-- AIM RP between DFA and Felyn (Enok and Raylan) Tail flicking to one side, the male allowed himself to flop down on the floor soundlessly; he needed to get away from the group, if only for a while. Just enough to allow him to think for a while. Granted, thinking wasn't precisely his forte, but at least he was trying; points for trying, he figured lamely, his head coming to rest on top of a bolder, his golden eyes fixed upon the small pool of water that lay to his side. It reflected the clear moon that hung harmlessly in the sky, however...the scenery didn't seem to make him feel any better. In fact, it was merely distressing him further, if posible; he'd never thought it posible, but the longer and harder the two hyenas cackled and pried into his private life, the more he felt wishing what they said was true. He wasn't dumb enough to believe it thoug; would would anyone go with him? He had no real leadership qualities, and was far too laid back to be of interest; even his pelt was boring, he thought as he looked into the clear waters.Raylan adored the hyenas, she really did, but she was finding it hard to be able to put up with them tonight - especially Izulu. Don't get her wrong, Izulu was very sweet, but the words that kept coming out of her mouth were making her a little uncomfortable. She had long since left to go on a little stroll, slinking across the moonlit earth, eyes studying the pale orb overhead as if it held all her answeres. She was troubled, in both heart and mind, and she couldn't find it in her to reason why. She'd never needed to feel loved before, never wanted to get attention from someone like she wanted to now. She sighed, strolling towards the reflective surface of a pool of water, and dipping down to get a drink. Of course, it wasn't until she was right on top of him that she saw the dusky brown figure of Enok. "Oh," she exclaimed, jerking back from the pool so quickly that droplets of water were sent flying from her maw, "I didn't see you there." Her ears drooped slightly and she gave him a timid, weak smile. He was just as surprised by her entrance as she was, the male jerked slightly, his claws coming out to grace the rock and earth before he settled back down into the same relaxed pose, a breath of air escaping through his nose. Unknowingly, poor Raylan had just said the last thing Enok had wished to hear; his ears flattened back into his mane, his eyes trobled before he tore his gaze away from her form. Of course she hadn't seen him... he was probably invisible to her. A lump; meaningless no doubt. Offering her a small, almost awkward smile, the male finaly turned his attention back on her, "Don't worry on my account; I was just out to get a bit of fresh air..." a pause followed, fear haunting at the back of his mind, "Were you going somewhere?" oh dear lord; the hyenas had finaly run her out and away from them; he just knew it was that, "Don't listen to them; they mean well..." too good to be true though.Raylan would never have known the fear that Enok was experiencing now. She was blind to her own beauty, and as such, she was blind to any 'boring' coloring he thought himself to have. No, growing up as she did, she had never grasped the difference between pretty and ugly or boring - all she knew was the heart, and had he asked her right then, she probably would have told him his heart was beautiful. "Oh? No!" she said suddenly, sitting down next to the small pool of water - close to him, but not too close. "I was just out here walking, I need to get away from all their talk sometimes so I can.. think." She frowned slightly, looking down from the moon and back to him. What was that funny feeling in her belly? She felt like she had little bugs crawling around in her insides - oh, she hoped she wasn't getting sick. She didn't want him to see her sick. "Why are you out here all by yourself?" Of course, even though Raylan had told him about her childhood (details losely, for she never managed to go into the full story without shaking with fear over a ghost they knew was dead), however, even with such sordid details, Enok still had trouble understanding how her mind worked. He chuckled lightly at her, shaking his head as if to some sort of unvoiced question, "I know what you mean..." he turned his attention to the small pool of water, his paw slowly dipping in, forming circles and ripples on the water; it was clear there was something in his mind, however, he seemed unwilling to voice it, "I'm alone out here because... back there, I couldn't listen to my own thoughts. I needed to think," this said, he turned to look seriously back at her, his eyes hooding somewhat.

"The same as me, then," she said with a timid smile, brilliant eyes turning away from him to stare down at her own reflection instead. Even in that little pool, she could see the moon's reflection, and the bit of light gathered there made her eyes shine. She flickered her tail, uncomfortable in the silence, but not knowing.. what to say exactly. "Izulu thinks she's with uhm.. cubs," she said finally - it wasn't a good subject, really, but it beat not talking to him and letting the silence build. She frowned inwardly at herself for not just saying what she wanted to - she was having an especially hard time grasping why she couldn't talk to him about it. Being ignorant of your own emotions was not always a good thing.
