August tugged at his sister's ankle length, blood red coat, putting his wrists to his temples and wiggling his fingers on top of his head when she looked down.
"Bunny?" she asked, and when he nodded, she bent at the waist, meeting the toddler eye-to-eye. "Okay, let's see." Brownie gathered August's plaid green scarf in her fists and wrapped it under his chin, tying it tightly in a knot on the top of his head. She arranged the loose bits so they drooped onto her brother's shoulders. "Rabbit ears." The girl smiled, little sharp teeth making the expression seem more sinister than she'd intended.
August nodded again before running off into the grassy space between a shiny new jungle gym and a crowded set of swings. It might have been getting colder, but this particular park didn't seem to be any less occupied. The boy bounced, imitating the rabbit he was so crudely dressed as, and Brownie heard his equally inaccurate rabbit noises in her head as he played. At least no one else was likely to. The kid was in serious need of some nature documentaries.

Shiori was settled comfortably on a park bench watching Kisala as the girl swung higher and higher on the swings. At a certain height-- she knew this would happen, though she'd told the girl not to do it-- the little brunette lunged forward and jumped off the swing, soaring in the sky for just a second before crashing to the ground.
"Oof!" Kisala giggled, getting up and dusting off the deep green corduroys that were her current favourite pants for the holiday season, "Bwahahaaa! Now I just have to learn to stop -falling-."
She blinked, noticing the little green-haired 'bunny' and peered at him curiously, "Whatcha doin'?"

August stopped short, his face registering mild shock at being addressed at all before he realized this girl had just fallen out of the sky. He almost looked to his sister to talk for him as usual, but quickly decided that would take too much effort.
"Hoppin'," he said, his rarely-used voice scratchy and little more than a whisper. "You fly?" He pulled the scarf back so his 'ears' trailed down his back and looked from Kisala's scuffed pants up to her face. Flying looked like it hurt.

The girl grinned, "Well, tried to anyhow. One day I'll fly for real, though. Somehow. Haven't decided how yet. Maybe in a spaceship!" her hands zoomed up, mimicking a rocket, as she said this. She didn't seem to have any reservations about starting up conversation with random people, though, and kept on.
"I'm Kisala. What's your name, Bunny-boy?"

A rocket? Cool. "August," he said quickly. He turned around, and seeing that his sister was still approaching, he mentally waved her off and added a shoo of his hands. Brownie shrugged and rolled her eyes before choosing a bench and sitting on its back, her coat and sharp wings hanging nearly to the ground behind her.
"I'm gonna go to the jungle!" he said with a grin, as if that was somehow better than or equal to flying through space. "Gonna be a Jungle Man!"

"Oooooh!" Kisala giggled, "That might be fun too! Maybe I'll come visit you in the jungle sometime and we can swing on vines and eat cookies and stuff."
Kisala definitely liked cookies. Though, not as much as she liked shiny objects. And stars. And SPACE. She wanted to go to space one day, for sure.

August nodded and bounced on the balls of his feet. He liked cookies too, and perhaps he would grow to like space. He'd have to have someone look it up for him when he got home.
A little girl's bright yellow raincoat and light-up sneakers caught August's eye and he turned to watch her run for a moment. "What'chu come here for?" he asked Kisala, facing the older girl again. Playing bunny was fun, but he wanted to try some of this other stuff.

"To swing 'n stuff," she nodded and motioned towards the swings, "Wanna try?"
He looked a little small to be holding on all by himself and stuff, though. Maybe she'd have to help him! That would be okay. She didn't mind helping sometimes. 'Sides, he was a nice kid and she didn't know that many, so she could use a few more playmates.

"'Kay," August said. He wasn't sure he could hold on either, but Kisala had fallen and she seemed no worse for it. He approached the swings, picking one that was out of the way and, of course, unoccupied. Toes pointed, August hopped up onto the swing, stomach-first, his arms propped under him and legs dangling. Now, how to sit up?

"Heheheee. Well, you can do it that way too..." she flopped onto the swing next to him and moved her feet so that she would sway back and forth, "Though you can't really go so high easily.."
She flipped over onto her back, sitting on the seat instead, "Like this, though, you can reach the clouds!"

Hooking his right leg up next to him, August eventually squirmed his way into the seat, mimicking Kisala. He grabbed the chains at his sides and leaned back as far as he could, which was severely limited by the length of his arms. "What now?" he asked. He would never reach the clouds if he wasn't even moving!

"You gotta kick your legs back and forth like this," she demonstrated, "And like...shift your weight when you do, so's you move."
She had no idea how to explain it properly to the kid. Well, if he didn't get the hang of it, she could always push him on the swing, maybe.

August watched her for a few seconds more and then began to push his legs and body forward and back, wobbling without effect at first, but making a good show of rocking shallowly after a while. He was actually glad he couldn't seem to go much higher. Even though he had accepted the fact that he might fall, he didn't really want to.
"Fun!" he said, smiling as the wind brushed his hair off of his forehead. It wasn't very long before his legs tired and he stopped his efforts to go higher, the swing still swinging enough to suit the child.

After a few moments Kisala watched the boy, then got off the swing and moved around to push him just a little higher, "See? Like this!" she giggled. She didn't push him -too- high 'cause she didn't want to scare him and all, but it was fun to be so high up in the air.

Fists tightened around the swing's chain supports as August felt his stomach drop every time he reached the highest point of his flight. Soon he was laughing, a series of short, near-hysterical giggles followed by a sharp intake of breath so he could giggle again. His reaction was a bit extreme for the low altitude he was achieving, but August was not now nor would he ever likely be much of an adventurer, despite his Jungle Man claims.
Even though she couldn't hear it at this distance, August's laugher reached his sister's mind, as nearly all of his strong emotions did lately. She glanced up from the huddled group of pigeons she had been watching and spotted her brother on the swings. Brownie hated to do this to the kid when he was actually making a friend, but sitting in a park alone was... boring. The white-haired girl stood, shaking the long coat that kept her wings hidden into place around her ankles, and slowly approached the two children.
