An open RP for anyone who'd like to join.
Setting: Downtown Durem shopping district, Friday around about 8pm. The night is cold and crisp; if not for the city lights, the stars would all be easily visible in the cloudless sky. It is crowded with shoppers, including those out specifically to shop, and other window shoppers stopping through after a late dinner.
Stepping off of the bus, Lucretia drifted slowly down the sidewalk, gazing upwards at the tinsel and other decorations twined around the street lamps. Somehow, she manages not to run straight into anyone in spite of her not paying a whole lot of attention to the people around her. A few of them give her disapproving or at least confused looks as they see that the Raevan is out at night in December in a sleeveless dress, wrapped up with... a black bed sheet? The cold did not bother the Raevan, at least. And with her rune more or less hidden, hopefully she would not be recognized.
Her father had told her that Christmas presents were supposed to be surprises, so the best way to shop for him, obviously, was to run away when he was not expecting it. Lucretia would go back in a few hours, maybe, as soon as she found something suitable. And hopefully she would remember to save enough for the return bus fare. But... before she started actually shopping for him, she figured it could not hurt to just wander around a little to take in the Christmas sights.

Niksia wandered through the shopping district, not really taking in the window displays despite her deep expression. Her distinctive red scarf was wrapped around her shoulders and lower face to ward off some of the cold. Somehow she had misplaced her winter coat and was looking for a replacement.
The thought of a few warmer items of clothing crossed her mind as well, only since settling in her home nigh on a year ago did she consider her wardrobe lacking. Black, red, black and more red were sometimes a little disheartening. Niksia just didn't know what to buy, fashion and taste were not high on her list of notable qualities.
Silently dodging the masses of shoppers and fellow window gazers, she ran a gloved hand through her red hair. If only to get a better look of the decorated windows, that still didn't quite hold anything that took her fancy.

Jae Eun adjusted her scarf as she stepped off the campus bus from Durem University to the downtown shopping district. She had come to love her scarf recently (it was a piano-key scarf!) since her hair was still growing back from Halloween. Well, actually, it had grown back rather fast, but she still enjoyed the comforts her scarf offered her. Bare hands (she had lost her gloves) came up to adjust the purple Skullcandy Lowrider headphones to make sure they kept her ears warm. Slowly, they came down to adjust the collar of her winter coat.
Looking up at the sky, she watched as her breath fogged up around her, and played around a bit simply exhaling. Chuckling as her mp3 player chose to play "Petrouchka," one of her favorite piano pieces, she strode off, absentmindedly looking at the sites around her.

Lukas smiled as the clerk for the shop delicately wrapped up the present in Christmas wrapping paper, the dainty elves on the paper grinning up at Lukas. The present was for his Grandmother, a dainty crystal nativity scene that she had mentioned to him the last time he'd seen her. "That'll be 2000 gold* please." the clerk stated as he finished wrapping looking expectantly at Lukas for the payment. Lukas dug deep into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, a batter old leather thing that was only just held together.
He took out some notes and pressed them into the clerk's hand. "Keep the change." The clerk grinned widely and took the money, "Thank you, we hope you have a merry Christmas!" Lukas nodded and exited the shop, putting the present in his large saddle bag** as he did so. As he walked out the door he bumped into a girl wrapped in what appeared to be a black bed sheet.
Lukas winced, "My deepest apologies, I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing." He quickly took in the girl, she had light blue hair and a pale skin, and just peeking out from the sheet at the back was one ruffled blue wing. Lukas was mildly surprised... But then again Durem was become a home for some strange characters... Take Devin the semi-celebrity tattooist for example...
*I'm not sure if gold is the right currency but seeing as it's set in Gaia I used it anyway >.<
**Well where I live we call bags like this saddle bags...
[[Hope you don't mind that I just happened to bump into you... >.> -shot-]]

Blinking in stunned surprise, Lucretia drifted backwards a little, since it was hard to stumble with no legs. She glanced around for a moment, having been snapped out of her apparent trance, and overlooked the one who had run into her once before actually seeming to notice him.
"Sorry," she murmured quickly with a small bow of apology, edging to the side to get out of his way. As soon as she was no longer an obstruction in his path, though, the Raevan just waited where she was and watched him. Though her father was doing his best to teach Lucretia manners, it still escaped her why her staring was bad. Still, this time, she tried to pay half a mind to the people around her.
After a moment of just watching, though, she inched closer again and asked him, "What did you buy?" Maybe if she saw what other sorts of things people ordinarily got for Christmas, Lucretia could get a better idea of what to purchase for her father. She had helped him buy presents for her siblings, but... somehow the Raevan doubted that Kumoru would enjoy toys.

"Me?" Lukas queried, wondering why a stranger would ask him such a thing but he answered anyway, "Well I bought a crystal nativity set for my grandmother..." He pointed to the display of the set in the window, the light twinkled off the cut crystals and it looked angelic in it's own right. "What are you planning to buy?" he asked in return.

Niksia paused in her window gazing, if only to stop from bumping into the pair that were halted in the middle of the pavement. She adjusted her scarf around her face as she listened with half an ear.
The man wasn't as remarkable as some she'd seen, but she took note of the piercing in his ear she could see. The woman was... Was her skin really as blue toned as it looked? Niksia glanced down, getting a strange sense of deja vu. Hmmm. She raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, for the time being.

As Jae milled about on the street, a shiny glint caught her eye. Eagerly, she jogged up to it and pressed her hands against the glass, not really thinking about the smudges she would end up leaving on the window display. Her breath fogged up the window in front of her as she gazed at the sparkling crystal nativity in front of her.
Without thinking, she started talking in Korean to herself out loud. "[Wuah~ It's so pretty!]" she cooed, tilting her head a bit in curious awe.

