I'd really like to post this in the SF, but I want opinions on it first. Hopefully this time it ends up going through. But please read it, and check it out. Opinions really matter here. What about the Midwest? I myself was all excited at a new announcement of Gaia having gone to some conventions, until I look at the place. Almost any of the events that take place are never in the Midwest of the United States! Why is this? Why do we get maybe one con that Gaia attends: Gen Con rather then attending Anime Central? Anime Central can make the Admin’s a lot more money if they need it so badly, because most people fly in just to go to Anime Central. When I look at the list of the rest of the cons, they tend to be absolutely everywhere ELSE. And then the whole thing with the Today show happens and this idea get’s sparked. Why don’t the Midwestern’s get more attention? It literally seems like many of us are just ignored by the idea that we don’t have a heavy population of Gaians that live there. In high school I knew tons of kids who were on gaia and lived in the Midwest. So why ignore the Midwest so much Gaia? Are any of us Midwesterner’s ever going to see events like the Today show take place here? I understand that Gaia originated on the West coast, and that they’re corporate offices are there, but I find it disheartening that compared to everywhere else in the US, Gaia comes to maybe one convention in the Midwest. If it was going to be only one convention for the Midwest, why not Anime Central? So I guess my whole feedback idea with this is that I’m rather disappointed that Gaia doesn’t hold events or attend more cons like this in the Midwest of the United States

Well, the problem is that it's probably not as big of a concern about the Midwest as much as the coasts since there's more population on the coasts. Only guess as to why they're basically breezing over the Midwest is that they're looking at the denser population areas (like the coasts) in stead of the mid-section of the continental US since they've got more population density? sweatdrop Ehh, maybe that or it was at the bottom of the travel list and they ran out of budget just after that one convention? sweatdrop blaugh Who knows... but that's just my 2 cents, as worthless as they are. ninja redface blaugh

That brings up the concern that also might have been brought up... cost of a booth at AC (Anime Central)? confused I'm not a convention person, but it's probably going to cost some insane money to have a booth at multiple big cons. If that's one of the biggest for that region, maybe they'd have almost no chanec to hit some of the smaller venues since they figure that most people around that region who'd hit AC would know them anyways, it wouldn't be quite nearly as beneficial to just see their fans as if they hit some of the lesser ones around where they go to hope to draw a new crowd? sweatdrop ...ehh, whatevers... it's just another concern that could be brought up. confused

Well, since I'm from Canada and we only get two big conventions in my province, I pretty much agree with you. I know a lot of people in my area who have Gaia accounts, but do you see Gaia admin or reps come up here? No, not really. I understand that plane tickets are expensive and all, but they could at least have a Canadian delegate or representative. I myself haven't been to any cons yet (but maybe next year since I finish first year a couple weeks before the event), but I know there are a lot of Canadians who go to these conventions. Hell, why not take advantage of the USD-CDN exchange rate? p____q
But yeah, if Anime Central is a big convention... why aren't they going for it? The number of Gaia users have quadrupled (not too sure about my stats here, but I know that it has more than doubled) over the years I've been on... Especially since Gaia is pretty big with MMORPG/anime fans down in the States. Seems kinda strange. Maybe the costs do come into play here with setting up a booth, but a lot of money could be made if they did set up a booth in AC... Hmmm...

This topic just came to mind when I was looking at the Today show announcement. I thought it would be cool if they did one like that for the midwest too.
