The copper brown dog, nestled beside his mate, his lover, alone in the den. He had not let left it since her return, though she might have, he was almost afraid to. Something compelled him to stay there, to wait there. Jamaa had became quite the mess since the loss of his son. His leg had healed fine and his fever subsided, but the pain of losing yet another family member pained him like no other. First the only daughter and now their vision disabled son...

It would not be long now until Temari would wake.

Gold shimmered in the dawn of the day, raising and expanding, glistening in the light with each breath the being took. The small wild dog's eyes were shut in slumber but her soul and mind were racing through the world in which she slept. Paws barely touching the ground as she ran through her dreams, through fields of stars and gusting clouds, into the open arms and love of her mate.

Too long she had searched for him in vain during her illness. Too long had she searched without finding, only to regain herself and realize that what she'd been looking for... she'd actually left behind elsewhere.

Emerald eyes flashed as golden lashes fluttered open to allow her the ability to see. A deep breath was pulled into the female's lungs and Temari stretched out her muscled legs on the ground slowly, leaning her whole body against Jamaa's for support as she did so.

"Morning, love. Did you dream of running again?" he murred, licking her softly. He, just like anyone else who knew her, knew that she ran a lot. She loved running, she was the fastest in the family and even he couldn't beat her without a handicap.

Jamaa was still as big as ever, bringing on the pounds with more muscle mass and the fat thinning that the only thing that really kept him warm was his fur and the warmth of another. His fur was an absolute mess, without leaving the den, he didn't get to wash much and the little tongue bathing he did, he could not reach everything. Ever since the loss, he had given up on life... that was until Temari and Tahu returned. With tahu's renewed voice and having his mate back, he had things to look forward to, but he was still saddened for letting his mate down once again.

But he tried to be as happy as before. Nosing her, "You smell wonderful, Temari..."

Rolling her small shoulders, Temari glanced up at him, finally having given up marvelling at just how drastic the difference in size between she and her mate was. At one time she'd been amused by how huge he was compared to how small she was, and then she'd found out that he was incapable of running at the same speeds as she was and instantly she was no longer amused.

Nothing should be tethered to the ground any more than the wind should be caught and controlled.

"When don't I dream of running?" Temari replied in her gentle voice, laying her head against his shoulders softly in an almust comforting example.

Unlike what Jamaa must have thought she saw, Temari knew about everything already. She'd known about her son's dissapearance and knew that there was nothing either she nor Jamaa who'd been there... could have done. The thought brought pain to her heart and mind when she let herself set and think on it, however she knew it to be true. Just as there was nothing she could have done to save Kizaki all that time ago.

"Oh come now Jamaa, it's just grass and rainwater you smell." The chuckle she let him hear rolled out of her like a gentle wind and the female rose to her small golden paws slowly, dragging her fur against his teasingly

He nosed her softly with a quiet chuckle. "When you're dreaming of me, of course," he slowly raised to his feet, resting his head upon hers for a moment before stretching, a soft pop echoing from his back and a feral yawn rolled from his maw. Sleep always left a kink somewhere. The one thing he knew about him and Temari was that he was strength and she was speed. However, he was capable of keeping a good pace with Temari if he kept his bursts of speeds in time. If she was fighting him, he would surely lose for he could never land a blow on such fast target.

"I smell you, my mate, myself as your lover, and all that you have been with, our family," he smiled and nuzzled her hard, wanting to feel her more after all this time without her. His tail wagged slightly.

"Where are you going today, love?"

Grinning back at her mate and staunching a protest for the rough way he nuzzled her, Temari licked his muzzle softly. Sometimes with the force Jamaa applied to what he did he was capable of actually inflicting pain to his golden mate, however more often than not she was able to simply roll her shoulders and ignore it. It had become a part of her everyday life after all.

However... had she actually been ignorant to physics enough to offer a fight for Jamaa, Temari would come out the puddle of blood that had 'once been Temari of the Wind' and Jamaa would be fine. His brute strength would demolish her if he put any force into it and there were many a time where Temari was afraid that he would put force to it. Case in point: the time she'd bitten his muzzle hard enough to draw blood and inflict pain.

