The mocha colored leopardess' belly had been slowly edging out until it was quite obviously a problem for the female. She had been quite sure before that there was no way she was pregnant, but then when her belly started to grow so did her excitement. She lazed about near the family's tree most days keeping an eye on the aging youngsters, they were getting old and she was sure that they would be finding young love any day now and running off on an adventure. They may have been her sister's children but she loved them like her own, and hoped that the little leopards growing inside of her were just as fantastic as these ones, albeit she hoped they weren't as whiny or mouthy.
She sat silently near the family's tree watching as a few birds twittered in the tall branches, their bright feathers feeding into her feline instincts to hunt and kill. Grumpily, which was something unlike Ajali indeed, she longed for the freedom to be able to climb that tree and catch one of the lovely birds herself. She felt like pacing or running a race with all of her pent up agression and energy. Sourly she let out a half hearted roar frightening the birds from their resting place.
"Serves you right, snack food," she growled nastily.

Mleli was in a sour mood, still. Since four of her cubs had decided to run off, she'd decided she knew why they went and had no clue where they would go so did not bother going after them. If- no, when they came back, she would deal with them then. In the meantime, she was getting more and more sour about Ajali's presence- for Mleli was the type to hold a grudge for as long as possible. She was still very angry for what Ajali had said, though she put up with her continued living with them for reasons even she couldn't understand. It was harder for Mleli to just up and move away with two cubs, though they weren't quite cubs anymore.
Only a short distance away and on her way back to the tree, Mleli heard Ajali's half-hearted roar and wondered what was up. Not that I care, she thought. She came through the trees to where she could see Ajali by their home, but neither cub was around at the moment. Hmph.
"Tsk, tsk," she said when she strode by, aiming for the tree to climb up, "Have a temper today, do we, Ajali?"

Ajali watched as Mleli made her way through the trees and braced herself for a snide comment, ahh there it was, same old dear Mleli.
"Irritable is all, wanting these cubs to just pop out," she answered, it had been sometime since they talked and Mleli had not commented on Ajali's appearance, she had not never asked. Ajali was a little to vane to think her sister assumed she was getting fat, so it was possible Mleli was ignoring her..or really did think she was fat.
"I'd love to catch one of those pesky birds," she said sickeningly sweetly and feigned a happy smile for her sister. She wanted to bring up the fact that they'd need to get along, or at least she'd like them too for her children's sake..and possibly for Ajali's sake as well. She loved her sister and the family and wanted to bring her babies into a positive environment, with a big family.

"Cubs?" Mleli repeated offhandedly, stopping at the tree trunk she intended to climb and turning to smile sweetly at her sister, "I thought you were just getting fat." It wasn't the truth, but like hell Mleli would say anything else. She'd been ignoring it, and would continue doing so as long as possible. Not only did she not like the idea of mini-Ajali's wandering around, a part of her burned with jealousy when she imagined how she might have leopards. So she didn't comment, she didn't ask, she didn't have to think about it.
"Are you sure that's not it? You are awfully concerned about food right now," she mumbled, glancing off where those birds had flown.

"Pregnancy craving," she spat at her sister and resisted the urge to wince at her sister's brutal honesty and cruelty, "I've been meaning to talk to you about it, but I figured you were busy looking for the little ones." She said this sincerely, not as a joke or snide remark.
"Look, I love you, okay? I know what I said was out of line, I want to put that behind us, for your cubs.." she paused hesitantly, "For mine as well."
Ajali looked Mleli up and down, would she accept this apology, it would be the closest thing she would get to an actual "i'm sorry."

Mleli stood perfectly still where she was, and looked Ajali up and down- her sister had as much venom as she did, she just didn't use it quite as frequently. No point denying it any longer, as long as they didn't have to talk about it much- but it didn't look like she was going to get that part of her wish either. So she had two options, continue to ignore Ajali as she had been for the past several weeks and simply climb up the tree or stand here and talk about it.
"Maybe it is a bit concentrated in the middle to be just fat," she said finally, though still not without some obvious contempt- but for anyone who knew Mleli, it wasn't really unexpected and about as good as it would get on this topic.
"You're right it was out of line," Mleli hissed, not going to have this conversation without a fight, "I suppose your condition was by choice, hm?" She certainly didn't want Ajali to start comparing their situations when she was sure Ajali must have had some say or Ajali would be handling things much worse. Mleli hadn't handle herself very well, especially when she first realized she was pregnant. Ajali showed up after she'd come to terms with it happening.

