Normally I list players in thread title; however due to there being something of a small chaos.. I decided to put it here:
Ness, all her smidgeons, gifts for Liang and Twilight
Liang and Twilight themselves

There they went, trotting or flapping along. Ness was skipping along the field happily. She was on her way to the home of one of her most favorite numas ever. She was gleeful and occassionally spinning in circles. Her deer, bunnies, and bird were all following.
She was feeling quite on top of the world. She was always feeling a tad lonely lately despite seeing more of her friends more often. Sometimes, no amount of people can replace the feeling of seeing someone so dear to the heart. Ness had been feeling quite this way when she decided to take some of the critters she had over to give away. She had one.. well, she had several. Still, she wanted to spread the joy. She brought one for Liang too. She stopped to think. Boy.. that little girl is probably all grown up by now...
Then, she started to pick up her pace as she speed up running towards the house. she couldn't wait to get there. She snuggled one of her own rabbits as they were nearly there. She kept giggling. The rabbits were all hopping about excitedly as well. The deer followed up behind, birds resting on the heads of the deer.
She bounced up and down outside the cottage. She pressed the bell of the home, and she jumped back all bouncing up and down. She covered her mouth which kept wanting to giggle and laugh as she was pulling off a major surprise.

There was a bit of yelling from inside the house, and a voice could clearly be heard shouting "I'll get it!" Following that was a good deal of clatter, and the distinct sound of something breaking. Surely whatever was happening in there, it was causing quite a ruckus.
Several seconds later, Graciela opened the door with a somewhat tired look. Her dress was unusually rumpled and strands of her black hair stuck out at odd angles, but she just brushed them back and smiled at the guest. "¡Hola! Me llamo Graciela- my name is Graciela. ¿Y tu? What is your name, señorita?"
In the background, the noise only grew louder, and there was a repeated yell of "Let me go! Let me go!" Graciela tried her best to ignore it, but it was clear that the volume level, at least, was starting to get to her.

Ness fluttered her wings a bit but didn't fly. She rocked then back and forth on her heels. "Hola Seniorita Graciela.. Um... Je suis es... Ness!" She beamed. Totally not spanish.. french in fact. Ness had heard it somewhere she couldn't remember. One would think she learned spanish from Beatrice, but not a chance! She didn't know a lick of it. She tried to peer inside at all the noise, her turtledove fluttering back to the deer away from the racket.
"Hey um... Is Twilight home? I came to wish him Merry Christmas!" She was smiling and gleaming from ear to ear. Her tail was all in a twirl. She was most certainly excited. She hoped he was there. She giggled to the thought of if he somehow got himself stuck to a christmas tree or something like that.

At first Graciela was confused, but it didn't upset her in the least. In fact, she beamed with excitement. "Un otro lenguaje- another lanuage! What is this? I have never heard it before, but it is very pretty!" She had the feeling that she had, in fact, heard it somewhere... but she couldn't remember where, or when, or any of those details, so it was as good as new to her.
When she actually rewound the conversation in her mind and heard the name, Graciela seemed to smile even wider. "Ah, ¡Señorita Ness! I have heard so much about you, I should have known right away!" With a knowing wink she stepped back inside and waved a paw invitingly. "Por favor- please, come inside! They will be so happy to see you!"
The inside of the cottage was a bit cramped, and simply but cozily decorated. There were a few finger paintings tacked onto the walls that led to the main room. It didn't feature much- a couple of wooden chairs and a table, me pillows, and several boxes of varying sizes and shapes. One of them was open, and a few different fabrics spilled out of it. Graciela went to this one, since it was clear that she had led the guest to her proper hosts.
Liăng Yí was sitting not on one of the chairs, but atop the table itself. Her hat was askew, her eyes were shut tight, and she was wriggling and trying to get free. "No, let me go!" she shouted, kicking her legs wildly. "It's gonna hurt!"
"It will not hurt," Twilight insisted crossly. He had Graciela's sewing scissors in one hand, and was trying to get them near Liăng Yí's head without stabbing her. "It's just- oh!" When he saw Ness he all but dropped the scissors, and he let Liăng Yí go instantly. "Ness! I didn't know you were coming today!" He looked a bit embarrassed, and tried to hide the scissors behind his back.
Peeking through squinted eyes, Liăng Yí looked around. "Oneesan!" she shouted, all but jumping off the table. "You came to play again, didn't you?"

Ness had followed Graciela inside. "Oh really? You know me already huh? Heh.. It's almost like visiting family or something. ^_^" Once inside, she looked around. Then, her eyes were drawn to the little situation going on. Boy, Liang sure had grown. She looked mostly the same, but just bigger and much more glowy. Ness nodded to herself.
Then, she turned her head to look around something. She smiled instantly, and her wings spread out wide when she found her Twilight. "HI GUYS! I AM GREAT! IN FACT, I brought a surprise with me.. but... it's outside!" She stood there getting rather excited. She started to ball her fists and gitter all about. Her tail started to sway back and forth; it was all she could do to stay on the ground and not flutter up into a circle a few feet up.
"COME! Let us go out and see it?" She looked at Graciela. "You can come too. Since you live here, I'm sure you'll be much affected by the surprise as well. I'm glad I met more of Twilight's family. This is very nice."

