Hi there everyone! My name is Prophyt Otherwise known as The Crimson Ninja here on Gaia and the Wal-Mart Ninja* at work. I currently am working in the Pets Department of a Wal-mart Supercenter (one that still has live fish) And if ya got any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
* I devised a patch to go on the back of my vest, so it read "How May I Kill You?" instead of "How May I Help You?", and also designed a Naruto-style ninja headband with a smiley face in the middle where the tribe symbol would normally be located

Welcome Prop! Tell me do you wear that entourage to your work? Oh and just to stay on topic, what's your favorite fish?

Nah. I altered it after we started wearing regular uniforms back in June and my favorite fish (which we sell, of course, since I don't usually go into other pet stores) are the regular black mollies

Nice, I'm not to big on live breeders, though I do find Dalmation Mollies and Sailfin Mollies quite appealing. If I ever get my my hands on them, I think I'd love to try endlers, somehow I find them prettier then the guppys. Though I am a fan of wild guppies.

I love sword tails. They make me happy, even if they are all evil, lol. (Mine have been anyway, territorial little buggers )

Mollies can be territorial in large numbers... like the numbers we keep in our aquariums... they like to nibble o.o

Heh, I know about mollies, even in small numbers it happens I guess. I used to have dalmations, and one female got very nippy after she had young. It got so bad we had to bring her back to the store.

Hiya!
Oh you work with fish, that's interesting. (:
Walmart has such a terrible rep for keeping their fish healthy though. I guess it can differ from store to store. How is yours on keeping them in good shape?
The Walmart near me used to have the most disgusting display of tanks I have ever seen in my entire life. One time the sight was so horrific, I actually couldn't help myself from rescuing a particularly dead-looking and parasite ridden goldfish. He was a little ranchu that was just floating around in the tank, a massive anchor worm attached to his rump, and God knows what else.
The woman working in that department thought I was completely mad, and asked me several times if I was sure I wanted that one, and tried to tell me that he didn't look like he would survive the next 5 minutes, much less the rest of the night.
Oh yes. I was definitely sure. Definitely sure I was insane, at least.
Anyway--the little guy survived and I still have him over a year later. Course now that I bragged on his miraculous recovery the little buggar is going to die just to spite me. b*****d. xd
But yeah, I hope your Walmart is much better than mine was! Thankfully they don't carry live fish anymore.

Our old department manager didn't really care about the fish all that much... But he was just looking forward to retirement anyway. We got a new DM back in July and he orders a whole lot more fish to keep the tanks full and we clean regularly and actually have gravel in some of the tanks. We don't really have the time to clean out the dead fish all the time, but we do it at least twice daily and we treat all our tanks for the most common fish ailments...

Glad to hear your tanks are quite well maintained biggrin It's sad when a person neglects his job, regardless of what it is, just because he/she knows he's going to leave it soon.