"A little interesting bit of fun and games never hurt anyone," she giggled at that, "not on purpose, but a very exciting suprise from an interesting adventure." She made it a point to say interesting a few times, she liked that he had mimicked her on that. At least Mleli was talking, this was a start, and if Ajali played everything right it would all work out.
"The girls are getting pretty big, arn't they?" She commented on her nieces happily, she liked to look at how big they were getting and think back to when they were small little balls of fur wandering in a big world, Mleli and Ajali had raised survivors, all of them survivors, "YOU did a lovely job raising them." she added hoping it would help sooth her sisters temperment.

Mleli stared coldly at her sister as she said it was the result of interesting fun and games that she was in the state she was in, she didn't know how else she should react to it. Not pregnant on purpose, but surely she'd known it was possible. Whatever the case, Ajali had established that she'd had a choice in the matter and Mleli tucked away that bit of information so that she could throw that back in her face if ever the need came up, like hell she would let her sister compare them.
"Yes, they are," she said finally, when the subject changed. Mleli didn't care much for commenting on the size of the girls, they were already almost as big as her and Ajali, and Mleli assumed it was due in great part to their lion and divine blood. At the compliment about raising them, Mleli only grunted. Of course she had her doubts, but she was the only one she would accept that from.
She wanted to comment further, but couldn't find suitable words. Instead, she stayed silent and crabby looking.

"What now then? Do we sit here looking aweful and cranky?" She was not quick enough to think of an alternative and assumed greatly that they would end up sitting here looking like an over stuffed and over cooked leopardess and a cranky leopardess for at least an hour.
"I was wondering, maybe the tree will become alittle cramped with my babies, assuming I have a large litter, would you want us to move out?" She hesitated at asking, but thought it curtious to do so, it was afterall Mleli and Kifuno's home first.
"I mean...I really do enjoy living with you and the girls," even if you're sometimes as crazy as I am, she kept that bit to herself of course.

Awful and cranky were not adjectives one might care to use around a leopardess who was both of those things, for it would only make her worse. Mleli managed to only grit her teeth and not tell Ajali to move out simply for that remark (and the fact she'd love to do it since she was still angry about her sister being pregnant).
"You can stay," she said, through her gritted teeth, then relaxed her jaw before continuing, "It can't get much more crowded than it was, after all."
Six was a big number, if Ajali had six herself.. well, that'd make 8 cubs living with them and that hardly sounded like a big difference after managing 6 before.

"Suppose it wont be that much more, I...want to say thank you for taking me in an all, even though I really didn't give you a choice," she chuckled, "How about a swim?" She suggested, water was good for cooling the body and possibly the mind.
"Have you thought of maybe..have more?" She meant cubs of course. The thought of many children made Ajali happy and she looked down at her stomach contently, more would never hurt anything.

Mleli didn't seem to be in enough of a good mood to humor her sister on discussion of how she'd forced herself upon the family and asked about the idea of more cubs. She only rolled her dark eyes and turned to the tree, she would not entertain her sister anymore right now.
"You go swim if you want," she grumbled, "I'm staying here."
With that, she carefully started her ascent up the tree- where Ajali could no longer easily get to her to bother her. She could try, but yelling would get tiring after a while.

"See you then," She murmured and with her heavy belly started towards the nearby stream, her body swaying back and forth in a waddle. She knew better than to try her sister's patients sometimes but it was needed for her own sanity to say somethings. Maybe being alone would be good for her, the cool water would soothe her swollen legs and the joints that were straining under the new found weight she carried.
"I know when I'm not wanted," she yelled up at her sister as she wadled, "Love you!" She yelled sarcastically.

Mleli was contently settled up on a tree branch as AJali started to waddle away, yelling sarcastically at her. She rolled her eyes and grumbled to herself, content not to bother with her sister again for a little while. She could say she accepted what her sister had done, could accept leopards into their family.. but she wasn't happy about it.
More cubs.. maybe, just maybe..
