RP Log for Raylan and Izulu
Raylan frowned as she lay next to the waterhole, staring at it like it was probably her worst enemy. The past few days had been wonderful. Being with Enok, not worrying about any of it anymore, and knowing that she had a mate and a family (even as strange as it was) made everything worthwhile. However, this morning she had woken up not feeling too great. She thought it might have been the funny creature they had found for a meal last night - it looked strange. She frowned, shutting her eyes against the water. She was thirsty, but even the thought of it was making her stomach turn flips.
"Heylo rayrayray-ray." Izulu hummed as she trotted past her to take a sip from the water at the waterhole. It was a lovely morning, she thought, as lovely as anything could be with the dratted Ivy Legions everywhere. Damned plants. She snorted and lifted her maw from the water. After wiping it once with her tongue, she turned to look at her sister and grinned, "You've been down here awhile, we thought."
The sound of her 'sister' made her open an eye, the silly pet name coming out of her mouth making her smile somewhat. However, as soon as Izulu leaned down to get a drink of water, she shut her eyes with a small groan. The sound of drinking didn't help and her ears simply wilted, her paw moving to try and cover the one closest to Izulu. "I don't feel good," she said quietly, opening her eyes with a small frown on her lips, glad that Izulu was done drinking, "I think I must have eaten some bad meat." Although, if she was sick from the meal, shouldn't everyone else be to? Ah well, she didn't care right now.
"Bad meat?" Her ears lifted, "I don't think there is sucha thing.. though the maggots looked a bit iffy on that frog earlier." Izulu flopped down beside her as the norm, "But they were good. Cubbins like maggots apparently... " She sniffed her friend, "You don't smell sicks."
She groaned at Izulu's idle chatter, knowing the hyena didn't mean anything by filling her head with horrible images, but it still made her cringe and squeeze her eyes shut again. "That doesn't sound very good," she muttered, "why did you eat it if it looked iffy?" She was trying to talk. Talking seemed to help - as long as it wasn't about maggot-infested frogs at least. "I don't know then," she said with a frown, thumping her tail against the ground quite irritably, "I just know I don't feel good. My stomach has felt bad since this morning." She chanced a glance at the water hole again, wanting to quench her dry throat, but frowned and looked away immediately.
"Because the babies demanded it," Izulu explained slowly, though her tone made it obvious that she thought the answer itself SHOULD have been obvious. "Why else would I eat a maggot-infested frog? ... other than the fact that it was good." She paused, staring at her. "You feeelllll maybe.. sick. At everything like food, I mean?"
Raylan groaned at the thought of the frog she kept mentioning, but she figured that would have made her queasy to think about even if she wasn't already sick. "I don't see how babies can demand food," she said quietly, but she also realized that she had never been pregnant, so she couldn't know for sure if they actually did that or not. "Yes, at food, and at that water I want to drink too," she said with a frown, trying to push the image out of her head. She thought it wouldn't have been half so bad if she wasn't so thirsty.
"You must be pregnant." Izulu grinned. CLEARLY that was the only reason that maggot-ridden-frogs would ever make anyone nauseous. It all made sense, now, and she barked merrily. "ENOK AND RAYRAY OFF IN A BUSH, H-U-M-P--BUTTERFLY!" Oh there it was again! The hyena let off her chatting and got up to go chase it down.
Raylan's eyes widened considerably as Izulu said that, and despite the fact that her stomach told her not to, she jerked upright into a sitting position. It took only a moment for the nausea to settle back down to a bearable level again before she looked at her. She felt heat rising in her face again as Izulu began her little chant, and was once again glad of that random butterfly. It hadn't gone quite like that, she was sure those nights with Enok had meant more to the both of them than she could explain to her but that still didn't get rid of Izulu's explanation of her stomach. "Pr-pregnant? Are you sure that's what it is Iz?"
Iz skidded to a halt nearby, distracted again from her prey. She stared at her friend a moment, trying to figure out what had distracted her. it dawned her a moment later, as obvious by the way in which her very body seemed to go 'oohhh right!!' and she grinned and pranced back over. "Yep! It happened to me too!" She smiled proudly, "First everything makes you sick all the time, and then suddenly you start wanting to eat EVERYTHING, even things that you would never eat before! ... like ivy," She whispered the last, leaning in close to make the proclamation with plate-wide eyes. That was probably a fate worse than death to this one.
She smirked, unable to help it, as Izulu confided in her over the thoughts of eating ivy. She did, however, glance at the water then back at Izulu. "Well, I definitely feel really sick right now - but all I really want is a drink of water." Her frown came dangerously close to a pout, as close as Raylan would ever let herself, before she finally nodded. "I guess.. you're right," she said slowly, her frown vaguely turning into a smile. She was too sick to bounce around happily, "which means we're both having cubs."
....... "OH MY GOD WE'RE BOTH HAVING CUBS!" Izulu gasped as if she'd never heard this before. The female dropped down onto the ground, stomach hitting it, and stared at her friend in bewilderment. "Who's the father?!"
Raylan laughed softly as Izulu yelled so loudly - the conversation was helping her to take her mind away from the feeling in her stomach. Although, at her next question, Raylan simply furrowed her brows. "Enok, of course," she said slowly, slightly confused at Izulu all of a sudden. However, she did simply shrug it off - Izulu had said stranger and odder times.
Izulu gasped, slowly and deeply and her grin grew broader. "REAALLYYY?!" There was no denying the strangely empty look in her eyes. She seemed totally happy about that and got up again to bounce in place. Suddenly she stopped, going rigid in place. There was a long pause, then she started to run back to camp. "NOCKKYYYYY!!!"
