called the ‘annunciation’ the asexual Gabriel - acting on the instructions of Jahovah- impregnated the virgin Mary, thus making the impregnation special on two counts, as both beings would normally be unable to have children in this way. Thus, when Jesus was born he was born with all the powers of an angel - and a powerful one at that (Gabriel is the first angel created by Jahovah- a seraphim). It is through his powers and the angelic publicity he received (with his special birth being announced to a select number of individuals) that led to the popular misconception that he was a child of God directly.
Nevertheless the special quality of his birth showed that he was to be a key feature in human history, as Jahovah had personally intervened in order to bring about a spiritual revolution.
The eldest child of four; Jesus spent most of his childhood only partially aware of his special abilities, working as a carpenter with his father. He had a natural intelligence and talent for understanding and arguing religious scriptures and often caused controversy as he would sneak into temples to discuss/teach with the elders, and one episode -when he was 12- this led to him getting separated from his parents and consequently left in Jerusalem for 3 days. Naturally, his parents weren’t too pleased.
Often absent minded when it comes to ‘real life’ because of his habit to internal meditation, prone to a hot temper and naturally rebellious, he nevertheless has a deep love of life, peace and God. When he was 13 Gabriel finally appeared to him again and explained who he actually was (his powers etc), and inferred that he was the Son of God. From then on his reputation as a spiritual genius blossomed.
When he was 30 he decided to be baptized and Gabriel appeared again to explain the weight of his powers and his purpose in life to lead people to goodness once again. He retreated into the desert to contemplate what he should do and met Satan.
Throughout Jesus’ life, Satan took a special interest in him. Ever since Satan was instructed to interfere with Job’s life in order to test him (and Satan had been punished& humiliation by being turned into a Naga), he had returned to the background to manipulate humans via his demons in hell. However, sensing the magnitude of what Jesus could do to affect the world; he decided to take an active role in testing him, but was limited by the fact that he couldn’t touch him/kill him. Repeatedly Satan tried to manipulate and test Jesus throughout his life, but to no avail. After his experiences in the desert Jesus turned to ministry and gained a reputation for his knowledge, understanding and the miracles that he created, gaining him many disciples.
Over time, he developed a special relationship with Mary Magdalene and they were married and she became pregnant (with their daughter Sara). It was at this time that Gabriel reappeared and, deeply upset, told Jesus that he had to die in order for his fate to be carried out. Angry and upset that there was no other choice, and that he would never be able to see his daughter born, Jesus begged Gabriel for some other consolation, but Gabriel insisted his fate was sealed and that the demons had already moved upon Judas to tempt him to betray Jesus. Resigned, Jesus took time to come to terms with this revelation and soon took part in ‘the last supper’ to say goodbye to his disciples and family.
In the garden of Gethsemane he, Gabriel and Eve talked again and he accepted his need to die. He was arrested, tried and crucified as a heretic.
For most of the crucifixion he was visited by his friends and family, and during the later stages Gabriel joined him to comfort him, and told him - burning with guilt at the deception- that he wasn’t actually the Son of God, but his son. Jesus was actually pleased at this - glad that burden was no longer his to bear, and Gabriel insisted that he had to have believed in being God’s Son in order to create the right effect in fate. Jesus easily forgave him, touched that his best friend was actually his father. At around three in the afternoon, Adam(Death) appeared unseen to Jesus but seen to Gabriel. This had been the first time Gabriel had seen Adam since his Fall from Heaven, and was horrified at his demonic appearance. Adam ignored him (still feeling too guilty of his sin to talk to him), and when Jesus eventually died he immediately took his soul and escorted it up to Heaven (so no demons may be able to snare it somehow).
Once in heaven, Jesus was turned into an angel (etemol) and on the third day since his crucifixion, the angels returned to earth with him for his ‘resurrection’ [in fact he just returned in his angel form]. After visiting his friends and family, he said goodbye to them and returned to Heaven to serve Jahovah, his purpose fulfilled.
Jesus as an etemol angel is unique in that the injuries of his death are almost permanently part of his appearance. He has the ‘stigmata’, the wounds from his Thorny crown and the slash wound on his side. This is because so many millions of people centre their religion around his crucifixion and death (and therefore these wounds) that they became an integral part of his existence. He’s always joked as to why the moment in his life he’s rather forget most has been remembered by so many.
He appears as an Asian(sort of Arab) man of 33, with thick, wavy black hair, dark brown eyes, white wings, a thin golden halo and the stigmata.

