Be an example to your men, in your duty and in private life. Never spare yourself, and let the troops see that you don't in your endurance of fatigue and privation. Seriously because people are getting offended at tiny things Christmas sucks.
With "Separation of church and state" there are like no school based Christmas specials on the birth of Christ things, and the churches around here don't seem to like to perform it.
Some feminazi is offended by Santa saying "ho ho ho". The change of slang makes a deep jolly laugh now represent the degrading title of women of ill repute.
People want Santa skinny because he "promotes obesity". Like all of a sudden kids are saying "I want to be fat like santa". Child obesity can be greatly combated by the parents, but parents are too lazy so they want to kill a tradition over 100 years old.
Schools must now call it "winter break" rather than Christmas because some religions like Judaism don't observe Christmas and Jehovah Witnesses don't celebrate any holidays.
The "Christmas tree" is now the "winter holiday tree" once again for the reasons previously mentioned.
I know these are all little things and not all places are forcing this change, but because whiny people find it "offensive" we have to make all people conform. Someones going to want the children to dream of "sugar free plums" to help fight obesity. They're going to want the candy cane banned because of the whole thing about the inverted candy can being a "J" to represent Jesus. People will want gift giving removed because it encourages people to be greedy.
The gift giving is already turning to crap. 130 years ago you could buy your 13 year old son a rifle for Christmas. Now you can't even get them a disk gun because they might "shoot out their eye". The problem is that parents don't want to bother with the potential risks of the gift, and they're too lazy to teach their kids anything so the only logical solution is to not give them the potentially dangerous gifts. So many of the guys who are joining the military are handling guns for the first time in their lives so the military has to teach them everything.
Anyway if people keep getting offended about every little thing with Christmas then you might as well just ban the holiday since there will be nothing to celebrate.
Always be tactful and well-mannered and teach your subordinates to do the same. Avoid excessive sharpness or harshness of voice, which usually indicates the man who has shortcomings of his own to hide.

Rommel_Desert_Fox Be an example to your men, in your duty and in private life. Never spare yourself, and let the troops see that you don't in your endurance of fatigue and privation. Seriously because people are getting offended at tiny things Christmas sucks.

Of course the schools don't preform them. Not only is it religious (Which you know is illegal for schools to endorse), do you really think non-Christians want to spend hours every day on something they think is ridiculous or hear about it every day on the announcements? Not that schools care about minorities, usually. The ones I've been in have choir that sing mostly Christmas, Easter, and Channikah songs. neutral Plus there's a Christmas tree in our lobby and a "Santa's Hat Day" where students are allowed to wear Christmas related hats only.
Think of it this way, if you were surrounded by people saying you're wrong, we don't care about what you think or want wouldn't you be offended and angry?
Quote: Some feminazi is offended by Santa saying "ho ho ho". The change of slang makes a deep jolly laugh now represent the degrading title of women of ill repute. Now that's nuts. eek She's probably diverting anger. Even the nastiest teenager knows "Ho ho ho" is no different from "ha ha ha".
Quote: People want Santa skinny because he "promotes obesity". Like all of a sudden kids are saying "I want to be fat like santa". Child obesity can be greatly combated by the parents, but parents are too lazy so they want to kill a tradition over 100 years old. Who does? Most Santas I see have pillows stuffed under their jackets or are just to skinny to do so without looking ridiculous.
Quote: Schools must now call it "winter break" rather than Christmas because some religions like Judaism don't observe Christmas and Jehovah Witnesses don't celebrate any holidays. ...Because they're being let out to rest during the winter when months of school has tired everyone out, not because they're given two weeks to celebrate Christmas?
Quote: The "Christmas tree" is now the "winter holiday tree" once again for the reasons previously mentioned. No it's not. It's a Christmas tree, decorated indoors pine trees aren't part of other holiday, at least not that I know of.
Quote: I know these are all little things and not all places are forcing this change, but because whiny people find it "offensive" we have to make all people conform. They're going to want the candy cane banned because of the whole thing about the inverted candy can being a "J" to represent Jesus. People will want gift giving removed because it encourages people to be greedy. ...Where are you getting this? The candy cane was originally red and white for Jesus Christ but it was a short, straight stick. You want it secular? Don't put chemical dyes in it! Children don't think "Oh, a lovingly crafted symbol of Jesus's sacrifice!" they think "Whoo! Sugar!" Good muses, it's junk food!Quote: The gift giving is already turning to crap. 130 years ago you could buy your 13 year old son a rifle for Christmas. Now you can't even get them a disk gun because they might "shoot out their eye". Ah, no. It's more that they'll shoot something else and children are prone to at least occasional bouts of spiteful or cruel behavior. Let's not enable abusers, eh? They're usually the kindergardeners that want projectile weapons.
Quote: The problem is that parents don't want to bother with the potential risks of the gift, and they're too lazy to teach their kids anything so the only logical solution is to not give them the potentially dangerous gifts. So many of the guys who are joining the military are handling guns for the first time in their lives so the military has to teach them everything. Correct, no childhood training means they'll not know how to wield deadly weapons. The majority of Americans do not serve in the military or in posts that require them to use guns. Plus recriational use of guns is wasteful and outdoor ranges get polluted with metal and paint chips. Don't get me started on hunting or the counter productive efforts of "peace by fear of destruction".

Always be tactful and well-mannered and teach your subordinates to do the same. Avoid excessive sharpness or harshness of voice, which usually indicates the man who has shortcomings of his own to hide. And here I thought Christians were celebrating Jesus Christ's birth three months before it really would have been because Christian Romans needed something to replace Saturnalia! If you're so upset by how others celebrate Christmas, why not ignore them and their traditions and lead by example? Seems like something you might do.