For a response, the male could only grunt at first, a snort, "Hardly strange..." he didn't go into detail as to just why he thought that; both lions knew full well what he'd meant. Most nights it'd been Raylan and himself alone in the den while the Hyenas ocupied themselves er... elsewhere. It'd been mildly disturbing for the black female at first, Enok knew, but she was growing used to it, even someone such as he could see. He figured it paid to have people around you that knew what 'love' meant and had no problem expressing said love in many forms throughout the day, be it with a nuzzle or lick or through other methods, "Lucky bastards," he snorted, but the mirth and chuckle were evident in his eyes and voice; he loved those hyenas, as if they were his own sibblings no less. It was amusing how he'd allowed the one thing that most males fear, slip out so easily; he liked the idea of cubs. Taking his time to look at her, he frowned; she looked troubled. Shoving aside his own pride, the male stood, and lightly padded the short distance that seperated them, plopping his form against her own, "You look troubled," if she wouldn't have him, at least he'd do everything in his power to make sure she was perfectly alright.
Raylan did smile at his words, mirth in her own eyes. She had been freaked out by a lot of the things the Hyenas had done at first - especially since Izulu's first reaction was to tell her she had nice hips and then drag Oth off to those bushes. It was a rocky start to the strange relationship she had developed with them, but she had, as Enok knew, grown used to them. It never quite stopped her from burrying her head against Enok so she wouldn't have to hear their 'love' though. However, at the thought of Enok wanting cubs, and maybe trying to have them with some other lioness, Raylan felt another large emotion well up - she couldn't say what, but it made her feel very mean. As he plopped next to her, however, it went away and all she could do was lean into him, half propped against him like she did many a night. "I think there's something wrong with me," she whispered finally, eyes narrowing at her own paws as she shifted her head against his fluffy neck.
Had she asked him, not in a million years would have he phantomed that what she was feeling was JELOUSY. That emotion didn't seem to be in her spectrum; in fact, Enok would have sworn over any king's old skull that indeed, Raylan could NOT feel any sort of negative emotion at all. The fact she pressed against him was not missed, but at the same time, was not entirely surprising to him; she's done that many-a-nights. He figured it had to do with whatever past was still haunting her, bitting at the back of her mind, making her feel the need to be protected. Never would have he imagined any other reason, "Wrong?" he frowned then, his brows knitting together as he pondered this, his head falling down till their foreheads were pressed one against the other, "You don't seem to have a temperature; are you feeling sick?" because obviously, it had to be that kind of 'wrong'.
Raylan certainly never harvested mean emotions if she could help it, but there were basic instincts in there that sometimes seemed to come out - perhaps from her father, sadly enough. She still couldn't have placed a name to the emotion she had just felt if she had been asked to, and jealousy was not something she was familiar with at all. Probably even less than love. She smiled as he leaned his forehead against her own, wiggling her head against his some in a playful fashion. "No, I don't feel sick," she said finally, eyebrows furrowed as she tried to explain, "except for the fuzzy feeling in my stomach." She sighed, tail flickering, "Do you think I'm pretty?" That was pretty random - but give her a break, she had been spending a lot of time with Izulu.

Retreating his head from her, he lowered his paw on her forehead, even as she wiggled it against him him in a playful manner, a grin forming on his maw, "No, no temperature," he murmured, more to himself than her, finaly taking his paw back, curling them under his frame; this sort of friendlyness about them was usual. What wasn't.... entirely usual was this 'feeling' in her stomach she spoke of. Indeed, the first thing he thought of was the obvious, and the same feeling of jelousy that she'd felt only bare moments before, invaded him, forcing him to stiffen against him, "Funny? Funny how?" because... he didn't want to ask her if she was pregnant, of all things - and from WHOM?! A pause followed her question though, his jelousy washing away to reveal confussion and surprise. It was a full minute later when his eyes hooded over, his head leaning in again, "No," he answered her, his maw seeking her ear, "I think you're beautiful."
