I confess: I was once a phanbrat.

Okay, so it was only for a period of about two weeks (the time span between my seeing the '04 movie and picking up the OLC). And I didn't realize this until finding one of my diaries recently and reading "--booing Raoul and cheering the Phantom--" WUT? And a few pages later: "--the Phantom is so hawt!" ...NUUUUU.

And of course, now I pretty much loathe that movie.

So. I'm going somewhere with this. Ahem.

Have YOU ever had a drastic change of heart as far as PotO is concerned? Did you once ship E/C and are now a staunch R/C supporter? Have you gone from Gerik fangirl to Leroux purist? Do tell.

A man who felt too much
A man with scars too deep
A man whose name meant only fear and scorn

Some of you less-recent phanguild members remember the time when I was a phanbrat... sweatdrop It's really thanks to you guys that my obsession got pushed the right way.

A man who longed to touch
A man who longed to weep
A man whose only crime was being born

You, a phanbrat, Ela? That's a scary thought.

I think I might have been a phanbrat, but I can't really remember.

Sometimes when you get what you want,
you end up missing what you left behind.

I was sadly introduced to Phantom through Gerard Butler...and then I was later exposed to Michael Crawford and others. I sadly remember the first thing that I totally regret ever saying was, "He doesn't look half bad...I mean if he kept his mask on."

*dies*

I can't believe I said that! I am so glad that now my mind has been purified by this guild and the wonderful writings of Gaston Leroux. THANK THE LORD!

Whether it's your friends,
or time spent with your family.

Or even the music you used to hear in your head.

Oh, you wouldn't believe how much I luffed on French Gerik before finding this place. Actually... I think I was a Raoul supporter too! It just goes to show how much the movie tries to hide Erik's real genius. Music is love. <3

Well, I don't blame you for liking French Gerik, 'cause his voice isn't that bad. Gerik-Gerik, on the other hand....

I think we should thank some of the older, wiser members for showing us the light that is Leroux.

"He doesn't look half bad...I mean if he kept his mask on

I said the exact same thing before!

Yeah I was a phanbrat too, an obsessive one at that sweatdrop .

I can't believe that the day after I watched the movie, I was going on and on about "the Phantom" (I didn't know he was Erik till 3 days later) to my friend and how absurd Raoul was. I was a major Raoul hater, now I've come to terms that Raoul isn't a fop, he's misunderstood. His character was killed in the '04 movie that's all xp

When I saw the movie, I talked about it way too much that it was pathetic. It was my only conversation subject in AP Gov. Fortunately I'm not so obsessed about it nowadays.

Even with the knowledge I gained on reading Leroux, I admit that I still like the movie. Despite the cheesy-ness, it's not like I'll diss the thing that got me started.

The Venatrix is back!

I didn't used to be a phanbrat as much as I was thrilled to have been re-introduced to PotO through the movie that I sang its praises as much as those of any other version. I never did like Gerard Butler nearly as much as I liked Leroux!Erik.

However, I did used to be an Erik fangirl. And I was almost scared to become a Winslow fangirl, because I wasn't happy with the way I had always so quickly picked up and then dropped obsessions in the past. But the whole Winslow fangirl thing was inevitable, and it seems to have made me who I am, thank the Utakan.

*stands up and waves* Hi, my name is Sam, and I was once a phanbrat. When i was first introduced to the ALW movie, my first reaction was "OMG Phantom=HAWT!". Then I wandered onto this guild, lurked for a while, and realized I was going to end up heckled if I didn't at least read the book. I did and quite honestly found it a tad... dry... please don't remove my head, then came across Phantom by Susan Kay. I still think Erik is god, and delicious, but I'm oddly enough not referring to Gerik. This is the picture that best descibes what I picture: The Phantom I Dream of, lol If that makes me a necrophiliac then so be it, lol. redface

Oh gods, I'm almost ashamed to say I was a Phanbrat...

One of my first thoughts that I remember is "Oh, gods, he's ugly!"
In refrence to GERIK, too... crying

Luckily, I found Leroux and Crawford and Alonso...thank goodness...

Okay...you somehow remind me of my early days of phandom, before I fell head-over-heels in love with Winslow, and I don't even truly know why.

"Erik is god, and delicious". That made me snicker.

Strangely, unlike most of my friends I never thought Gerik was ugly. That's somewhat reassuring, I suppose.

I also remember the first time I watched the movie, I actually thought Emmy Rossum's singing was pretty good. Now the sound of her voice literally makes me cringe. >.<

"Erik Is God, And Delicious" needs to be this guild's new motto. Heh.