Lucretia nodded slowly at the man's response, though she had no idea whatsoever what he was talking about. She was also not entirely sure what he meant by his 'grandmother' - she had a father and siblings at home, and had ascertained after a few awkward exchanges that most families also had a mother, but relatives beyond that were unheard of to the Raevan. It seemed like one of those questions that would be rude to ask a stranger, though, so she did not ask him to clarify.
"I don't know what I want to buy," the Raevan replied in response to his question. "Something for my father, though." She paused a minute, then pointed shyly at his bag. "Can I see the ... thing you bought? To see if it's something my father might like?"
She was getting a vague feeling like someone was staring at her, though, and so Lucretia adjusted her black sheet a little, hoping it still kept her glowing rune hidden. Hopefully she could at least find a suitable store soon, and take some refuge in there from the eyes of all of the passers-by.

Lukas nodded slowly, he was a little confused why a person he'd never met previously wanted to see his presents. "Ok, but it's fragile... Why don't we find a place to sit so I don't have to risk it getting broken." he stated striding across the street to a small bench next to a group of carollers that were bellowing out away in a manger. He gently took his present out of the box and winced... It was all wrapped up... He sighed and decided to unwrap it anyway... The wrapping paper was a bit too gaudy for his tastes anyway.
He peeled off the paper, and crumpled it up in his hands before pocketing it. He would throw it in a bin later. He took the lid off the box that the nativity set was in and showed the twinkling little figures to the girl. He pointed to the crib containing a tiny baby shape, "That's baby Jesus." he stated before moving on to point out Mary, Joseph, the three kings and the angels.

The loud bellowing of singers gave way to the slowing tempo of the music and a lone figure moved forward. Like all the female carollers, she was draped in a long, deep red cloak trimmed with fake white fur to keep the cold out. Yet once she dropped her hood, the distinct shade of violet that was her hair set her far apart from all the others.
Slender digits absently pushed the long tresses over her shoulder as she began to sing in a sultry sort of alto, "I'll be home for Christmas...you can count on me...please have snow...and mistletoe...and presents 'neath the tree..."

Watching closely with interest, Lucretia followed him over to the bench and watched as he unwrapped it. The Raevan's eyes lit up at the sparkling crystal, and she nodded slowly as he pointed out the baby, followed by the other figures.
"It's very pretty," she told him, clasping her hands together as she resisted the urge to touch it. She really had not had any religious instruction, though, as her father was dedicated to the study of magic. "Is he the Christmas baby I've heard about? All of the songs are about him, or Santa. Is Santa there, too?" Lucretia leaned a little closer to study the figures again.
Hearing the voices of carolers, Lucretia glanced over her shoulder at them, then turned her attention back to the nativity for the moment.

He smiled faintly, he enjoyed carols a lot. They were one of the overly commercialised things about Christmas that he actually liked. He hummed along quietly before replying to the girl, "Yes, Christmas is actually all about baby Jesus Christ. It's even named after him Christmas." He smiled and shook his head, "No there's no Santa in the Christmas story, he came later on. He was a really nice man called Saint Nicolas, from Turkey if I remember correctly, he used to throw presents down poor people's chimneys around Christmas. People loved him so much they ma~" He stropped himself before he said 'Made up Santa', "~gave him a magical sleigh and some reindeer so he could deliver presents to people all over the world!"
Lukas gently closed the box and put it back in his bag before standing up. He adjusted his scarf and looked at the girl, her wing was more exposed now as she'd seemed to let her blanket slip while she admired his gift. He was pretty sure she wasn't just a strange teenager in some new fashion trend now... Her skin seemed an odd blueish colour and her wings seemed to fragile and life like to just be a costume. Her features were almost angelic, her expressions filled with childish innocence... *
Trying to prevent himself from staring he started talking again, "So do you have any ideas for what to get your father yet?" he inquired, glancing at the shops nearby searching the windows for idea if the girl asked for some.
* Lukas isn't like perving on her or thinking she's fit or anything, just stating facts. (Just clarifying incase it sound like he was)

Lucretia listened attentively as the young man explained, and nodded slowly when he finished. It was all interesting, but apparently did not change the fact that she had to get something for her dad on her own. They were not poor or anything because they had a house, so Saint Nicolas would not be stopping by the Asahi residence, clearly. Although she would have readily admitted that having a magical sleigh would have been awesome.
He was quiet for a few moments after that, so the Raevan's gaze wandered to the surrounding people, looking for anyone who wore robes like her father's, to see what they were carrying. Everything was all in boxes and bags, though, and no one seemed to be dressed quite like Kumoru; after a moment, Lucretia gave up on that and glanced back at Lukas.
"He's a mage and he likes ghosts and souls and things like that, I think," she told him, fixing him with her black gaze in a way that would have been more than a little awkward for most people. "Do you know what mages usually like? He has a lot of books, but if I got him a book, I'd be afraid he already has it. There are a lot in our house...."
She trailed off as someone with an interesting coat or something walked past, and she turned her head away from Lukas to watch the other person.

Lukas was a little taken a back as the girl listed off her father's job and preferences... A mage? Ghosts? Souls? It was no wonder his daughter was walking around with wings on her back. But when he heard her talk about books he felt a small smile tug at the corners of his mouth. He trotted after her in hopes of con vinving her to get one of his own books.
"Book you say?" he murmured. "Well I'm actually an author, not to sound vain but perhaps he would like one of my own books. They fit nicely into the dark fantasy genre so your father might like them." He paused to let the girl consider it before adding, "I know exactly where they keep them in the book shop so I can help you get them if you want?" He felt a tad ashamed at trying to sell his books to a completely clueless girl... But if her father did like those sorts of things then it would be a good present.