She couldn't have known that he had felt jelously either - even if she couldn't put names to emotions sometimes, she still never expected anything mean to come from Enok. He was just a genle giant, a big fluffy boy that let her cuddle up to him when she was scared or uncomfortable with something. Certainly he could never be mean. "Funny like.. there's little bugs in it, all crawling around or something, even though I know there really isn't," she said with a small frown, shifting against him with a little sigh. However, as his words met her ear, low and allowing the air from his breath to touch it - a very noticeable shiver coursed through her body. If she hadn't been so pitch dark, the blush on her face would have shone like the sun. She finally mustered up enough thought to answer him, the delight in her eyes extremely evident, "Good, because I want you to think I'm beatiful. I've never thought about it before, and I don't think I ever minded, but it seems.. important that you think so." She frowned, saying the words again in her head, making sure it all.. made sense.
Funny how someone as fluffy and cuddly as Enok could think of ripping someone limb from limb if they so dared touch the petite female that lay so comfortable against his side. It was in his genes; his insticts, he figured, however, he wished not to put a name to the feelings out of fear. Surely he couldn't have gotten this attatched; surely there was another answer. But no matter how many times he processed the thought, the lion couldn't bear to believe his own excuses. He knew what he felt, though for now... he pushed the feelings aside for her sake. She'd never want him, would she? He arched a brow down at her, looking partialy confused, surprised even, for there was no way that was how a pregnant female would feel. That worry eased, he went back through his thoughts in an attempt to figure out what she meant. So confused was he, that he missed her innitial reaction to him; he did feel her siver and shudder against him, and unconciously, he moved to drape his neck around her, almost as if figuring she was cold, and were shivering due to the night air. It made little sense to him; the fact he was slow didn't help either, "If it helps, I thought you were the mose beautiful creature I'd ever met, that day I found you; I still do think so," the fact his head was over her neck allowed him to lower his voice to a husky whisper, the sound rumbling against her form
She frowned as she shifted slightly, trying to fix the feeling that was in her stomach. She knew she wasnt sick, but she had never felt that before. It made her kind of anxious, in a way, like she was worried or waiting for something - but that was as far as she could go to explain it. As he shifted, she smiled, relaxing somewhat against his new position. It was nice to be able to be this close to him - but it made the bug-feeling even worse. "You really think that?" she asked quietly, her voice a touchy shakey from simply have his own husky whisper rumbling against her. She wasn't quite sure why it was so appealing to her, but it was making the heat in her face worse, and now the bugs seemed to be bussing around in her chest too. "I think.. I think you are beatiful too, Enok, but not like that. I mean -" she frowned, stopping and staring at her paws. "Your heart is beautiful, if that makes sense, and you make me feel.. like I belong somewhere." She swallowed the lump in her throat, then shut her eyes for a minute, "those bugs are getting worse."
"I do," a pause, then followed by a chuckle as the male shook his head, "I remember, at the time... my mind refused to work well. You broke it, in a way," the chuckle died down soon enough, his eyes closing; so comfortable was he in such a position. Completely, and utterly unaware of his effect on her, Enok had actualy settled down to get some sleep when her voice pierced the silence of the night around them. Slowly, his eyes opened, his ears twitching, but never once did he interrupt as she tried to explain; in fact, he remain rather silent as she spoke, solemnly so. By the time she was done, he'd come to a determination; those words were all what he'd needed to be spurred into action. In fact, it was as if a door had been opened, "I love you," the words were said solemnly against her form, his head not moving from where he'd placed it. The words were rushed, as if he feared he'd not be able to say them if he went any slower. Then slowly, he raised his head and pressed his forehead against hers, his eyes burning into hers, "I love you," as if he needed to emphasise, explain, "No matter if you weren't the most beautiful creature on earth, which you are; I'd still love you."

"I didn't mean to do that," she said quietly, and although there was a smile, her voice did seem rather apologetic, "but I don't know how I did it so I probably couldn't have stopped even if I knew and tried." She smiled , leaning her head on her paws, at least until she heard his words. Just as she pulled her head back up, she found his eyes peering down into hers, and in that moment, she could have sworn he could see her soul. Her eyes filled at the brim with tears, not upset tears, but happy ones - the smile on her face was enough to show that. It was a relief, in a way, to simply hear those words - she had been so afraid he didn't want her. "I love you too, Enok," she whispered softly, shutting her eyes so that the tears made little glittering tracks down her fur, "I was scared you didn't want me, and I think that's what made those bugs come." She swallowed, forcing her eyes back open, "I know that's what it is now - love. You put my pieces back together and.. you're what I was missing all along." She smiled, weakly, but she couldn't stop those happy tears from falling.
