Okay, it's history class. It's seventh period. It's the last few minutes of the day.
I was talking to a friend of mine,
explaining the hilarity that Gerard being named third sexiest man of the year,
when Grumpy Kid from the back of the room comes up and joins in.
This conversation ensues:

Moi: "...has AOL lost their mind? Geez."
Friend: "Yeah, Gerard, Johnny Depp, and Orlando Bloom in the same ranking contest? Haha!"
Grumpy Kid: "Hey, Gerard Way, isn't that the guy from My Chemical Romance?"

(It's pretty funny he knew even that since he's such a big Justin Timberlake fan...)

Moi: "Um... yes."
Grumpy Kid: "I heard he got married recently, is that right?"
Moi: "Yeah, he did."
Grumpy Kid: "Oh, so him and his guitarist boyfriend finally did hook up, that's nice."

(I bit my lip so hard at this point, you have no idea rofl )

Moi: "Uhhh... no, no, no, he got married to a woman."
Grumpy Kid: "What? He's not gay? Geez, that guy could be the funeral director for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, good gawd... -walks off-"

Okay, I happen to find this epically hysterical. xDDD
But, in order for this not to be just an excuse for an anecdote,
let's ask some questions:

Have you ever met someone who had a severe misunderstanding about MCR?
Ever have to play on-the-spot rumor control?
Did it result in epic lulz? Or did you want to bitchslap them?

The only rumors/misunderstandings that I've encountered are 'Hey isn't My Chemical Romance that one Emo band?" It makes me so mad. Then they proceed to ask me if I slit my wrist. I'm always. 'One, no they are NOT emo. Two, I don't slit my wrist, back off ********." neutral

i'm convinced that MCR just has more appeal among the older crowd. i'm 26, and no one my age gives me s**t about listening to MCR. in fact, i work with a lady who's 31 and when i mentioned i liked MCR, she said "OMG I LOVE THEM DID YOU SEE THEM IN CONCERT?!"

not for me. my 29 year old sister makes fun of them [she had to take me too see them since i cant go by myself]. so do my parents. i've had to buy every mcr cd behind their back.
and almost all my friends make fun of them nonstop.
but they never take it far enough to seriously piss me off. you know, just stupid gay stuff bout tight jeans and emo.

luckily, I'm blessed with a friend with a MCR obsessed sister, and he seems to like them, too. [actually... he got to the point of memorizing their birthdays so I'd say he has an inner fanboy, too. xD]

and then I've got a few friends to listen to them, and two of them actually went to buy the Black Parade.

this other guy i know has one of their shirts and we talked very very briefly one time about MCR covering Oh MacDonald. xD;

and then, I've gotten "I like Teenagers" like, twice. And "MCR sucks" once.

... but one time I got "wutz MCR?" and I sort of had a *sweatdrop* moment.