"A surprise? Oh, goody!" Liăng Yí hopped off the table and would have run right out the door, had Twilight not caught her by the back of her frilled shirt. Scowling, she turned around. "What is it, oniisan?"
Twilight just sighed and showed her the scissors. "Did you forget? You can't go anywhere until we get those thorns out of your fur, or you might really hurt yourself." Turning to Ness, he smiled- with a bit of a blush, perhaps- and explained "Liăng Yí landed in a thornbush, and we're trying to get the last of the thorns out before they hurt her."
Liăng Yí frowned and started kicking again. "No! It'll hurt if you get me with those! Don't let him do it, oneesan!"

Ness stood there thinking and looking around. Then, she looked at Graciela. "Do you happen to have a sewing needle? I bet I can help! My friend's sister used to get stuck in them when she was little. I bet I can help.. but maybe not scissors.. since.. they are kind of big..."
She walked over to take them gently from Twilight trying to insinuate herself discretely between the scissors and Liang. She could see Liang wasn't about to have any of it. And, if they took all day with this, they'd never get their surprise. "But, after we get that thorn out.. I hope you guys were gonna hug me. I can't believe I came all this way.. and you guys weren't gonna love on me. crying "

In truth, the only reason Twilight hadn't rushed over to Ness right away was the fact that he knew Liăng Yí would get into a heap of trouble if he did. And he would get yelled at for it. It wasn't that he didn't like kids, or girls, but this one was so loud and bossy! He liked ones that liked him a lot better in the long run. At least he had someone fantastic over now. "I promise," he said seriously, putting the hand that wasn't holding Liăng Yí over his heart.
Liăng Yí just sniffled and looked up at Ness. "Are you sure it won't hurt, oneesan? It's not like I'm scared or anything," she added quickly, "but they look so sharp."
"I am sure Ness and I can take care of it," Graciela interjected, taking the scissors from Ness before they hurt someone. She handed Ness a long sewing needle that had a bit of purple thread in it instead, and put one paw firmly on Liăng Yí's shoulder. "It will hurt if you move, so stay still, por favor." She smiled at Ness and moved over so they could both see the area that they were concerned with, near the back of the girl's neck, with two large thorns stuck in firmly.

Ness peered in closedly. She felt around the spots where they were in to get an idea of how deep and which way they were pointing. "Oh my... Li-love, you sure got yourself a doosy huh. How many of these did you have before this? Twi says these are the last two?"
She made a hushed tsk sound. Then, she took the sewing needle and slid it into where one of the thorns were at. She smiled to herself at the promise of hugs and love if they could get this done. She also felt excited as she was part of a group of girls.. saving another girl. Was this like real female bonding? She was saving someone. She did like to do that. Made her feel like the showoff she really was.
At one last pitstop before pulling them, she looked at Graciela. "Maybe we should give her something to bite on just in case! Cuz, we're ready to go.. Liang.. it might sting just a little.. but if you don't move... it shouldn't hurt too bad. And... just remember.. You have a nice surprise waiting for when we finish! There's only two!" Nurturing like this.. Even as a more grown up numa, Liang made Ness feel all these motherly and mature feelings.

Sniffing once more, Liăng Yí tried to stay as still as she could. "Six," she mumbled. "They came out with pulling, but it hurt! And these wouldn't come out at all," she pouted. Everyone was treating it like it was her fault. How was she supposed to know that bush had thorns in it, anyway?
Moving with a strange calmness that could only be explained by the graveness of the situation, Graciela tucked the scissors into the open box and rummaged around it, coming out with a rag doll. It was simply made, with yarn hair and button eyes, and wearing a scrap of flowered fabric as a dress. "Mira, chica," she murmured, putting the doll in Liăng Yí's hands. "Hold it tightly.
Since there wasn't much that he could do at that point, Twilight stood off to the side and watched. He felt a bit bad that he wasn't helping, but he hadn't really wanted to help in the first place. He was, however, hugely proud of Ness for taking command of the situation. It only went to show how strong she was- and how much he could stand to improve, in a way.
"I'm... I'm ready," Liăng Yí said, clutching the doll tightly.