It didn't come as a surprise that she was apologising; he was used to her personality. As far as he knew, she'd apologise even when it rained, as if it were her fault. He couldn't stop the small smile that tugged at his maw when the thought passed through his mind. This time, he refrained from telling her it was alright, just like he'd told her it was alright other countless times when she'd apologised. Instead, he closed his eyes, (so bright and lovely were hers that he'd felt the need to block the vision) and purred softly against her forehead for a long moment, basking in the aftermath of his words. It felt good to get them out in the open; he felt as if nothing that could be thrown to him would harm him. He'd told her; no matter the outcome, that's all that counted. Her words caused his eyes to snap open again, for though he'd confessed right up, he'd never expected her to return the feelings; in fact, he actualy gawked at her, rather awkwardly, "Wouldn't want you? Who in their right mind wouldn't want you?" feeling the need to prove this, he leaned in and allowed his tongue to lick at her cheek affectively, his head nuzzling hers. A chuckle rumbled his chest then, "I'll thank those bugs then," he whispered, drapping his form around hers confidently, now that he knew how she felt, "I was missing you too; since the day I opened my eyes into this world," amazing how someone so straightforward could be so romantic; it probably came with his blunt personality, "Don't cry, shhhh..." he leaned in again, brushing the tears from her eyes.
She smiled as he mentioned thanking her bugs, which seemed to swarm to a peak before they finally settled down to where she could barely feel them at all. It seemed that they had served their purpose and gone now. "Then I'm glad we found each other," she whispered, her eyes half lidded as she felt his tongue grace her cheek, "because I wouldn't want to go my entire life without you." However, as she said this, even as he brushed her tears away from her eyes, Raylan couldn't help the laughter that began to bubble out of her mouth. "Enok, she was right all along," she whispered, the mirth swimming in her leaking eyes, her head leaning against his even as she continued to laugh.
"Indeed," he answered her first claim, then blinked, looking mildly confused, "Indeed?" he repeated as she finished talking again and burst into laughter, "What do you mean? Who was right? And why was she laughing? Feeling somewhat lost, the large male tilted his head to one side, looking awkwardly childish. He didn't wish to interrupt her; so lovely did she look with that mirth shinning in her eyes... that laughter bubbling up her throat. It was lovely, needless to say, "You mean Izulu?" he racked his brain in an attempt to understand her words without aid, but simply found himself at a loss, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
The thought that Izulu could have been right only made her laugh a bit more, though it was not uncontrolled or loud - her laughter was soft, kind of dainty. Izulu had pushed for them to get together, but that certainly was not what she meant. After her laughter subsided, she managed to look at him with a straight face - she couldn't help smiling over how adorable he looked when he was lost, though. "No, not Izulu," she said quietly, her words still bubbly from her own laughter, "remember - I told you, that first day, that the wind had told me I would find what I was looking for between the mountains and the jungle." She smiled, letting her tail curl and entwine around his own, "my sister was right. She even told me that cats and dogs really were no different, but at that time.. that didnt make much sense." She smiled, her head tilting, waiting to see if he got it.

It hit him then; the first conversation they'd shared, so many moon back. It wasn't entirely his fault he'd forgotten it; after all, as he'd recently just admited, she'd pretty much broken his brain and the events of that day had been blurred at best. It was a miracle he even recalled it now when she mentioned it, "Your sister?" he paused, lifting his head off her form to look up at the stars that shone down them, then he closed his eyes and mouthed something silently... imposible to hear before looking back down at her with a smile, "I was telling the wind to thank your sister... where ever she might be. I'm sure, if it spoke to her, it'll carry my words and feelings of gratitude to her," for such a down-to-earth creature, he was quite willing to believe, amusingly enough. Then again, he'd come to realise that believing was the only thing they had; hope, love... it all came down to belief.
She smiled and looked up at the moon slowly, watching it for a few moments, as if it were the embodiment of earth, wind, and everything all at once. With a small nod, she smiled, "I'm sure the wind will thank her for us. Wherever Misae is right now, I know she'll hear." She smiled then, shifting to snuggle herself closer against his larger form and lay her head down on her paws. She had never believed or hoped for anything until she met Misae, and now she was sure, after finding Enok and her new family, that she at least had hope and belief. She smiled at him and shut her eyes, a purr of contentment on her maw. It really did all work out.