She'd have been crushed if she were anyone but herself.

This at times made her afraid of him and yet at the same time kept her loving him, for his ability to control his brute strength long enough to have a ghost of a mate, made of nothing but clouds, air and wind with fur binding it together.

Or so it would seem.

"Hmm.... I haven't a clue. Would you like to come with me and choose our path today?" Temari offered, ignoring his previous statement.

Jamaa would never knowingly hurt Temari with the full blunt of any blow. The scar upon his muzzle was one to calm his temper from a previous rampage that had sprouted from Kizaki's pupnapping. Being rough was the way he was, however, how rough he was toward Temari was controlled to an extent, the bare minimum was always used in gestures of affections but often times, that was still too rough for the soft female.

Jamaa murr and rubbed against her, licking the tip of her muzzle. Perhaps it was about time he got out of the den. He had longed thought this was the only place Ryega could remember without his sight. Perhaps... it was how he was going to find his way home. How foolish that was, Ryega was blind, he can't smell or see something within a mountain range, let alone a jungle. Mayhaps getting out of the den was the best choice to make. At least, he could get himself cleaned up.

"I need a bath..."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2007 8:02 pm

"A bath?" The words ghosted from Temari's muzzle in an amuzed way as if to ask him if he were truely serious about what he'd just said. Had she been anyone else she'd have known that he was serious, but half the time she wasn't sure with jamaa, it was all a matter of what mood her dark mate was in.

She'd seen him in his worst of moods... getting baths from places he... really shouldn't have been. Crawling through mud, beating at trees.... Though that was an isolated incident to the best of her knowledge of him.

Turning and smacking her tail against one of Jamaa's large spotted cheeks, Temari trotted out before him and wagged her tail calmly, a smile gracing her gentle face. It was her form of a challenge for her mate. He was too stoic for her at the moment, he wasn't his normal smiling self. Something was wrong of course, but either she hadn't been told or he wasn't GOING to tell her about it. It was really all up to him in the end. However she could make him race her for the time being.

"Come on stud. Chase with the wind." Her voice whispered silkily at him, and with a wink she was gone.

Stud, why does she always call him that? He had no idea why, but the name made him smile, almost encouraged him to do anything she asked of him. it didn't surprise him that she disappeared shortly after her words, after all, she could easily outrun a cheetah if given the chance.

Jamaa's paws dug into hte ground and with a burst of speed, he ran off after her. The dark brown male's body would sway and bounce with each step, suspended in the air for moments at a time just like Temari, but he needed a lot more power to keep himself up as she did. She was small and light, he was big and heavy. He gave a bark into the winds and tried harder to catch up to his mate.

"A bath, Temari, and I mean the water sort!" he remembered how he first met her, his words were horribly pronounced and even the words made no sense when strung together. He had came a long way since the days as a mindless patrol.

As he grew a little closer, he tried to grab her tail, snapping at it playfully.

The wind swirled around the small frame of the lithe wild dog as she danced through it swiftly. Every leap and bound she took was aided by the force of the wind, giving bounce to her steps and glide to her leaps.

"I never said that you WOULDN'T get it now did I?" Temari yelled back to him, her muzzle smiling and her tail wagging behind her to keep him from biting down on it.

A burst of speed suddenly exploaded from her and Temari flew across the savannah at a speed that she wouldn't normally have reached when running with her mate. But the power in her limbs, the strength that had been vacant for so long had finally returned and she was celebrating in her own way. She was celebrating with the wind and thanking it for returning her strength to her from the darkness to which it was sucked.

Jamaa growled playfully as he snapped at her tail just as it swished before his muzzle her fur giving off her decadent scent. Oh how he missed that during her absences. He continued to snap before she dashed off again. She was gonna be impossible to catch! At least for him. He growled and thrust himself forward after her.

"Well, the more I run, I am just gonna get even more dirty!" he called out as he began to feel the moisture collect and cling to his fur. Soon it would mat and he would reek even more than he already did.

No one likes the smell of wet fur. Nor the feeling of it.

He gave another bark and pushed himself after her, glad he was a dog for he wouldn't be able to trace her scent if he ever got lost from her.

... and with these runs, that was quite often.