Ness took a deep breath. "Ok everyone.. hold onto your butts.. I'm going in!" With that, she had the needle in place and with quite some ease, she slid the thorn out. She had to stick the needle somewhat deep inside though to get it in to where the thorn would come out that well. She looked up to Liang for a brief second to see how she was holding up.
She pointed to the open spot for Graciela to put something on it to cover the wound. Then, Ness looked at the last remaning one. What a toughie... it had been in there good. It looked to be tangled with fur and a piece of strand from Liang's shirt. To make matters worse, she had a pickle of a time finding a good spot to get the needle in without just pushing it through a bad spot. She looked at Liang again. "Ok.. this one is going to hurt a little... just hold on tight to your doll...."
Her tail had stopped wagging, and her eyes were steady and focused. She had to do this.. just one more... she just started to poke and prod the skin on top of the thorn, treating it like a splinter. She had gotten many a splinter on her feet and hands during the summer. Especially after her brawl at the swampside cafe. She learned how to prod stubborn slivers. She kept at it. Probably a good half hour passed as she prodded it until it popped out of there. Ness caught it in her paw. She hoped that was all of that thorn.. the end of it looked odd... She held it up for Graciela to see.

Liăng Yí managed the first one fairly well, just wincing as it slid out. Her paws gripped the doll tightly, threatening to rip it, and her face was scrunched up, but otherwise she seemed fine. The second one took a lot of prodding, and she was starting to lose her patience, but each poke was really just a tingle. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after a-
"Owww!" she howled as the second one came loose. "That hurt!" Eyes watering, she grabbed the doll and buried her head in Graciela's skirt. At least SHE hadn't done anything that hurt. At least, not that day.
Graciela busied herself patting Liăng Yí on the head gently and wrapping a linen bandage around the wounded area, murmuring soothingly all the while. Once the bandage was in place she took the thorn and examined it carefully. "Hmmm? ¿Que es eso? What is this? It does not look like the other ones..."
Twilight came up behind Ness and squeezed her shoulder gently. "Thanks a lot," he whispered. "You really saved the day." Liăng Yí would be a bit upset for a while, but it was better than the alternative, and she'd get over it. Moreover, now that the whole ordeal was over, they could get down to having some fun!

Ness smiled and put a paw of her own on top of Twilight's. She closed her eyes with a smile for a moment. Somehow he must have started to know that she liked to help people. She started to think back on all the times she was rescuing him out of sticky situations. It almost made her feel like she was his angel. It was a passing whimsical thought, but it will filled her with all sorts of warm and fuzzy feelings. Ones that made her tail twist upwards behind her, brushing up against him.
"Of course, I would help. Liang is my little sister... right?" She patted softly at Liang's side. She looked over at her with apologetic eyes. She had been trying her best to be gentle with her. She wanted to help get it over with. Just leaving them in there weren't gonna do nothing but make it worse anyways. "Oh, Liang... Please come hug me, so you know that I did my best, ok?"
And, then her mind started to catch up and switch gears. "Yeah ok? And.. then we can go outside... don't forget! Oniisan brought a surprise for you! There is one JUST FOR LIANG!"

"She seems to think so, at least," Twilight snorted. But he wasn't angry, not really. In a way, he was a little bit jealous. It wasn't that he minded not being the "baby" anymore- really, he'd never wanted that position. But Liăng Yí had a tendency to hog the spotlight, and whether it was intentional or not, she was very good at it. Usually he didn't mind, but when Ness was around, it made him feel just a bit out out.
Wiping her eyes on Graciela's skirt, Liăng Yí looked up again. Really, Ness hadn't meant to hurt her. And if the thorn had stayed there, it might've been serious. She knew this, but that didn't mean she wasn't allowed her tantrums. But the tantrum time was over, she supposed. "Well... since you said please," she replied coyly before almost running into Ness headlong. "Thank you, oneesan!"
Then she giggled. "No, oniisan is oniisan," she corrected, pointing to Twilight. "And oneesan is oneesan." Liăng Yí did like like being right. But then she realized what Ness really said, and shrieked. "A surprise! Let's go let's go!" And with that, she ran for the door.
Twilight sighed, but let it go. Maybe a surprise would divert Liăng Yí's attention for a while, so that he could have a little time with Ness. "I have to say, I'm curious," he murmured as he led Ness to the door. "And definitely surprised!"

Outside, the deer had sat down on the ground, and the rabbits were nibbling on pieces fo grass and flowers outside the cottage. The little turtledove was perched on top of a deer's hat. There was a squirrel also sitting on a deer, but one almost couldn't see him because the deer had almost same colors.
Ness watched them all as they found the forest critters outside in their holiday gear. "Ok. These aren't all for you guys. Most of them are mine. I dunno.. I woke up one day, and there they all were hanging outside my house. My human says that one of those white deer belong to Silverglow, but we might build a small patio between the cottages anyways..."
She swirled her tail upwards again as she felt really excited to share this with everyone. She decided to bide Liang first. She went over and picked up the little brown female bunny. She carried her over to Liang. "Merry Christmas Liang. I brought you a special friend! Isn't she pretty?"
Then, Ness looked up over at Twilight. Hopefully, Liang would get preoccupied playing with her bunny and all of ness's critters... Maybe her and Twilight would be able to steal some time for just them. That was after all the real reason she had gone there. It was always her reason for going over there.