Misc

--Notes on the Transition to the ‘Afterlife’--
When a mortal creature dies it has many options available to it.
Primarily, as a mortal lives it builds up a certain degree of ‘virtue’ and ‘evil’ due to its actions. These actions influence the rest of the world through either a loose form of Karma, or through direct action -(eg a woman helps a homeless man, he in turn turns his life around and become a millionaire, he does charity work, many other people benefit etc).
When a mortal dies it has the possibility of reincarnation. For non-inteligent beings this is the default, and what form you take next time is determined by how much ‘virtue’ you collected. (eg a dog that has been good may turn into a human. A bad dog may turn into an insect.) Reincarnation of this form requires very little or no interference by the deities at all.

The second form of afterlife is less common. Especially good or especially bad individuals have the option of moving to Heaven or Hell.
I say, ‘option’. What I should say is that they are brought to either by an outside being.
Perhaps a billion years ago or so the God of Death/’Grim Reaper’ [Adam] was created, and the way things worked changed.
Now when a soul dies it is left drifting in a sort of coma-like state of limbo. It can either remain in this state or, in rare cases when the soul was particularly disturbed before it died, it can turn into a ghost. These souls can do nothing (except be reincarnated) until the Grim Reaper releases them form this state. As many souls are afraid of death and change, they often stay in these shapeless forms rather than reincarnate - hence why the Grim Reaper is needed to nudge them on their way.
However, in such a shapeless state a soul is extremely vulnerable. It is here that Hell goes to work. Demons are often scouted out to harvest as many of these souls (they can only touch those tainted/evil ones)as they can and drag them back to Hell. This is why Satan and Beelio have special interest in incapacitating Adam (the Grim reaper) for as long as possible. Without Adam doing his job, the souls are vulnerable to collection.
When Adam (the Grim reaper) is able to operate; he frees the souls form this shapeless state and sorts them to where they shall go - reincarnation or Heaven. Hell was never supposed to be a destination for souls. An evil soul would be reincarnated. A good soul could choose to go to Heaven. It was only the unnatural intervention of Demons which created the legend of Hell as a damned place of torment for humanoid souls.

---Notes on Angelic/demonic Death---
The important thing to remember about angelic/demonic death is that an angel/demon can only be killed by intention. What this means is that if you stab and Angel/demon with the intention of only wounding it, no matter whether you stab the heart or even decapitate it, it will still live. However if you stab/decapitate it with the intention of killing it, it will usually die in much the same way as a mortal will.
However remember this - angels and demons are more powerful than mortals. Thus it usually takes some nifty magic-enhanced weapons/spells in order to attack them, and even then in most cases it only results in ‘exorcism’ (weakening the angel/demon and forcing it back to Heaven/Hell).
It is on angel/demon vs angel/demon combat that this ‘intention’ rule is the most prominent.
A good example of this is the body count form the war in Heaven.
2/3 fought on the side of God, 1/3 on the side of Lucifer.
1/3 of God’s forces died, and 1/3 of the Demons were captured.
NO REBEL ANGELS DIED. Only those on God’s side were killed in battle.
“Why?” You ask? Intention.
Those on god’s side didn’t want to kill the rebel angels, they only wanted to incapacitate them. So that is all that their blows in battle did. (It was bloody and gory, but no one died).
However the rebel angels were fighting all out conquest. They wanted to kill their enemies, and so when those blows connected the angels died.
That was the first ever time an angel died - and the first time an angel ever wanted to kill another.
It is this law of ‘intention’ that makes Hell such a horrific place it they wish to torture you. Because unless they will it, you-will-not-die.
