Where had she been this whole time...? Even the lioness wasn't aware. She'd become unaware of a lot. Within moments of her three youngest daughters being born, she'd gone for... She couldn't remember what. Maybe a drink of water... All she remembered was feeling so warm, so hot... She'd never made it to the river to drink, but instead had wandered into the trees, into the darkness, the coolness... And beyond. Who had kept her alive through the fever...? She had no idea. She was only ever aware of food being there, and something touching her repeatedly.
Now, her paws treked across grasses and towards trees. As muddled as her mind had become... She was drawn this way. Green eyes barely looked around, as if blind to the world. No, not blind... Merely not focused. A slight smile was plastered on her maw as she walked, though she had nothing to smile about, in particular. As she paused to marvel at a little butterfly, she let out a giggle. "Saaaiiiriiiin... Look at the..." She looked around, but her third son was nowhere. Where had that silly cub gone to? She blinked a bit, remembering her three youngest cubs. No... Sairin wasn't a cub anymore... Was he? She shook her head, then continued on her way.

Nothing was quite as curious as a lion that seemed out of its mind. Jareth followed the dark lioness, wondering where she was going. As she crooned out the name of one of her offspring, he felt a shiver go down his spine. Just how gone WAS she? Surely the two-leggeds could see she was in no shape to be on her own! If she spoke to nothing that was there, she was in no shape to hunt at all! He ruffled his fur, getting closer. What was going on in her muddled mind...?

As she passed into the trees, Ishara stopped and sniffed. After a moment, she smiled and let out another giggle. "Iii smell Asi'kaaaariiiiii.." Her tail flicked before she continued to walk, then paused to scratch at her neck. Bothersome... What was there? She couldn't see it, but it was obviously no harm. She looked around, though she focused on nothing. The forest stretched before her, birds singing here and there. Now and then, the grunting of a buffalo escaped. Suddenly, she looked behind her. "Hurry, chi..." Another blink. No, no cubs... She stared at the space behind her, then spied something small, tiny, and white. "Ihlooo..." She turned and went back to retrieve what she thought was her middle daughter.

Jareth's ears went back as the lioness got closer, but he didn't turn and run. Though a hare, he showed no fear of any dog, hyena, lion, leopard, cheetah, or any other predator. He sat up tall, lifting his large ears. Even in the daylight, he looked like a ghost of the savannah. "No, no, not Ihlo..." Red eyes met green as the lioness stopped, and the hare got for the first time a good look at the tracking collar. What was it for, exactly? It looked like a thick necklace, really, with a box on it.

Tilting her head a moment, a laugh soon escaped the lioness' mouth. "Silly little spirit, fooling me like that..." Her gray ear flicked before she circled it. After a moment, she smiled at it. "Or you're a really small cub hiding in a bunny body..." She nodded, tuft of hair flopping, as if this was indeed the truth. As if to affirm this, she caught the hare - Proving she could still move well enough - and lifted it by the scruff. Looking about one last time, she continued on her way. Silly cub...

The hare puffed, letting out a shrill and displeased sound. "Unhand me right now, Ishara! I am NOT a cub, I am NOT a spirit, I am a HARE!" He thrashed about, ears back and hackles up. With a sharp twist, he got free, dropping to the ground. Fur puffed, he glared at the lioness. "Your place is not there amid the pride of relations. Follow me!" Tail wiggling, he went sprinting off.

The lioness looked as he left, blinking slowly. Strange little cub... He wasn't getting away from her THAT easily. Ears perked, she went after him. "Come back, little cub! You shouldn't wander around alone!" Despite her limp, she hurried after him. She left behind the Kusini'mwezi lands, left behind Asi'kari, left behind the daughters she didn't even remember having. She didn't even stop to realise she was being led back towards the Pridelands or the Graveyard.

Now and then, the albino hair popped up out of the grasses, showing the lioness where he was. Despite her limp, and despite his small size, neither seemed to tire. It was just as well, they had a long way to go. Over the plains, past rivers and a small lake, they passed the Great Mountain where once upon a time, Ishara'd stayed. When night fell, he found a place to hide, making certain she slept. Large ears twitching, the hare went to find his brother. The rogue's mate had returned to where she'd started, and those it concerned would be told.
