Since this guild needs some posting, I figured why not make a new topic to post about. I was curious as to how people came to find out about RedDwarf. So here is is, the question itself:
How did you come to be addicted to this winderful show?

I just realized I didn't answer my own question. xd
I started watching it when my dad got me hooked on British Comedy. I live in America and don't get to watch good TV. Most of the American stuff (except LOST) is crap. But my dad's always had As Time goes By and Keeping up Appearances on every Saturday night on our PBS station. Up until I was about 12 I just thought they were stupid shows, but then my dad actually had me sit down and watch them. I loved them right away. The humor's great, the acting wonderful and they actually have plots!
So I sat in front of the TV that Saturday night copletely amazed. I watched the two mentioned above and then The Vicar of Dibley, Black Adder, Murder Most Horrid (I'm a huge Dawn French fan), Mr. Beane and then, all of our favorite's Red Dwarf. It was late at night, almost 11 ( I was 13) and I had ro beg my dad to watch it, but he finally let me and then it turned into a regular thing. I never missed an episode. That is, untl PBS pulled it off the air. Boy was I ticked. But I'm not going to get into that.
So that's my story on how I found Red Dwarf. Hope it's not too long.

I first learned about RD through one of my friends, who was and is a huge fan of all things British. She introduced me to stuff like Doctor Who, Who's Line Is It Anyway (the original series with Clive Anderson, not the crappy American remake with Drew Carey), and, of course, Red Dwarf. I saw the first eps of series one and was totally hooked. To the point that I bought the first 5 series on DVD yesterday, and intend to watch them whenever I can find the time.

Aw Dr. Who. how I love that show. Now that PBS pulled RD off, I watch good old Who. Nothing better than strange plots clothes and bad technology to make me laugh. I've never seen the original Who's Line is i anyway. I plan on it though. I've also decided I'm gonna have to move to Britain. I need my good British Comedies that PBS have taken away from me.

Love the Vicar Of Dibley. I love just about all British tv, except Eastenders, of course. Because Soaps Suck!
I actually sort of fell into RD. I cought it on some obscure channel one night around one am, and then again a few months later, and then I found myself staying up just to catch it... (when I should have been studying)
I started raving about it to everyone I met, and my then boyfriend went away to New Mexico for a week and his cousins had BBC america-- *gasp* and they were doing a RD marathon. So the BF threw a tape in and let 'er record til he had to put a new tape in, etc etc. Then a few years later, the next boyfriend bought me seasons one and two on DVD.
I watch RD when I'm feeling down. I'm not a fan of repetition, but RD is just THAT good. I'll watch it over and over. 3nodding

I originally saw this show when the first season was getting repeated on Sunday afternoons on the ABC back in 89 ( I think)
Templar, I totally agree with you on Whose line, the UK version is heaps better than the crappy US one (which just points at the host I guess cause the rest of the cast is pretty much the same)

I actually learned about it from Ana. whee She was over one night when we were still in Alaska and she said, "Have you guys seen Red Dwarf?" And of course we hadn't, so she put in a tape of it. Mom left soon after ( xd ), but Dad and I stayed to watch it. I had kind of a "what the...?" reaction, but now, a few years later, I'm smart enough to love it. xd

When my 'rents and I went to England a while back, we went to the town where they film Dibley (can't remember the real name) and I have a picture of me and the vicarage.
